General/Other KILLER FROST - General Discussion Thread

Can anybody think of a way to option select the throw to make it come out as a f3? Technically you can press f 1+3 to get the throw. Is there a way to option select the throw to come out as a grab?

not in a common sense, no. The only way to exploit game mechanics so far is the difference between normals recoveries when cancelled and not. For ex. if aquaman does b12 and tries to mix it up, you can input d1 and still get to block special, while interrupting their next atack, should they not cancel b12 into special. However, KF d+1 has so little range its fairly useless. I usually use d+2 for that purpose with KF. Same can be done with throws, I assume.

Sup Everyone, ive recently picked up KF to cover hawkgirl's bad MUs (i have Raven but she's too fair)
i'm looking for any tips/info that you can give a beginner KF :) be it best combos/resets/punishes/things to look out for etc.

I also have a few questions.

-whats her best anti-air? Im coming from characters with stupid good anti-airs and her d2 isnt as reliable as i thought. Does she have any other anti-airs or is d2 her best option?

-how good is she now after the "normalization"? Is she still top 5/10 material?

-any matchups i need to look out for? Be it really good or bad for her.

Her D2 is one of the best in the entire game. Yeah she is definitely still top 10. Black Adam and Martian Manhunter are probably her hardest matchups.

I wouldn't go that far. He's coming from Hawkgirl, whose d2 is so great that it works well even outside of AA situations. Grundy, Aquaman, Hawkgirl, and maybe a few others have d2s in a higher league than KF's.

That said, KF's d2 is a solid AA and serves her well. I wouldn't ask for more on this type of character.

I rank her at 11. Semantics, she's still good.

We talked a while ago about d1~freeze tech traps. Can someone explain how that works and what options the opponent has if they block the d1 standing? I never really caught the theory behind that tech.

I use it a bit.

After her bnb, instead of doing j2 2, you can do j2 d1 mb grab. D1 mb grab doesn't link tho, so if the grab connects, the combo resets and she gets a free combo into a meterless vortex setup.

Its more of a gimmick than a trap since it can be escaped with ease, even on hit. They can backdash, jump, duck or even attack after the d1 hits and it'll interrupt the freeze.

But there's also a counter to their counter tho. After d1, a naked slide will beat ANY attempt they do (backdash, jump attack), expect for ducking of course. F3 beats backdashes, jumps and ducks, but loses to fast attacks.

Its somewhat a 33/33/33 mixup since after d1, they have to guess for a mb grab, f3 or slide, but the fact that this is hella punishable is what's stopping me from saying its legit.

Yeah, I just tested myself and confirmed you can duck it. Shitty tech, not worth it at all. Yomi level 0 (duck) is full combo punishable, which right there makes it not worthwhile. Add in that the reward is less than the straight 50/50 because you get less damage, spend a bar, and lose your MB freeze for the followup combo, and the decision not to ever use it becomes crystal clear.

Less reward, punishable, and it doesn't work at yomi level 0. Oh well.

Props for exploring the idea ;) I'm still trying to incorporate F23 into my game lol

I notice that at the end of some combos or at the start of some combos people will do mb iceberg. With two mini dashes when I try this I only get 1 long dash and its like i'm endlessly floating forward.

In regards to F23, would you guys want me to make a video on the wake ups it does in fact stuff? After a set of two u3's you can time it just right to stop the wake up...Idk....it's just such a cool move...we gotta claim it. ;)

Yeah it is a cool looking string, but I don't use it too much. Hopefully we can find a good way to use it. The only time I ever really use it is to get a hard knockdown into a jump in air dash setup. But that in itself isn't that good anyways because it would probably be better to end in u3 where you can get the same type of jump setup and the potential for a meterless reset.
