Dead Kings Rise
I got the game after the patch, care to explain how Staff Spin rocked during those times?
Before the day 1 patch, NW had the following:

+Regular Staff Spin was +20 on block
+MB Staff Spin did a wall bounce, like a F3 or B3
+Flying Grayson was an overhead

-Ground blast was a mid
-MB Ground Blast did not launch

well, atleast Ground Blast is now a low...so I guess you gotta sacrifice something to get something.

What would you rather have? Ground blast with the low + launch or Overhead Flying D, Wall Bounce MB Staff Spin?

The fucking block infinite lmao. Literally just push them to the corner, make them drain their meter and watch them get fucked.

I'd rather have Ground Blast as it is now. Nightwing doesn't really need more OHs, or different combos. The low makes him have a better vortex in Staff, believe it or not. Reg Staff Spin block infinite would be nice, but would make him hella braindead. I think he's perfect as he is. Especially now with the general system changes like d2 buffs.

I think he's perfect as he is.
I think he's a well balanced character, but there are two major improvements I'd like to see:

1. Scatterbombs... better range? Quicker startup? Pretty much anything that would make them useful.
2. Escrima u3/u3d3... Quicker startup? Option to armor? Again, pretty much anything as long as it is useful.

It just hurts to see some cool animations put to waste.

Pretty much sexy moves that get no play online.

If you're not using Escrima d2, you need to be. Especially against characters with box dashes. It is a must in the Hawkgirl matchup now.

There is no HG matchup. You switch :)
Please, that matchup is more than doable now. HG has gotten worse due to wakeups and d2s getting buffed. She effectively lost all her guess-four-ways oki and she can't stay up in the air for free anymore. Legit, outside of max flight height, Escrima d2 will hit her. I've played this matchup enough pre- and post-patch to know it's not that bad anymore.

You have access to real midscreen damage while she doesn't. And once you have her in the corner, she pretty much has to wait out your pressure or die because of how bad her reversal options are.

I promise you, just stay on her, make some good reads, and you'll be fine. This matchup has gotten a lot better since Month 1.

Gonna have to work on it more, I guess, because she still owns my NW's normals and B2 for free.

Wakeup mace charge still goes through half of my oki.

Okay, so let's talk about the Cyborg matchup. Anyone have any notes for this? Videos, maybe? I know that STD doesn't blow up his power fist wakeup, nor do flip setups. You can only reverse it with 113 ground spark cancel. Blocking also works of course.

Are there any surefire ways to punish the general patterns in his keepaway? Like, say he does TK nova blast into missiles. Or does two TK blasts into a MB TK blast. What should I be doing get around this, other than of course blocking and dashing. Does the air time that wingdings give you help at all?

Never try to jump and avoid fireballs, unless he stops throwing them. If he's content with doing both air and ground, then just inch your way into b2 range. Wingsdings kinda hurt you in this mu for getting in. they work well on his wakeup though, if u bait it mb wingdings will push him further to the corner. Yeah dash blocking works. Just staff cancel flying Grayson on reaction to shoulder missiles. U may trade w a fireball but atleast ur closer to him. Also. Allllllwaaaaays go Atlantis vs cyborg. The mobility interactable (the pole) works fuckin wonders.

Cyborg is shooting before you move. He isn't reacting, he is making reads. If he ever does air fireball on a bad read - you get two free dashes. If he meter burns his air fireball, expect a ground fireball. Don't dash until it comes out.

His MB b3 has incredible range, it's a staple of their footsies.beware.

Wingdings are a huge risk, but MB wingdings at half screen will score you a knockdown and will get you in. Getting hit out of the air will send you back to full screen.

When I get cyborg cornered, I like to pin him with wingdings. Cyborg's wakeup will set him up for full screen zoning or you respect it and he can zip line out. I like to hang about 1/3rd screen from the corner and just repeatedly jump wingdings. They can't shoot fireballs, they can't zip line. They can't wakeup. If they dash in, you can push block them right back into the corner. Cyborg has a very difficult time managing the space in that portion of the screen without MB ground shot. And they will be trying to jump air shot your wingdings if they are unfamiliar with the spacing.

I'm going to have to go into Training Mode sometime this week and just grind away against Hawkgirl's shit. I hate being counterpicked. Tonight was especially frustrating because of how I dealt with it.

Wonder Woman beats my Nightwing.
I change up my strategy and my Nightwing beats their Wonder Woman easily.
(They talk shit about me laming them out. I accept an invite to play 1v1)
They counterpick with Hawkgirl and spam her specials, beating me.
I counterpick with Deathstroke and spam the jumping pistol shot move and won.(I quit)

What pisses me off more than anything is that I actually allowed myself to resort to using my incompetent Deathstroke instead of just trying to grind away. I need to practice more... :(

I feel your frustration.
I never counter picked, I just keep trying to understand what I'm missing in the match-up. Winning to me is irrelevant if I'm not improving. But I totally understand your reason for counter picking and think it's fair. It's that frustrating of a match up to do so. Good job.

I believe HG jails NW a lot with her MB Mace Charge followed by a D1 for added pressure. If you can block those strings successfully throughout the game, it'll be an easier match for NW. Now the matter of the match up is responsibility of letting HG waste her trait(most HG players dont even know how to use it).

Dodging her Mace ariel attack is fair game, Superman lasers are harder. If you see her whiff and miss one mace throw, come dash in but avoid her leg drop from the skin (I like to dash in to the point my body is behind hers) I go in for a J3 with Wing because she has to come down from Flying and she's 100% free and vulnerable at the instinct moment, but it doesn't last for long so take that opportunity thats there for a free 20% damage.

Respect her wake ups at all times.

This isn't the guide to beating Hawkgirl because I struggle too my friend, I'm learning it and trying to solve what's safe and unsafe.

I beat Trepound who's a tournament Hawkgirl player pretty fairy, it went 2-1 in favor of my Dick.

Hopefully you can find something in the lab for the Grayson community, we all could use it in the future. Hawkgirl players think Nightwing is easy money, we must make them think again.

Just met a Catwoman player with a lot of tricks.

Catwoman's B3 is as fast as NW's B2....that just doesnt make sense to me at all.

She can do B3 after her combo string is blocked and the advantage is that B3 moves her out of getting hit with B2 or 33 by NW
