Yes :/ I sometimes get boring myself lol! But idc i love her and that's why i have Catwoman and Wonder Woman if i wanna make an strict fight

Fuck "hype", i've came to really despise this word coz of the FGC.

Who gives a shit if its hype to watch or not? Play the match the way its supposed to be played, doing stupider stuff to make the match "hype" is beyond retarded.
I'll be the lamest player ever if it gets me the win, which is why i respect chris G so much. He'll use the lamest shit and doesnt care about how it looks.
Its about taking the win and outplaying your opponent not making this shit a spectator sport. We've become mindless +1's to the streams that just want to see cool looking combos and retarded comebacks instead of seeing the mindgames and the actual gameplay going on.

It seems really just that despite you liking the character herself, as a playstyle she just is opposed to what you prefer. While she does generally lack the risk reward of other characters, she still has as much prediction as any other character but whereas others use 50/50s and set-ups she uses pacing and timing. As with any zoner/footsies character I like her especially for the fact that I can play at a comfortable pace rather then franticly moving as fast as possible.


You could always try and play Chris G style; save meter solely for pushblock/clash and when your opponent gets down to ~40% super them to end the bar. That way at least you get a big bang.

How in the hell is she not hype? Visually she's turning flips, dashing in fast with dropkicks, divekicking folks for hellish knockdowns and her combos involve that SOUND as she rapid fire beats you in the head with a mace?!

Her pressure had my WV guys hype as hell yesterday as I just kind of mashed out specials and hoped I would guess her strings on folks. I even managed to run back a full lifebar on a Flash yesterday that way with her. I know I was hype at least. Its why I want to learn her now. Stuff felt great and looked stylish even though I didn't have a damned clue.

Ds and batgirl give her trouble (imo 2 of her 3 worst MUs, with Sinestro as the 3rd) as they can take her down from flight very easily anywhere on the screen.
She can win and she has tools, its just that flight isnt one of them in these fights >.>

Cyborg is a pretty fun match up actually from when I played it a while ago, I also play Cyborg as a secondary.

I actually think it's even, but it requires a very fundamentally sound playstyle to hang with him. The match up is incredibly weird, not quite sure how to word it right now, but I'm thinking of doing a breakdown of my thoughts soon to go along with all of us collaborating on match ups.

Deathstroke, Batgirl and Sinestro are her worst match ups though in my opinion, probably 3-7 each respectively.

It's one of the few times I feel limited against anyone on the cast. They shut down a lot of her mobility and many of them beat her up close too like Deathstroke for example.

Well what I mean is that Cyborg's advantages are from full screen away only, up close she's actually better mix up wise and string wise in terms of safeness and damage. Her pokes really make it hard for him to get anything going when she does get in, he seems to have a hard time getting characters off of him outside of using armored grappling hook and MB back 3/forward 3 both in my experience playing against him and as him a lot, but this is not to say he cannot use grappling hook with armor to get away

Down 2 buff hurt Cyborg's jump ins a lot including grappling hook into jump as his mids, strings and footsie options all either have minimal range, a lot of holes or do minimal damage. He's one of the only characters in the game with equally or even weaker midscreen damage output and he has a pretty hard time opening people up for his damage.


Fireballs being duckable now helps too, there's a lot of little nuances.

At worst it would be 4-6, but for now my impressions are 5-5, but that could change with new data and evidence.


Unlike Deathstroke who has a great up close game, solid mix ups etc or Sinestro with a crazy good trait, Cyborg lacks these two things, lacks damage, lacks good mix ups and lacks solid footsie strings etc to really mess with Hawkgirl.

Oh okay haha...I was confused because I was talking about the Cyborg match up being weird by itself, not those three inclused.

The good thing I will say about those tough match ups is that they have certainly encouraged me to improve my spacing, mix ups and rushdown game over the months lol.

I think one of the big things is what was mentioned in another thread, that she is boring to watch. She is literally the anti-hype.
I find myself pretty hype to watch :joker:.

Sinestro's a 8-2 matchup in his favor. Non trait Sinestro is 7-3, Sinestro with trait is 9-1, so basically it makes the matchup 8-2.

I play Theo quite a bit...its tough but Superman can be managed. And lol at Jon Berg...I question if he actually supports HG...he needs to drop her and go beg for nerfs for a different character *rolls eyes*

Nah GL is at worst 6-4, even imo, if u play it right he cant get in without taking risks. Both have tools to shut the other person's options.

A character is what you make of them so to complain about her makes no sense to me when you can play her however you choose and still have success with good spacing, reads etc.

Exactly. I think she is hype as fuck because she comes off as such a strong and agile fighter. I love her voice when you land a MB Mace Charge...plus she controls the pace/tempo and the air like no other...Love HG!
