Khrome character Push Thread

I have studied Business Studies in college (UK), can someone tell me how Copyright works in USA. In UK you need to patent your idea for someone not to copy it, and since Khrome has not been patented then I don't see the problem. I mean I have two pictures of Khrome, and since they're similar can't the first artist sue the second artist?

Khrome is so extremely generic that he couldn't possibly run afoul of copyright.

To say one can possibly be sued for what is essentially an overused trope is to say Netherrealm studios can be sued for Liu Kang because he's a rip-off of the 1,000 other Bruce Lee characters.

I'm not saying that you're making stuff up. All I say is that if NRS were really interested in having Khrome as a character in MKX, they could easily contact the guy, who came up the overall idea and buy the rights to the character from him. After he signed the papers he would never have the chance to sue them over it. Courts would be laughing at him at that point if he attempted to do it.

At least that's the way it is here in Germany. I'm not familiar with the laws in America, but when I think about how some americans actually managed to sue Mc Donalds for making them fat, I understand where your concern comes from, so there is that.

Finally someone who gets it. The original idea is the statue which came before my designs. So all NRS needs to do is their version of the statue. This situation is different to the Skullgirls one because the original idea of Khrome is the statue whereas the original idea of Skullgirls is the person that came up with the idea of the said character.

The original idea is a trope that has been done over and over and over again, and was just an idea applied to that misprinted statue because it fit with the generic blueprint of "morphing metal guy"

It means they can't possibly be sued for Khrome, because he's really just a generic idea everyone uses.

But it also means the probably shouldn't make him a character, because he's really just a generic idea that everyone uses.

Metallic moves might not be so far fetched fitting Sektor in the future.

Two ways that could work, one that wouldn't have to be explained, but still by buyable is Sektor simply upgrades. Twenty five years is a long time advancement wise, and it makes sense he would be always upgrading to the newest technology.

For the second, I'm not sure if anyone remembers Armageddon's konquest, but Sektor says the line "Our consciousness is no longer bound to flesh." meaning he could potentially download his brain, which could be used to cyborgs (Tekunin) with crazy abilities becoming the new Sektor.

Anyone feel a little angry or something when they see this thread pop up again and again? I don't want to be a hater but it brings me joy to think that in about 10 months-ish when MKX is released, this thread will be dead. I'm just sick of seeing it pop up now, I was cool with it when I first saw it, but now it's... Bleh!!

And go ahead and reply along the lines of "I respect your opinion but this is a Khrome character push thread, please stay on topic" I don't care.






...Now I feel like a dick but I feel a lot better. I'm glad. Enjoy your thread :)

Either way this has suddenly turned into my favorite thread, probably ever. Scratch everything I've said on here so far. I want 1000 posts in this thread before MkX's release.

I just looked at those threads...

He'd make a thread on one website like this:
Main OP - basically a copy of the OP here.
Next post: "I just thought of something: he could have a male variation, female and some alien blah blah blah"
Next post: "Lets go team Khrome! Here's another picture of Khrome."

On another website, ONE MONTH LATER, he'd post the same thing:
The same main OP
The same post after that saying "I just thought of something"
Another post "Let's go team Khrome, here's another picture.. blah blah"

Why the fuck would he say "I just thought of something" when he posted that elsewhere ONE MONTH EARLIER?!!

@khrome you have serious mental problems.

I really hope this thread gets closed soon. Everyone is sick of it popping up every couple of hours.

Man, its still going on.

Why don't you just write your little Khrome fanfiction / webcomic just the way you like it and see if you can get Boon to retweet it, so you can hang it on your wall and go away. Endlessly appealing the internet to push your insanely uninspired character isn't going to get you anywhere.

Yeah, like I said. Tweet Boon the idea, and if he actually does it, great. If not, end of story and the character can stop being spammed.

There's also a thread on the original Mortal Kombat (2011) forums, which is where I first saw this several months back.

I think this thread has ran its course honestly.

i want Kia, Jataaka and Sareena so bad, but this doesn't make me go on every MK Community website and create character push threads, if NRS decides the Sisterhood needs to be played it because it was decided, not because of a push or unispired push.

I hated this concept btw, you guys call me close mind if you want, but nothing here is mind blowing enough to beg it for mkx.

I know mods have letting this open not only for the lulz, but also to avoid this thread be created again after closure, but this has just becomed sad to watch.
