Actually no

There's a far lesser chance u will see a dime now a days the way thjngs work now
There are many genres more niche and obscure than rock or rock-based stuff that you can still be successful in. It's just not as easy anymore, but you can and many do. Otherwise great new music wouldn't be coming out within these genres. You just have to be better at what you do than just having a good voice.

Joke man. It was a joke.

There's only three rappers I mainly listen to. Those two and eminem. But you can't deny that those three are/were the best in the industry. There's a handful of songs that are hip hop that I listen to that aren't from those three.

Let me say this then. It's been dead since lil Wayne got famous for "rapping"
Oh, for a second there I thought you were serious lol.

Don't even get me started on Lil Weeezy. I can't stand his music, BUT to each his own I guess. /shrug

@haketh You're right. IMO I think Nas is better than both tupac and biggie combined

Everyone in the know knows RA's the best. Even Biggie.

But nah there's great stuff that's come out just in the past few years.

Lol yeah i've started to get into that kind of rap ala 90s & early 2000s. I've basically went through EVERYTHING eminem and i'm starting to move on to other artsits of that time like dr dre, snopp dogg etc etc and all of their shit is SOOO amazing it's so much better than today's rap imo

I thought I was the only person who knew about him on this website. holy shit
IMO, no one comes close to him. And over 20 years since he started he's still just as good, maybe even better

I used to not respect rap at all until my friend showed me Uncommon Valor

The bullshit classicist viewpoint will always be that "xyz is dead."

Whatever. Times change. Art progresses into modernism and eventually avant-garde shit. The market changes. The formats change. Old people hate it. It's happened 100 times in every medium.

I first heard him on a Soundbombing cd I bought back in the day. He was only on 1 track, but I was diggin his raps. Some of my favorite songs of his are lessons, flipside, stanley kubrick. But pretty much everything he spits is fire. He has a dirty rugged style I like

smithhaven mall too. He's been through some shit

Tbh I think the way it is now is better in some ways. Minus lame bands like imagine dragons or whatever, a lot of music nowadays is popularized by people discovering an artist through youtube/soundcloud/etc and sharing them through social media. We have more power to decide what's good now rather than having the industry tell us what's good. We've reached a time of a shitty music industry moreso than a time of shitty music. The mainstream rap/hip-hop industry is still thriving, but most of the good shit is still "internet music" or more in the underground.

Like I said, I don't know why it's such a problem with rock but damn near any other genre of music has flourished through spreading their music through the net.
