This was my first tourney ever, let alone Evo. Ive been a huge fan of MK it was the first game I remember playing. I only started really taking it serious when MK9 came out. I mained Lao for a year then randomly stumbled upon one of your vids of Kenshi and was hooked ever since. I cant tell you how many hours of footage of Ive watched and practiced using your techniques. Bottom line the one thing I wanted to do at Evo besides meet ED BOON was get a chance to play MK9 at a tourney before its gone. Thanks to you @AK Pig Of The Hut and @G4S Claude VonStroke I got to experience that. I salute you guys and all that helped in making that happen! Thanks to all who were a part of it period for showing what a community can do if we all work together. One of the best times of my life!

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
Your a good player and a cool dude, Honeybee is a good player and a cool dude. Both of you are good in your own way. I have played, Beaten and lost to both of you. I have talked to both of you and i think both of you have good flashes. Stop thinking about what others say and just play the game. If you do good then good shit man. If you do bad then there is always next time. Also Honeybee won the Canadian Tournament. as well. :3
i wish it were that simple, i fall into the category of were i care about what people say when it comes to what i'm passionate about. i'm just here stating my case as to why honeybee is not the best flash hands down, and why harold wasn't the best flash free earlier this year because i'm still here, love it or hate it thats how i feel. at least with this situation i have results to back it up.

lol so i am the only one that wants to be the best with their character then? or am i the only one who talks about it publicly?
Small Penis. Almost as small penis as naming tech after yourself.
One last thing I forgot. Can we PLEASE stop bashing people that only play online? The fact that a lot of you guys are so militant on offline performances really does put me off. I know my feelings are not at the top of anyone's list but the elitism shown here is really something that gets on my nerves. It's almost like if you don't have a top 8 placing then instantly whatever opinion you have is deemed invalid and therefore whatever it is you say holds no meaning.

I've held my tongue from posting on here a lot simply because I'm an online player. I feel as though whatever I say will be seen by someone that placed offline and I'll be bashed for it. This should be a place where people can come and share things they know about their characters and their knowledge about the game. Whether you have online or offline experience should be irrelevant. I understand that this may never happen but I hope that this elitism at least dies down a bit for MKX.
Remember you guys, @HoneyBee was strictly an online player aside from his local that he went to where he and Biohazard dominated.
Yes and no.
It's not wether or not you play online or offline. It's if you know the mechanics of the game and you have experience in it. Problem is when people who don't know the mechanics well, and do not play at a high level, and they start bashing people who do take the time to learn and travel (see Fredmarvel/RaHelios, who had to ask what footsies were a week ago).

no that was my statement, in my line of work taking a friday off is like a doctor walking out on a patient (okay maybe not that serious but you get the point), i would have to sacrifice literally getting fired, i've been told many times, "you can request PTO, or VTO any day of the week.....except friday. the only way i can get fridays off is if i had vacations time and since am still relatively new at this job i don't have that yet.
Ask Pig or Harold tips to get to tournaments while also maintaining your work schedule. If you just can't make pools, then you can't make the tourneys and prove you're the best, so for now, you just have to hold that.

I am sorry about being such an asshole about this but results have got to continue to show

I understand your situation entirely, your hands are tied and you feel like you can't do shit to fix it.

But contact other players, contact TOs, look for tournies that have INJ pools on Saturday, heck you have KN guys like Shock and MikeMetroid just a private message away.

People have seen you do work, you're not just a guy who got lucky, you had to earn those wins, but you have to come back out and do it again

How lol

I'm extremely blunt
The whole thing you and Chef are arguing about is passive aggressive. Vaguely calling out a bunch(or maybe a few or just one? I can't even tell) of people for not supporting Theo in some unspecified way on the forums in front of everybody rather than just going to the people you're talking about and telling them they're being shitbags. That's passive aggressive

thats my problem, only 4 tournaments happened in this time frame, UFGT, MLG, CEO, EVO. UFGT no one from the east coast wanted to go, and i'm not about to post a "get zyphox to UFGT" thread. EVO and MLG, friday pools. its only been two months, people act like i have placed top 8 in half a year. CEO i had arrangements that fell through last minute. look i get what you are saying, and trust me am super motivated to shut people up....again, i just feel a lot of these opinions about who's the best comes from people playing favorites and a general dislike for my geographical location.

HoneyBee

lol i know but its aggravating, like i proved a huge amount of people wrong at winter brawl, then honeybee does good at UFGT and ECT and now i have to do it again? okay lets say i go to SJ and get 2nd place, now what? will everyone's mind all of a sudden change again? well privately a lot of people WERE saying honeybee was "privately talked among many that no other compares" verbatim quote by @AK Pig Of The Hut, so then when i do good next tournament will people privately start reconsidering that statement? or do i have to travel outside the EC and play these players and see if no others "compare"?
well if you get 2nd and I get 1st... :DOGE

All those tourneys were significant because top competition from every region went to each

I write too much.
I'm going to try to skip most/all of the drama in this thread.

Pig, this was an amazing post, thank you for taking the time to make it.

I also want to thank you for the matchup experience/help you gave me and my scene at UFGT (I hope to get a rematch next time we are at the same event!).

I need to thank you for all of the tech you have shared since this game came out as well; your tech is still giving me new ideas for my own character.

Finally, thank you for all the things you do/have done for this community. I hope that even if you leave this site, you don't abandon the community, or at least the parts of it that care more about the game than the drama.

This to me is the most toxic of all attitudes. It's honestly sickening. It reminds me of my 14 (young and prepubescent) year old self in 2009, as a beginning Rose player in SF4.

And this is my good transition to why I think the NRS community cannot advance unless they get over it.

So in 2009, I was a Rose player that only played online because I was 14 and couldn't go to local tournament let alone travel. I had a high online Rose rank though and people who played me online thought I was the best, but of course, Luffy (2014 EVO champion) was winning all the french tournaments and beating Daigo and was regarded as the best Rose, as he is. I simply refused to let it rock and I argued about the being the best Rose player, even when I had little results. As time passed, I got more and more results, and I still argued myself the best while Luffy was still winning the french tournaments. I hid all my tech and I had a lot of sick shit with Rose orbs that no other Rose did or knew and I didn't share with anyone because I wanted to only use to it myself. That's even more toxic, because our character couldn't advance and all the Rose players were not in good standing with one another.

But one day, I realized that being friends with the other Rose players and being friends with Luffy (we talk strats all the time) is the best, and it doesn't matter who is better, because we both benefit from the mutual relationship, he shares tactics with me and I share tactics with him. He WON EVO, I got 13th. It doesn't take anything away from me that he won, and my placing is nothing to scoff at. I'm still one of the best players in North America and he just got me that one tournament. We don't care who is better, we just get along, and no other Rose player cares who is better, and the only people who are using this discreprancy in placement are idiot stream monsters, that I shouldn't even let bug me.

But if all we care about is being the best with a character, then you won't advance as a tournament player and the community fails to advance because more likely than not, you're gonna hide something that 'separates' you as a player, which honestly, you shouldn't be hiding your tech because if you give tech to someone else, they will only find new ideas in terms of tech that they'd be willing to share with you.

But too bad the NRS community is unfortunately stuck in the vortex. Just the other day, there was an argument about best Wonder Woman, and I didn't even entertain it, I just gave props, because honestly, who cares? There should be more than one good player for your character so there will be things to be found.

If all you care about is affirmation to become the best with a character, then you're in the FGC for the wrong reason.

BTW @AK Pig Of The Hut I play Street Fighter for different reasons then the ones you listed ;).
I'm going to quote this to say thank you for saying this, not because it was necessarily something I believed, but because I think this may have been something I needed to read/hear.

I only half agree with you on this.

I agree that online players shouldn't be dissed for playing online. I know I am in awe of people who play my character online because I can't seem to.

That said, it is really hard to say how good online players really are if you haven't personally played them whereas players who have placed in events have already proved that they are not clueless through their results.

I'm not trying to tell you how to handle this(you can name names or not or whatever, I don't have an opinion on that), I just wanted to point out that you ARE being passive aggressive(you did ask!)

Questioning whether someone is good online is fine I can understand that. I'm just asking for everyone to stop treating online players like they're inferior. The whole "when have you gone to a tournament" arguement is so petty and childish.

Generally i know that online is shit but people can still be good by playing online. I have seen good players and bad players online and offline. I have also seen things work online that do not offline. Playing Online doesnt make you shit. You can play online and do well online. It just may or may not be harder.

okay so lets just compare for example, neither me or honeybee went to MLG or CEO, he went to UFGT and had a great performance getting top4. ECT he got 5th. EVO i don't know what he placed only know he lost in losers to My nikka BIFU Insayyne. 3 (american major) tournaments. I got 3rd at WB, 17th at FR, 7th at ECT. its not like am trying to say am leagues ahead of honeybee, but when yourself and others say he's hands down the best, just like you also did with harold, you were proven wrong. question is when do i get to be hands down best flash? going by objectively i'm pretty close to honeybee. now i don't want you to retract your statement, because i intend to make you hold it yet again, but besides tournament placings what other factors play into this?
