Good thing is K&M are NRS boys now, so UD can try harder but there's no place for him here :). Btw, WonderChef best commentator so far in my humble opinion.

Also, holy shit can we go back to all the previous EVO threads where nobody was going to watch or attend or even care about MKX at evo anyway because of our trash game only has two characters, no meta developments left and will be dead without a KP3 announcement in a month? Now its the biggest crime in the world that we got the wrong FGC veterans on the mic? Where are all those posters at?

UD and Aris are godlike. I completely agree. Best moments are when Aris gets a little out there with his...'Aris-ness' and UD is just like, 'Ooooooook, moving on', or something to that effect. Too good. The twins rule too, but something about UD/Aris keeps things light, but incredibly hype.

He has his place here, in fact he was even a major part of the whole early meta of the game with the OS discoveries and what not. Anybody who wants their place here should embrace it, there's nothing wrong with that, but just as ultrachen are the staple known commentators for SF, K&M are the same for MK.

The main issue is the tournament itself, that's probably what needs to be discussed more.

huh, K&M are the staple commentators for NRS games? I don't remember that being the case for MK9 or Injustice, also, Aris has a solid resume in NRS games. He has achieved more in Inj and MK9 than K&M ever did, so how is he not one of our guys all of sudden. Honestly, it seems Foxy is just shillin out of bias.

I am not sure, but I'll be honest. MK scene has a lot of drama attached to it and it's with high profile members. I don't ever see it with other games much but maybe I see it more with MKC because I'm more engaged in it so I notice it.

Hardly, I ever see bashing other players, other players characters and tier list feuds with other communities...

Edit: So maybe EVO wanted to be conservative, I am not saying K&M are drama!

Mostly, those are growing pains. EVO had almost 2x entrants compared to last year, plus the headache of dealing with ESPN. Of course there are going to be issues and of course they won't be able to cater to every community. Don't compare CEO, CB or KIT to EVO, those are two different leagues entirely, and MKX is far out of focus for the biggest FG event. The best course of action is to contact Wizard/Cannons and tell them what you'd like to see improved next year for Injustice 2, not to get people to alienate EVO.
As far as commentory goes, I can see the roles reversed. As in Aris&UD for pools and K&M for top 8. That would be the best. But organizers don't want to take chances, thus they decided that Aris/UD is a safer bet. However based on K&M performance during pools, they have a good chance of commentating top8 next year.

Bottom line: it was to be expected; voice complaints (not bitching) to Wizard/Cannons; have fun in Vegas, surrounded by 10000 people who love fighting games.

Why would it be bias, when K&M have more knowledge on the game and community than Aris does? Aris isn't a bad commentator by any means. I actually love his goofy use of Tekken move names to describe stuff in NRS. But his general knowledge of the game isn't at the level of K&M, that's for sure.

K&M became staples at MKX majors they attend when they started doing commentary for ESL. Doesn't matter if they hadn't been major commentators in MK9 and Injustice. The former of which they were more focused on actually playing as it was. It seems more like a general bias against them, coming from you, honestly.

Even though it keeps being minimized as "the least of the problems" the commentary keeps getting brought up, and I want to add one more thought to this discussion.
The most successful broadcasting duos follow a similar dynamic: Color and Play-by-play. This is what makes David and Aris such a great combo, as they both fall into their role fantastically.
K&M, no disrespect, are two very knowledgeable play-by-play commentators, but lack color, nearly completely.


I'd love to see EVO and other FGC majors continue to grow, and have 2 separate broadcast teams in top 8: the commentary duo for matches, and a panel for continuity discussion and breakdowns. Having UD and Aris doing commentary and throwing it to K&M and KP between matches would probably be the best type of scenario. A lot of growing needs to happen before that becomes a possibility, however.

And really, I get that everyone is upset on behalf of K&M. It feels like our boys got wronged, but David and Aris are better for business, and that is what's most important at a premier major like this.

Because I believe Foxy is petty enough for bias to be base of his rational. Just my read on Foxy character tbh.

Maybe game knowledge is the sole determinant for you, but it's not for me. I consider a set of variables when it comes to determining what is good commentary or not, and based on my standards, I find Aris FAR more entertaining than K&M.

You misunderstand, I brought up Aris's background in NRS games to defend him being apart of the NRS scene, not as an argument to say that his past achievements is the reason why he deserves to commentate over X and Y. Also, that entire point was in response to the way Foxy characterized Aris involvement/impact in the NRS scene.

Next time, read what is actually said instead of baiting for likes.

In an ideal world top 8 would of been split up between two sets of casters. K&M for the matches ups to losers finals. Then UD and Aris for the rest.

They probably scratched this off their things to achieve list because they didn't want to leave anything to chance in the what things could go wrong department.

Its in the past, K&M will still remain great casters and looking at the support they are receiving on this forum, they won't be going away as a casting duo anytime soon for NRS games.

K&M are great and know their frame data for sure but Aris & Ultra David make a much more entertaining and interesting commentary duo. Also, I think the best commentators are the ones that can stay involved and knowledgeable about multiple games & scenes at the event and not just one.

Also think some of you are selling Aris a bit short. He actually makes a pretty solid effort to stay up to date on the game and frequents many tournament players streams.

I'm never clicking this thread title again after this, but seriously people, think about what message the "discussion" in this thread is sending to the cannons. Imagine if K&M had been on the mic during top 8, would that somehow make everything else that happened okay?
