Who Had the Best Sonya in MK9?

This was also a great match -- footsies, spacing, use of tools:

This match defines the hype that made MK9 so exciting imo.

Insuperable

My mom tells me I'm pretty
My point is, I don't want this thread to become a back-and-forth exchange of why I am or am not the best Sonya when there are plenty of candidates out there who actually proved to be deserving of the title.

For example, who lost to Tyrant's Jax at MLG Dallas while using Sonya? Me.

Who beat him while using Sonya? Showtime.

Since you mentioned Final Round 16, do you also want to explain why I lost a 4-6 to Pokchop's Kenshi, but GGA Jeremiah was able to take Sheeva and beat that same Kenshi in a match-up that is painfully a 2-8 or 1-9 if I saw one? Or why I still lose to Kitanas even though people constantly preach that Sonya has an advantage against her, yet I just don't see how Sonya has the upper hand?

Already pointed out how MyGod got third at this year's EVO, which, I might add, is not a tournament that you can call overrated. There's a reason it's regarded as the king of major tournaments...a very good reason.

Oh, and please don't get me started on how I began losing to players who hadn't used Sonya for as long as me, yet were still able to beat me. And this was long before the above happened.

Bottom line, I was able to go nowhere with this character, and I hate admitting that simply because I revered Sonya more than any other character on the MK9 roster and hoped to become a legend with her. And I did become a legend, all right...but a legend known for failing HARD. So how you can still say that my Sonya is something to be respected escapes me. Try taking notes from a Sonya player who actually knows what they're doing for a change.
Sheeva Kenshi is Sheeva's best matchup. 1-9? Wat

Gotta go with MyGod, Showtime loses twice to Dizzy at Evo but Mygod beats the best cage in the game (IMO) handily. 3rd at Evo is pretty huge as well obviously. Then in 2nd I have EvilRiu48 and I have Riu48 in 3rd.

Yup -- self explanatory. Throughout the tournament history of the game, who had the one Sonya to rule them all? I tend to lean towards riu48, but some other choices are:

Showtime
GamerBlake90
SonicFox5000
Death (we know it wasn't him)
f0xy grampa (we know it wasn't him either, but god bless his Lao)
Wafflez (fraudelent, but I figure some GGA guys might vote for this)
Clint the Beast (he's so cool, how can you not put him on the list)
MyGod (a late addition, but you can't argue with what happened at EVO)
MortySeinfeld
MITDJT (an alt, but a formidable one)

...

Aw why not... AK Pig Of The Hut :D

So.. Who was the most beastly Sonya to play MK9? What say you?
Edit: Post matches if you have em! Nothing like reliving some nostalgic goodness.

GGA 16 Bit CURBOLICOUS FOREVER KING subzerosmokerain

Then what's the point of the thread? Is it not gonna be a back and forth of why one person is, or is not, the best Sonya?

For example, who lost to Tyrant's Jax at MLG Dallas while using Sonya? Me.

Who beat him while using Sonya? Showtime.
You mean when you were a round away from sweeping? The one where you lost the third match and then were, again, a round from winning? The one were you baited/read several wake-up EX Elbows punished with a DK into full combo? Are you seriously using this match as a point against yourself?

Showtime vs. Tyrant came down to the wire (last match and last round) and, if not for Tyrant trying to push his offense when Show had a meter he might've come out on top. He lost to a wakeup EX Kartwheel, don't make it sound like Show dominated or did so much better than you in that match.

Pok has more Sonya matchup experience than Sheeva? Beats me, people lose and win to good/bad matchups all the time, shit happens. People can't even AGREE on the Sonya/Kitana matchup so don't use the "Sonya wins the matchup so why am I losing?" argument.

Let's just look at the numbers for a sec of....UFGT and EVO MK. Evo had 230~ and UFGT had 60~. You have to win...what, 8 or 9 matches to get into winners finals at EVO compared to 4 or 5 from UFGT? About 4 times as many entrants and you have to win 4 more matches to be in winners finals? EVO, to me, is just a tournament with high level competition with some fodder/mid-level players along the way. Some people ONLY go to EVO and they aren't the best of players so the numbers are larger but the competition is no more or less fierce *Edit, I slightly retract this as it's contradictory to what I say later on* unless you meet one of those high level players that you'd only play at EVO. What high level players did he face at EVO that he wouldn't have faced at UFGT? People train "harder" for EVO, there's no question, but it's still just another tournament with high level competition that you've faced before (and a handful you may not have).

Oh, and please don't get me started on how I began losing to players who hadn't used Sonya for as long as me, yet were still able to beat me. And this was long before the above happened.

Fine, but I'll say other really good "character specialists" have probably had this happen to them as well. I'm sure you're not the only one.

You were able to go "nowhere" with her and yet are still regarded as one of the best, again, what's the criteria here? Knows what they're doing? YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! You've said before that you think Death is the better, you might've even said best, Sonya and yet you matched him beat for beat when you guys had casuals. You reference Showtime but you did better against Tyrant in the beginning and fell apart. You ask how I can say your Sonya is respectable but how can you say it's not?

To the first statement - yes, I am. You find that problematic, why exactly?

To the second - I'm kinda sad that you're pushing Showtime to the side like that.

To the third - because none of my tournament credentials even remotely express me having a beast Sonya.

They all felt about the same to me so it's hard to say. I give My God props for EVO. He is such a cheap player. He gets why Sonya is good. I only played him personally 3 matches though and while it's EVO and that carries serious weight it's just the one tournament. So I wouldn't call him the best.
