Injustice had like 1. There really wasn't a whole lotta money in Injustice. Pretty sure for the second evo top 8 players got t-shirts instead of a pot bonus from nrs. T-shirts...that was an injustice.

That one MLG tournament for Injustice was a complete disaster.

The better online although great but kind of kill the hype a bit. It's the anticipation that build up some of the hype. Same as why rare stuffs are so expensive

If these matches happen too often, then there is no drama. We become desensitized to it. Who wants to watch dragon vs hayatei for the 15th time? (Just using that as an example). In MK9 we had the intrigue of west coast players like tyrant or me matching up against guys like cdjr or 16 bit.

I don't think the problem is that it happens too often, it's that old problem of the talent stagnating. MKX and MK9 both had this issue where the skill gap was so massive we saw mostly the same guys decorating top 8's. We're even past the era of the fun -insert random guy here- that would occasionally pop up.

Also, and I don't mean this in a bad way, but a lot of the newer guys don't really talk shit, which is never as fun. And the ones that do aren't lighting up the offline scene, unfortunately.

I think there is still a hidden yet strong butt hurt sentiment where many of us (I must admit myself included) are mad at NRS for not building on the base MK9 design which many of us fell in love with and instead went with a complete different direction with the two following games.

Honestly the only big difference competitive/ hype was is the dominance of Sonic Fox which started happening towards the middle of injustices life span.

The Nightwing community was the goat, don't listen to the haters.

Most of the hate comes from the swarm of randoms that lurked in every matchup thread waiting to pounce on any poster who dared say anything about NW, leading to some people leaving him off their charts lmao.

Some people hated us because of the whole "X character of the world" saga where the NW community took it a step further and shit got kinda out of hand.

Others hated us because we were widely considered to be notorious downplayers. At one point it was Fly vs the entire NW community because he said something about the character having untapped potential or something. This + the above point led to Fly vs Sajam in a props thread which was very popcorn-worthy.

Then we had Youph's eternal vendetta against Nightwing which was always entertaining lmao.

Overall it was the best community free, TYM can hold that shit.

yeah there was like 3 MLGs i think, that was really nice and added to the whole Reo vs PL thing. Not really sure why the hype kinda died for injustice

I feel like that desensitization is made up for the possibility of seeing new faces. People who normally can't make it to offline events but are still top players. Semij for example is a guy who has really only been online and made his name through that. He is now undoubtedly a top player almost (if not entirely) purely through online. New faces upsetting old faces is ALWAYS hype in my book.

Let's not forget some unknown diamonds that we keep finding in ranked matches. Maybe we find A LOT of scrubs, but...we find very few good players to notice. In MKXL Beta, I happened to fall upon some unknown good players. In some fellas' case, it's Giovanni (that Dualist beast), to give you a good example.
