What's new

what happens after you become adept with EVERY character?

What do you do when you're "adept" with every character?

Actually get good with them.

Adept with a character means you know their auto combos, and a couple juggless.

Master all the characters and then come back and ask again.

Just look at a generic movelist for every character, memorize it, and you're pretty much adept with all the characters.

But, if you're looking for a challenge, pick the character who would most likely lose in the match.

This is what I would recommend mostly though.

My favorite characters are: Mileena, Cyrax, Classic Sub, Jade, Sheeva, Shang Tsung, and Sektor.

Look at the Tier list.

Learn how to get above "adept" with these characters.

Trust me, even against average players, you will find it difficult to win some of the time even if you become more proficient with these characters.

Of that list, I'd say Mileena, Cyrax anD Sektor would be the 3 most difficult to play. Mileena is by far the most difficult character in UMK3 to play, simply because she is incredibly limited, can be punished if she does anything except block (lol) and all her special moves are easily readable, and almost always punished.

So, tighten up your game on the botton 7 of the tier list, and go from there.

I think everyone who plays this game at high levels, should master every single character.

I mainly use Ermac, and Human Smoke. So when facing a Ermac or Human Smoke, It's alot easier for me to beat them. I guess it's because I know what, and what not is possible of them, so I can easily counter it.

Anyway, I lost my train of thought...
This is because Ermac and H. Smoke are very simple characters.

Tele punch and Greenball, and Telepunch and Spear.

Both have knee lift pop ups.

Very easy to fight them, however, not easy to beat them.

You can completely dominate a H. Smoke or Ermac, and then make one mistake, and 70%+ of your health is gone.

Not just combos, and juggles, their basic tactics as well. If you can consistently go 3 rounds vs a good player using top tier with random select, you are adept with every character.

I agree with some points you've made. I was completely dominating a Human Smoke the other day, and had him at a quarter health. He runs in and knee lifts pop up, and gets a 50%+ on me, followed by the exact same movement. So he had like 9 mistakes, I had 2. He wasn't a great player, but he new his basic juggles.

I guess that's why I like using these two, less effort.

I disagree. Adept IMO means being able to win against good players at least 60% of the time with the character, as well as knowing all their moves, strategy etc. I know Kung Lao's auto-combo, and "juggle"/inf, but I suck with him. I'd be happy winning 5% of the time against good players with him.

I think you should know everyone's moves. Know their moves, will help you in the long run. But knowing a characters moves, doesn't make you "good" with that character.

Well, I disagree, I think being adept doesn't mean you have to beat good players on XBL 60% of the time, adept sounds more like it means to know the autocombo, juggles and maybe a nice little corner combo, and your basic fighting skills arent stupid. For instance I played around 30 matches with phillybleeding lastnight, and i was going random, he was picking whoever (started to look like counter picking after, i won) Out of the 30, I believe i won 3 or 4 matches... now I dont concider myself good with every char. I can autocombo w/ everyone except jade, and I do know most every move. But in a match against a better, and quicker, player such as philly... The combos and the moves didn't help me at all, the only reason i beat him those 4 matches was because of trickery, and setting him up to eat a big session of run-jabs, I think i bounced around a lot of different thoughts in there, sry. Ima go get sum breakfast.

Knowing a characters moves, doesn't make you adept with them. It's not really opinionated.

Well bottom line is, there are very very very few players who are skilled with every character, and most of the time it's no more than 5 characters tops.

If you do that and also come away with babies, what's the word for it?

cause when i do play i've at times had better ratios than prestiged players, and i'm garbage at that game.

The point I'm trying to make is that I have yet to see someone that is great with every character, not an "expert/specialist" even, but just plain great. That is of the xbl community. I'm assuming their are people who are, but who on live is great with every character?

With cod anyone can prestige if they play the game enough. Not true with mk, some players just may not be capable of being great with all the characters. Also, it would take (shot in the dark here) 100 times as much time playing umk3 to be great with every character than it would to prestige on cod once or twice.

There's prolly a half million people, if not more, who have prestiged on cod4. Get my point?

When you can beat 99% of players with random select without fear of who you get, I'd say, that's adept with every character.
