Weight loss and Working out: Before and After

Lose without excuses

School and life in general has really kept me from working out. I either don't have the time, or I just don't have the energy or will. The not having time thing is definitely an excuse, but even when I do have time, it's like I always seem to say "oh I will just do it tomorrow". I've never been a "fat" person, but I'm definitely getting there if you can believe that. And my body is suffering from it. I'm 23 and it feels like I'm in my late 30's.

Anyway, Phil, how was your diet? Did you buy specifically healthy meals or did you just watch what you ate while exercising? Like drank a bunch of water and tried to stay away from fattening foods and sweets? Or did you not do anything differently as far as eating and just exercised a bunch?

Keep it up Phil, like I said on twitter, you're an inspiration! 9.95

I'll have to look into starting my own account there. The whole forcing yourself to be accountable bit really gets me interested :)
Well, if you're anything like me, you also don't mind being called out when you do something wrong. That's why my diary is public... If I eat like a fatass, EVERYONE gets to call me out on it...and if I care about my weight, then I won't mind being called out. I'm accountable to myself and to everyone else! (to myself is more important, obviously, but the extra incentive helps too)

Yeah getting called out for that kind of stuff would only fuel me to do better. I might be salty for a minute but I'd get over it and realize it's for my own good pretty quickly.

You can see EVERYTHING on my diary... it's public. I count calories and almost everyday I stay under 1200. My daily goal is less than 18oo calories per day, but my personal goal is around 1200. Usually it's just under, but sometimes I go over 1200...rarely though. I also take 1 day a week off the diet to reset the body, quell any cravings, and give myself a mental break.

in order to lose weight you need to eat according to your daily calorie needs and macronutrients like protein fat and carbs.

you need to exercise as well if you dont wanna look like a hiroshima survivor when you lose that fat.

"healthy" eating to lose weight is a misconception, you can eat anything and lose weight as long as you're hitting your -500 calorie deficit everyday, whether that is cookies, ice cream or 50 salads.

I understand not having time. I'm a very busy person, but even I have managed to find some time. It's not will power.. it's WANT power. Know when I watch streams these days? When I'm on the bike or when I'm doing my workouts. That's when I watch netflix too.

If you WANT to do it, you'll find the time... You want to practice SFxT, right? I've seen you online here and there... take some of that time to workout if you WANT to workout. It's priorities, and if SFxT and Injustice will be priority for you, then there's no shame in admitting that...

If you say working out is a priority, then make it one. Simple as that.

you really shouldnt diet like that, you lose weight much easier when youre overweight but when your weight goes down that diet will take its toll, right now your body requires about double the cals youre taking in

eat 1800 a day and youll feel and perform much better

Very true... I've gone through some vast changes in diet as I've been counting calories. I have learned, for me anyway, that I prefer higher volume/lower calorie foods as opposed to lower volume/higher calorie foods.

I just did all my foods for today already........ and it's not pretty. I've doubled my daily sugar limit and It's not even 2PM! I'm supposed to have a 2,200 calorie limit, i'm used to eating more like 3,000 a day because I'm always hungry for that much :p Do you drink a lot of water to help yourself feel fuller and eat less food?

edit: by the way if i click "complete this entry" does it lock me out for the whole day? i dont see a button to just save what i've done so far and leave it at that for now and come back later ;_;

That is a phenomenal transformation mate and you should be proud of yourself.

Im something of a gym rat and really got back into bodybuilding the last couple of months. Im quite clued up on diets if you ever want any advice.

It sounds like a paradox, but you need to eat fats to lose fat. But we're talking good fats, like polys and monos, not saturated fats. Its the carbs that prevent weight loss.

For anyone wanting to lose weight, they ideally want to be eating around only 100grams of carbs a day and about 50grams of fats. Protein is good providing they are good sources of protein.

And like Frothy said, drink lots of water. 3 litres if possible. Yes you will be pissing like a racehorse but water has the added effect of making you feel fuller but it also speeds up your metabolism.

Have carbs in the morning up to lunch, then taper off having no carbs for your last meal.

But from the looks of it, whatever you've been doing has worked so far so awesome achievement dude :)

Don't worry too much about sugar/sodium at the moment. Weight loss is calories in vs. calories out, so focus on meeting your daily calorie goal first.

I do drink a lot of water... I have always consumed a lot of liquid, even when not trying to lose weight. I drink about 17 glasses of water a day. My recommendation is to use MiO to add flavor(there are a lot of MiO clones too, all calorie free, all just as good) to make water more palatable.

No, the "complete entry" does not lock you out.

I had lost 35 from August to December. I gained about 10 back from lifting but I started being more serious about my nutrition a month ago and dropped 5 again. I'll take a picture of me right now and again for the next two months. Currently I weigh 234 at 5'11. When, the school year began I weighed 265 dropped to 230. I want to drop down to 195-210.

this

this is what causes your cravings, you can notice it after wanting something sweet and drinking 2% milk one day and full fat the next, major difference

edit: fuck no, carbs after 8pm isbroscience at its finest

one major thing that dooms beginners is not to expect perfect dieting everyday, if you go like 300cals over your maintenance one day thats no reason to go emo and say "im gaining too? fuck it, ill binge today and always be -500 from tomorrow and on"

fuckups happen all the time.

I hope more of you take the time to post some of your own transformations as well.

Nice Work Phil.

I would think the hardest part about weight loss would be the eating habits and diets.

How much of your favourite stuff could you afford to eat now and then?

It's not such a bad thing if it only happens once in awhile, hell even if you're bulking or cutting, having one cheat meal a week is actually good for the body.
