Possible, yes.

Probable, no.

Cost effective, HELL NO.

This is a very old game... 18 years to be exact. The same age as SSF2T, and when that was remade with "fixes" the ST community hated it. Not that KI doesn't need some work, mind you.

Keep in mind that with every "fix" they'd have to fully re-test the game. That requires man-hours which have to be paid. So instead of just putting an HD coat of paint on an old game... they'd have to pay people to test each and every revision they make to see if each change didn't break something else even further. It's not a good business plan. People want KI... so they spice it up with some crisp HD and give it to us...we eat it up, they profit. If they re-make the game and it doesn't go over well, then it's a losing proposition for them monetarily...bad business. It's just not realistic.
thanx for your reply. i understand that it would cost them lots $$ but an adjustment to 1 character thats OP would be good enough. they could add some more recovery to some of cinder's moves. im not a programmer but i think this should be possible without 2much work.

its ok if they don't and bring us KI like it used 2be, still do i think it would be worth the job. especially if pp can play it competitive online. if they don't, it could mean an early end for KI and the chance of getting ki3 could b slimmer.

You have to think further down the line. Take a look at the tier list I posted. If they change 1 move on Cinder, it's possible that both Orchid and Riptor could conceivably become more overpowered than he is, totally throwing the game off.

If you take a look back at the development history of SSF2T HDR on David Sirlin's website, you'll see that HDR went through numerous changes, particularly with Fei Long. At different times, minor changes him like, his chicken wing having less recovery, made him the most powerful character in the game. Then what? Buff everyone to match him and wind up with more overpowered characters and changes that have to be tested and made? It's a slippery slope that will wind up costing far too much in changes, time, man power and man hours to worry about it. It's really not fundamentally sound.

It's because Rare was not owned by Nintendo. Rare is now owned by Microsoft so unless the games were originally released or published by Nintendo(KI, KI2, and KI Gold), then we'll likely never see any kind of re-make on a Nintendo system. Nintendo retains the right to re-publish its former games via virtual console, so KI and KI Gold are fair game for the WiiU, but you'll never see KI(Arcade) or KI2 on the WiiU.
Ah, ok I knew M$ owns Rare now but the other stuff with Nintendo and the original games and Rare confused me a bit so that's why I asked. Thanks.
