[Updated: Application & Further Detail] Killer Instinct - Microsoft Officially Renews Trademark

The news that broke today is enough to revive an entire herd of Killer Instinct fans. As being reported on the Xbox Live Website, Microsoft has renewed the Killer Instinct trademark. What does this mean? It could mean anything, and hopefully it does mean some kind of either 'HD' collection or maybe even the plans of a new game the fans have been more than desiring for many years now.

We'll keep this on lock and report anything else that comes our way! Stay tuned!

Our legal eagles have authorized us to say: “We have either renewed or refiled a trademark application in various jurisdictions.”

[Update] A few more details being found on GameSpot including the trademark being filed under "Goods & Services". It is also backed by an official September 12th listing, which provides the following information as seen here.

If they're renewing it to make a new game instead of just sitting on the rights to it then it'll probably be awful anyway given Rare's recent history. If it does end up being new and a good game it'll be console exclusive and I imagine a lot of TOs wont care for it since its not on ps3.
