NRS never promised a massive roster. It can just be 1 more than Injustice 1 to be the biggest roster ever

problem is, what you said right after could very well be the case considering we only got 25 characters for MKX on launch (I think I1 had 24 characters at launch). so yeah, unless I see the select screen count today when they show some gameplay, I am holding back from believing it

So NRS wants to do what Super Dragon Ball Z tried a decade ago: instead of "gear" you could level up and customize your fighter with "skills". And later on, what Street Fighter X Tekken did with the whole gems business.

The problem with SDBZ, and the reason it never had any (lasting) success in the tournament scene outside Asia, is that kind of system doesn't allow the players to play the full game from the start.

Right now the biggest obstacle for tournament organizers is they will need all of their copies and stations to have every single possible upgrade unlocked in order for players to be able to play with their desired character. Otherwise 1 of 2 thing will happen: 1) tournaments will be played with no upgrades or 2) the game will simply suffer the same fate of SDBZ and SFXTk.

Hopefully, they have already figured out all the scenarios with professional competition in mind.

Even on a small scale level, gear sounds tedious for competitive play. Will we have to beat arcade mode, complete trials, have random luck with every character to learn all the matchups?

I'm hoping that they're on some PS1 shit and just have a code to temporarily unlock all gear pieces.

I wouldn't really call the t-shirt confirmation (supposing you mean Doctor Fate). out of the characters you mentioned, I'd say Canary is confirmed surely because of what her actress tweeted but for Doctor Fate, I'd rather wait and see.

they promised a massive roster and honestly, I do not believe that statement. other than that, a lot of spots are pre-defined (can't have such a game without superman or wonder woman for example) so that leaves very few spots for more "obscure" characters.

I would normally agree with you, as I am usually a skeptic to these kind of character 'confirmations', but a Doctor Fate helmet on a shirt featuring props from eight other characters we know are playable is confirmation enough for me.

I have a very difficult time seeing a cameo character being included on a shirt along with a bunch of playable characters; he would never be part of marketing. Also, the likelihood of NRS doing NPCs again in any of their fighting games isn't very high, given this conversation.

I hope they get Oded Fehr to voice Doctor Fate. His appearances on Superman:TAS, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited have really made me hear that voice any time I read him in the comics.

In a movie, comic, or show- she can't really offer much that Superman can't.

In a fighting game- plenty, they could play completely different. Batman and Batgirl from Injustice 1 would be a decent example of this, despite the similarities they share.

I'm sure we will get all previous Superheroes and Villains from Injustice I except for if they died in the comics, and for Joker, he's technically dead but he will be in the game because if not people will throw a tantrum and nobody wants him as a DLC. plus, Suicide Squad is coming and it will be out before this game is, which i hope they also give them SS skins. I'm thinking we will get 50 total with DLC like last time, including DLC or not, 50 is the number i'm sticking with. And I'm praying there will be no guest characters like MKX. NO SCORPION OR SUBZERO, give me actual super heroes or villians this is injustice not MK. Also the one person i want most is Poison Ivy, what about you guys?

I'm sure she will play differently, they could give her any of her other worldy abilities that supes doesn't have i'm personally hoping for an Angel Supergirl skin. Plus they will definitely have different ultimates

I guess you're right. Superman is already pretty basic though. I'll just wait and see then.

and we're obviously going to get catwoman, that means only 2 female reveals left to last all the way until 2017.

Supergirl is fucking zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Only reason her inclusion isn't completely terrible is because nobody expected somebody like her to be in from the start.

She's in the upcoming Justice League movie, her chances aren't bad at all.

Yeah I hope they break the 6 female rule this year and have at least 8 on disc, however Boon is a creature of habit.

Injustice only had 30, and that was including DLC. No way in hell will this game have 50 characters. Doubt any NRS game in the near future will.

I'd guess Injustice 2 will probably have 30-40.

I thought it had 24 and 6 dlc? They could have just have 25 on disc to be the biggest, I think it'll be around 28 though, they don't really do big rosters discounting the dlc which hopefully we'll get two packs of. Characters take a lot of time to create, it could be possible that they just bring everyone back with little changes though and have a huge roster.

I don't want it to be a case of over exaggerated hype for a character and then no one plays her. It'll be a waste of a slot

In total including the android/IOS and skins as different characters but on the same character there was over 40 so you never know they could surprise everyone and go big, still guessing all characters will return from Injustice I unless they died in the comics and then they will add more in. I don't think they will ditch any characters just yet since this is only their second game in the series, they will just update their moves a smidgen.
