Top tier abusers VS Character "loyalists"

OK, bro. Next time I see Kano beating Kabal on a tourney I promise I will react the same way I do when I see Kabal beating Kano. Which is like that:
I don't give a fuck how you, personally, react. you are not the reason why the player is at the tourny. You are not the one who pays out prize money, you are not in any way important enough to make someone wish to jeopardize their chance of winning.

There is nothing better when a low tier bodies a high tier. And a Kabal takes execution? lol... If a MK char seems execution heavy doesn´t mean he is execution heavy in general.

As Deyrax mentioned, at a top player level, the execution isn´t the big point. Especially in MK, there are a lot of topplayers which came from other franchises and the big three (UMvC3,SSFIV,SFxT) need more exe then any MK char. The point on using top tiers is, I havn´t lost against you, I lost against your Kabal. Kabals pressure is a little bit braindead, you haven´t to fear a reversal and have pressure for free. I come from the SFxT side, there is no char who has such a braindead pressure. but backtopic

I don´t play to win, I play to learn, the benefit is bigger

Tiers are simply "a summary of current knowledge". Every second you spend on "tears over tiers" is a second you could be spending on exploring the game further. And for your sake it's better to work on improving yourself as a player (which can be done with almost any character unless a character is TOO effective to require as much skill as the rest) and then after like, a year or two, when the game is more or less fully explored, you can take your newly developed player skill and combine it with a more effective character for better results.

For example, 98% of the people who compete in MK9 don't play as well as REO period, so before we even get to Kabal's BS there are more important aspects to improve at than just the character pick.

Giving a shit about tiers in a brand new unexplored game doesn't make you look "hardcore" but like a "tryhard" since it shows you don't really understand the concept and you just like using some big words you read on the internet.

So in summary- Even a multiplayer game is not about what others are doing, but what YOU are doing. It's a journey to improve yourself, and you should be focusing on that, while seeing others only as a measure to test said improvement.

Lol this. All these people going "I AM TIER WHORING DAY 1" are stupid and will not be successful. Tier lists change drastically the first one or two years of a games lifespan, especially due to patching. And then AFTER the tier list settles like in MK now, you have a bunch of people jumping ship to other characters while the character loyalists have had 2 years to play their respective characters, which is why you see people like Wafflez, Dizzy, and WoundCowboy winning tournies. That is not to say tier whoring is impossible, but the only people who can successfully tier whore are those who were really good in the first place(I.e Curbo, CD Jr, etc.)

my favorite old skool mk character is Jax and I struck with him even when he was bad until he got good. I'm starting to realize go with who fits you the best. In ps allstars I tried many characters out looking for the one that screams defense.....when I found out it was Ratchet. I was happy because I play almost all of his game and he mad good. I didn't pick him up because he was good. i pick him up because i loved the character. I feel Raven and KF may be characters for me, since they have defensive tools and offensive tools. I also love both characters from a story/design level too.

Tier whoring is overrated in my opinion. I play Shang because he is my favorite character and because he happens to suit my playstyle. I could drop him and try maining Kabal for a few months, but I think it is unlikely that I would be able to do well with him because he simply does not fit into my strategy and style. In my opinion you should go with the character that suits you, not the one that you or the community thinks is the best.

I think a lot of people didn't read the OP, or don't get the point I'm making. My point is you can be a character loyalist or low tier specialist all day, that's fine. But don't use it as an excuse when you lose and don't be surprised when you do lose. And don't complain about my character being too good when you're free to use whatever character you want. Of course people can do well using "non top tier" or being character loyalists, that is not my point. The issue is them blaming their success or lack their of on them using a bad character. That is YOUR fault, not mine.

It's not even about the tiers, it's about the character potential and the player potential. I see some people pick a top tier just because they think it will win by default, however if you put in no work you will get nothing out of it just like any other character.

I usually main whoever fits my strengths, then I find a character who fits my weak points and play them to learn their weak points.

Tier whoring is lame and people need to learn to play rather than being lazy. My respect goes to those people who pick a top tier unintentionally(they already liked the character) and are successful. I hate when people see a torny and wanna dickride whoever wins then they main whoever they use. Every week these people have a new main it's hilarious.

nobody uses a character because they're bad. If you do that, you're not a low tier hero, you're just an idiot. :p

How good you do with a character regardless of tier comes down to how good you are as a player, how good you are with the character, and how well they suit you in general. Example, I don't think any character clicks as well with me like Noob, even tried using Kenshi but it felt stiff and I lost interest quickly.

I think the best thing to do is pick the character that best compliments you and has the best chance of winning. Blindly tier whoring won't get you anywhere and LBSH the better player will usually win any match up that isn't worse than 7-3 anyway. you can skip tier whoring and just pick good characters that cover bad mu's too.

tl;dr no room for bitching, your losses are on you, basically.

I'm deff a character loyalist. When i first got into fighters I stuck with Ibuki from SF4 for the duration of my playtime (even though i found some of her tech difficult). Tier lists have never really bothered me but that may be because I dont get to hitup many tournaments as the only ones arond where I live are the ones I try to run myself to build a better community where I live. The same goes for this game. I'll most likely play a lantern type character as they are the comics I collect. I'll aim for Sinestro as he is my favorite and also my friend aims to main GL. I'm also interested in Nightwing for the same reason. (I have played some zoners before even though ibuki is rush down i'll spend the time to get used to the playstyle for sinestro if it means i can play my favorite dc character)

Every FG needs top players playing top characters (these will be called tier whores) to expose the game for what it really is.

Lol. I'm not good enough in this game or to tier whore. I started off with Smoke because I suited my play style. Then I moved on to Cyrax because I wanted learn how to play him. His combos looked cool. Then I learned Sub-Zero. I've been playing sub for a year and some change. I like using him. I don't care what he is on any list, because I feel that I'm really good playing him. I don't blame my losses on match ups. I don't say my wins are because of them either. It's me behind the stick.
