That last time flow placed I think in any game was pdp mk9Other players who placed at PowerUp 2011:
Floe
Arturo Sanchez
THTB
Other players who placed at PowerUp 2012:
MK_Legend
Digimon (Sheeva... And Jade)
Players who placed at CEO 2011:
JT Circus
Banana Ken
PR Rog
Arturo Sanchez
Now, while this is not to disparage anyone, and some of these are people that have done well in their main games, the point is... These games change a lot in a short amount of time. And once the games hit their stride, the qualifications to place top 8 at the biggest majors, once competition is at it's highest, goes to another level entirely.
So unless you're also voting Arturo into the MK hall of fame (which I don't think even he would claim), you have to be really careful about comparing early majors with PR Rog making Top 8 to the true heart of competitive MK9 (events like MLG, etc). When you look at who was Top 8 at MLG in 2012 (especially from Anaheim on) and who they had to go through to get there, as well as who was Top 8 at EVO in 2012 and 2013 it's an entirely different story.
I don't think anyone who placed at one of MK9's truly golden-era majors is comparing their results from Seasons Beatings 2011 to say, EVO 2012. Just like you're not going to hear WoundCowboy bragging about placing with Sub Zero at MWC 2015 and trying to hold it up with SCR 2016 or something. It's just a different measuring stick before the game's competitive community solidifies.
It's ok Tom. Me, you and Wafflez can argue MK9 resumes in the old folks home forever. No, but again.. all the sz's that have ever competed in the USA are in the same boat as me at big USA majors. I'm not claiming anything in MKX. I mean, im not here to argue with you. You say i was bad at all 3 games, so I was bad lol. No conversation will change that.
Tom's issue imo is that he ties results to his character, rather than to.... Idk, maybe Madzin, Buffalo and him just weren't able to get top 8 all of those times.Well yea, then they've all failed lol. A 17th isn't even worth mentioning. You know better....
Not true a large # of players don't attend EC majors during mk9-inj and mkxBut regardless you see my point? An Evo top 8 doesn't automatically make you better than everyone, you just played exceptionally well that particular weekend. I understand all the glory behind an Evo top 8, but when comparing skill between players one Evo top 8 is not better than 10 major top 8's. There are alot of major tournaments where almost all the best players go anyways (CEO, Combo Breaker, KIT) so they are almost just as hard as Evo, Evo just has like 800+ pot monsters thrown in the mix
Ok you were cool until you posted this KItanaCowboy and myself achieved great success with our low tier characters.
Actually community isn'tThis community is lucky that you are retired.
No man, I dont think i was top at MKX. I'd for sure give Madzin the nod as a top player overall though. It doesnt matter if he was a loyalist or not because results matter and not who you used to get them. He also does have quality wins vs top players. IMO, he would have prob never missed a top 8 in the USA if he mained Lasher Takeda, Smoke, etc..Tom's issue imo is that he ties results to his character, rather than to.... Idk, maybe Madzin, Buffalo and him just weren't able to get top 8 all of those times.
Call outs fam?Actually community isn't
Community is f ing boring and lame. Top players currently have the most forgettable attitudes and personas
I cringe when I see people put themselves in their top whatever listI know this looks like a dozen other threads we've seen on TYM before, but this one's actually different. I want to talk about the best NRS players in general, as in all 3 NRS games. If you are only good at MK9, you won't be making this list. If you've only played MKX and Injustice, you aren't making this list. In order to make this list, you have to be great at ALL 3 NRS games and have a good tournament resume to back it up for all 3.
So without further delay, I'll announce the top 3 in my opinion.
Sonicfox
DJT
ForeverKing
In my opinion, this is the undebatable top 3. These 3 players all won tournaments and placed many top 8's in all 3 games, and in their primes were basically able to beat any other player on the planet in all 3 games. As far as tournament results go, the top 3 is uncontested.
The next 2 spots can become very debatable though. I'll name a few contestants and some honorable mentions as well:
MIT - Evo medals in all 3 games
Wound Cowboy - Top 20 player in MK9 and Injustice, top 10 player in MKX
Foxy Grampa - If he would have traveled more for MK9/Injustice I can almost guarantee his results would as good as the top 3 or better
REO - Many top 8's across all 3 games, stopped playing Injustice very early though
Perfect Legend - Many top 8's in Injustice/MK9, MKX a little rough though made ESL finals a few times
Pig of the Hut - Same boat as Perfect Legend
Slayer - Top 8's across all 3 games, MKX was his best for sure not super top in the others
M2Dave - Did very well in MK9, would have probably done the same in the other 2 games if he traveled
Noobe - Very solid in all 3 games
Gross - Very solid in all 3 games
Ketchup & Mustard - Very solid in all 3 games
As far as tournament results go, I'd have to give the next two spots to MIT and Wound Cowboy. As far as honest opinion goes, I would probably swap out Wound for Foxy because Foxy is just ridiculous but didn't get to compete offline that often in the first two games.
So what do you guys think? Did I miss any honorable mentions? Also Happy New Years TYM
Say what u want about pl, cd, P2w, M2dave, Maxter, tom, 16 bit, cd Jr, Reo, kdz, myself and some others but at least we had personality and the rivalries were realCall outs fam?
I think it's just because people are super sensitive. Like people take this beyond a video game when it comes to shit talking sometimes. A lot of people don't know how to separate real life from playing a video game. Tweedy on the other hand is just annoying lol. Nothing to do with his play or anything. Just annoying and super self centered. Whether it's an act or not is beyond care by me or a lot of people. It just drags on to the point where it's like "alright I gotta block this guy." That's just me though. I don't mind people talking shit. It's fun and spices things up but what he does just...bleh.Say what u want about pl, cd, P2w, M2dave, Maxter, tom, 16 bit, cd Jr, Reo, kdz, myself and some others but at least we had personality and the rivalries were real
Now a days it's about hugs n kisses and "oh god plz be nice" and "YO bro where's the weed at let's get toked"
Just different and lame
@Tweedy is a new school player who belongs in old school though that's why it was refreshing
So if for example Hayatei made a top 5 Takeda player tier list, he shouldn't put himself in it? But isn't it obvious that he should be up there, so it would be weird to not include himself in it?I cringe when I see people put themselves in their top whatever list
It's debatable. You could say MIT edges him out because Evo medal in all games, or you could say Cowboy got more top 8's in Injustice then him. It's a tough callI wanna hear reasons for why people don't put Cowboy in Top 5
I aint biggest fan of dude *Sinestro keeping that shit with Trait+Pushblock would have been broke* but the resume speaks for itself
Nah I hear what you're saying but I think it's more of the era. We live in the "participation award" era and it shows with the new generation of players.I think it's just because people are super sensitive. I do agree though that people are a little too friendly. Like nah Bruh I'm tryna mop in Injustice 2. I would've given it a shot with this game but it took me too long to migrate to PS4 and Injustice 2 is around the corner. Hopefully I hold my own when Injustice 2 comes and I wanna call people out. It'll be fun, entertaining, and it'll really drive the competitive aspect
Because this thread doesn't have any relevance anyway and I didn't want to pick anyone else in the listDizzy was absent for Injustice almost entirely. How can you be a top 3 player for all 3 games when you only competed in 2/3?
There's a reason "The Dizzy Knee" is a thing. Watch VODs of this mans matches in MK9 tournaments.I've always wondered how big of an asterisk there is next to Dizzy's Combo Breaker win.
From what I understand he had access to the game 4-5 months in advance?
I'd win Combo Breaker this year if they gave me Injustice 2 right now. That's way too much of an advantage.
Not taking it seriously.
