I don't think it's that everyone necessarily enjoyed playing as these characters but they love them lore/background/design or even just nostalgia wise after all the characters that everyone expects to make it in the game.

True but I would figure both would be more popular than say Baraka lol.
I mean, most of the time, people were more trying to be original than making likely choices. That's why many lists had characters that will never make it anywhere close to the games in the next 10 years. Also it's always important to remember that we are not even representing 1% of the MK community.

That's because they're regular characters, they always appear in most games. Kenshi hasn't really missed a traditional MK since his debut in MKDA.

Of course, the MK fanbase is huge. Its all widespread from generation to generation. I try to look at it from a realistic choice, obviously all or most MK characters are popular but some more than others.
Mileena is also a regular, though the fact that she died like Jade would naturally demand some attention however death in MKU doesn't really mean much lol. Yeah, I feel like Kenshi has been in a ton of MK games from like 3d era onward with the exception of MK vs DC. Ermac has been in 5 games which considering the age of his existence is actually not as much as one would think. Still, I think there will always be a demand for the ninjas in general. If Cage winds up getting in MK 11(looks like he will) I have a friend who will be very happy. He's a casual gamer, but loves Cage.

Nice, CRKfiend on here mained him, and my friend just loves Stryker's story. I used him as like my 5th guy in MK 9. He was fun to play with for sure. He isn't my first choice when picking a main character, but he is still in my favorite top 5 characters.

Yeah, that's true to her character. I hope they don't miss the chance to establish a 'Free Edenia' faction led by Tanya and Rain. That would be awesome.
