Tbh Dave, zod and Freddy are both cheap in a sense and not about spacing. Zod punishes you for being patient, which is what good anti-zoners/ the rush downer should be. He also has way too good of escappability.

Freddy has the similar issue, of where you can constantly escape having to play footsies or defense, by back pedaling the whole game and literally killing the opponent with projectiles.

Don't get me wrong, You are insanely good at the neutral game and these aspects of keepaway, but the character can be a crutch. I love how you played kung Lao matchup,

I hope mkx zoners are about containing space and punishing impatience. And rush downers are about getting in patiently, and the game forces you to win with footsies not godlike runaway. Dhalsim is a good archetype.

Second of all, I agree. Zod is broken.

But I actually thought that Freddy was a well-balanced top tier zoning character. The zoning was very powerful, but he did not punish you for being patient like Zod did.

Freddy can punish you for jumping a projectile late for 45%. The only thing that keeps him "balanced" is smoke randomly 8-2ing his ass. he was pretty insane.

Watch how Dizzy and Master D. fought Freddy. There was barely ever any jumping. They approached Freddy by dashing. You could get in if you are patient and know how to.

On the other hand, dashing against Zod is nowhere near as effective as it is against Freddy because of MB low laser. You cannot be patient because trait recharges on its own. You cannot jump at all because of instant aerial Zod balls.

and that was the problem- imagine being m2dave, and playing all of these 6-4 7-3 matchups all day, and thinking you're a brilliant player, and then a smoke/raiden etc comes on and all of the sudden hes powerless because he doesnt have the ability to adapt like the freddy players can who can fight smoke punch for punch. Same thing happened when the teleporting characters showed up in injustice, m2dave wanted each of them banned because he needs to be in a situation where the projectiles play themselves, no thought can be required. He speaks of "anti zoning" as if its a form of prejudice- when in fact he is prejudice towards the Anti-Zoning play style.

Cage is one of the few chars with an adequate dash block when it comes to that aspect. He's got quite a few 6-4/7-3s

Tbh i thought Dave was great at the lao mu and that's a great counterzone r, can't speak for raiden.



The characters I feel need nerfs in mk9, are Sonya, kabal, Cyrax (might as well delete him), kung Lao, smoke (resets, smoke bomb recovery), Freddy (not sure what I'd do) kenshi, cage ( minor tweaks to frame data), jax (fix string and infinite and reduce gp cancel spam ability). Liu Kangs recovery on whiff.


Idk, Freddy always felt a bit ludicrous when you consider the recovery on his specials and his damage, but I'm an advocate for nerfing stuff (not because I can't deal with it, but because it dilutes the game)

The Best.
Fyi dave mk9 and injustice are the only few games were a 50/50 is minus on block or punishable. Every other fighter -including the oh so perfect neutral- streetfighter has characters with 50/50s that are + and lead into more mixups. The mixups in injustice is a mere child to other fighting games.
