Neo, does that go for you as well? Or you actually at TYM because you LIKE MK ? Just curious. I have SSFIV, didn't buy MvC didn't care for the second one. Lots of screen sized laser beams and such didn't do it for me.

I enjoyed SSFIV, just didn't really get into it like these guys do. This I am trying, but it's not getting me anywhere. Not trying to sound like a bitchfest at all, just digging around to see who'd actually get into this release in particular.

Yeah I don't hold much opinion around here about games unless I still here the same hype talk for at least 2 or 3 months. I play what I like and keep playin. Even after SC4 died real fast around here I kept playin, so did sword. I play MK cuz I like it and played it since I was a kid. I'll keep playin tekken as well. I try stuff out like everyone else but most capcom games kinda bore me. To each thier own though, I play what I like :)

Vegeta are you SoVA? I was just curious as I haven't seen you much over at SRK. I see a lot of cross posting on the forums is what I mean. I'm pretty much a free win at MK. I can do the combos in training mode but I just fat finger the fuck out of everything when put under pressure. I figured the only way to get over that is play people. Online seems to be weird, like something I should be able to punish in a frame or two just doesn't go through and such.

It could be me just being supernoob at fighters in general. I totally played MK2&SF alot when I was a kid, but it was all "I play winner" after school. It wasn't really a scene or people to actually open what guys call high level play. I'm 30 and my twitch and what it used to be. I do give 'er hell though.

Yeah I actually used to dig Soul Calibur, I never played the 4th. I stopped at 2. I also really liked Virtua Fighter, but since nobody played it (at the time, I wasn't really aware of a scene) I just kinda fizzled out on them. Pointless if you don't have people to play.

Don't be scared, homie.

Definitely not. I played SF4 when it was big here, but couldn't really get into the game. Same with MvC3. I've stuck by Tekken since the beginning and I enjoy MK. I even played BlazBlue for a while, but again, that game became a flavor of the month and people stopped playing it. So, it is what it is. The current SoVA seems to be Capcom only. They'll hop on a game for a little while, then give it up and go back to whatever the "hot" game is.

Well, shit man, even if it is just a handful of us I wouldn't mind trying to get a little thing going if you want man. Hit me up sometime if you'd like. I really need to get some offline play time in because these training dummies aren't helping me at all :)

I did black, pretty good stuff. I gotta put my own stuff up. But I say again, wailon has RETARTED juggles with his characters LOL. You know how that dude does. damage scaling kills a lotta the end damage but the amount of hits is just stupid LOL

Well here's my mini combo vid. Just recorded my staples, 2 for each character I use. Also at the end, used my favorite babality out of all of em, I think this and cyrax's are the funniest ones LOL
Workin on a huge combo vid for all my and swords combos. Turnin out to be pretty mean lol

So, I've been thinking very hard about this one but wanted to get input. It's been a while since I've done it, and I've thought about bringing the ranbats back. I'd really love to do it for MK cause it looks like we could get a decent turnout for it. Probably not as big as say the Capcom games but decent enough.

What I'd like to know is how many people are currently trying to play this game seriously enough to want to do this besides Nick and me? Also, how many of you are coming to the sesh tomorrow? We've been playing lots of MK lately. Heck, I haven't even touched Marvel since MK came out. LOL!

Sully

I am pretty sure Nick has said "MK fucking sucks" several times over at SRK? He's playing it? Blackie, I haven't even got to play any real people since the game came out, I'd be a free win at ranbats. I'm absolutely interested in learning it though.

There are far more people playing MK9 than it may seem. There are people playing at gatherings who don't frequent the forums at all or don't even know about the forums.

Sully

Noob
DBC, that's probably true. I'm not exactly pro at ferreting those guys out though either. I'm not a scene guy vet or anything. Most of my play is going to end up plateauing into mediocre realistically.

Still, it's good to see people posting up here, too. The Team Spooky cast was pretty awesome, definitely some wild shit.

Also, good to see you here, man. I think last time I saw you was the SSFIV tourney at Game N Trade. You may not remember me, new guy, bad at fighting games. haha

Man, they had 13K in the stream watching MK. That's pretty freakin awesome.

And good shit to Bill for winning it.

Blackie, when I saw him on the stream I lolled so hard. I didn't even realize I had met "Tom Brady" last time I was at your place. I was like "Hey I know who that guy is"

I had to ask my wife because I suck with names/faces. It was really awesome. I got about as hyped as this guy gets, which isn't much watching it. I kept getting laughed at because I was laughing and yelling at screen at the pad. haha

I remember everyone, lol. The very first I met you was at Aimforthefeet's place back when you were living in Norfolk, so yeah, I forgotten.

DBC, yeah man that was me. Newb . . . hell I'm still a newb. I had to take a fighting game hiatus with the whole job/buying house thing, and I am trying to get something going for this new MK release. It's AWESOME. I am fairly content with just being present to show support, since I am definitely not very good.

I kinda wish I still lived in Norfolk, since there's more shit going on for this over there, but it sounds like people are popping out of the woodwork. I got some PMs and some generated interest so it could be something to get hyped about. TBD if it'll have the staying power of Street Fighter, but if they're going to continually support it with potential improvements it could really be something to watch.

I'm definitely all jazzed about it after watching that shit tonight. Been screwing around in the lab off and on and bouncing back and forth between here and SRK!

I may be there, depending on when u guys stop. I get off work at 11pm so...yeah, usually hit home bout 11:40 then it's bout 10 mins to blacks
ALso randbats could be good, I need to seriously play against all the chars in this game and figure out the more 3Dish MK mechanics in this game. I'm all for playing seriously. It'll be this, tekken and SC (whenever the new one comes out)

I'm going to open the doors at 7:30.

Vegeta, just come by when you get off work. We'll still be gaming.

Blackie, you got space for a scrub you haven't seen in a good while? :D

Any of you clowns that live on the Penninsula going to Black's today? I'm free for the day so if you want to get in MK before hand let me know.

Last Saturday we had a hosting in Norfolk with lots of MK. We had MK going for the entirety of the thing (we set things up around 2pm and didn't take things down until 4:30am), and it was a total blast. A lot of people showed up and everybody played it. 4-player 2v2 is a lot of fun in casual play. I also have no idea how to play Quan-chi in an actual match, though I think I should start using his whiffed teleports. Shang-tsung is way slow, and Kitana is awesome.

I also finally finished the challenged around 4:00am. Challenge 300 was honestly the only time the entire tower forced me to learn something instead of just cheesing the AI. With all of the buff and debuffs going on and Mileena deciding to be way more agressive than I've ever seen the game's AI ever be (literally 5 seconds of constant sai spam), I looked up a decent combo with Ermac to speed up the boss-parts of it and to take Mileena out faster. Worked really well. The reward is pretty terrible.

The PowerUp finals yesterday were a lot of fun to watch, and congrats to Tom Brady. It was interesting how we've been seeing all sorts of crazy combo videos for characters but he stuck a smaller, tried and true combo for Sub-Zero. I also really hope Cyber Sub-Zero's gameplay develops in a different direction, because the dive kick spam was really boring.

Went out to Blackies tonight. I actually wanted to stay longer and try to pick up more shit. Couldn't. Honestly, I was nervous as hell and fat fingering my execution something horrible. I need to play people more. It was REALLY fun though, and I think there was a good group of guys there.

I'll say it again, any of you clowns around the Penninsula who just want to run some matches, let me know. Doesn't have to be official SoVA shit. I don't want to mess with online, I want to learn more. The game definitely needs more Kanoball ...

I don't know why I found that amusing. I'm really frekkin' tired. Have fun kids.

GG's tonight. First time I fought a variety of characters and humans at that. I did horrible. Unforgivable compared to my old school MK skills. I need to learn more of the mechanics, get my muscle memory for this game together(I had to think of what to do the whole time) and learn the matchups. I'll come back STRONG. Count on it. :)
