The Official Boston/New England Thread

Starting to get kinda discouraged about the idea of playing this game offline. In the past two weeks Dolfy and I have been to GU, X1, Balance Patch, and One Up Games on their respective fight nights. At X1 and One Up, Dolfy and I were the only Injustice 2 players; at Balance Patch and GU there was one other person. In fairness, Shine was last weekend so this may have been a bad time to try to go to X1, but Shine wasn't running Injustice 2 so I didn't think it would matter.

If anyone is still reading this thread, post in here with whatever venues you can reasonably make it to on the night they do fighting games. If there's enough of us maybe we can try to coordinate. The ones I'm aware of are:

Game Underground (Natick MA, Fridays)
Balance Patch (Boston MA, Mondays)
X-One Elite Gaming Lounge (Providence RI, Sundays)
One Up Games (Plainsville MA, Thursdays)
Double Midnight Comics (Manchester NH, wednesdays)
Arcadia (Portland ME, monthly on tuesdays)
Jetpack Comics (Rochester NH, not sure)

I feel like there was probably a venue in CT but I don't remember.

Is anyone actually playing at Game Underground in Natick? I could certainly make it down on Friday nights to play but I haven't had much luck there in the past for Netherrealm games. (Definitely go if you're an SF5 player) I went several times to play MKX last year and only one night did other MKX players (2, in addition to me so 3 total) showed up.

If there is a regular group of people going to play Injustice 2 on Friday nights I could definitely make the trip. I only wish they had not moved the store inside the mall as they close at like 10pm now. When they were attached, but not inside, the mall they used to stay open until like 2am sometimes on a Friday. So by the time I get out work on a Friday, commute there and eat something it will already be close to 7:00 which doesn't leave a ton a time. I'll certainly do it if people are 100% showing up though.

The new GU location is definitely a huge bummer for this reason, it's not really worth it for anyone who would be traveling a long way. I'm still going every Friday that I'm available because it's 10 minutes from where I live, but that's not as often as I'd like since Friday's not a super great day for me just in general. If we're going to try to get a large group of people to go to the same venue on the same day, it might be better to aim for Balance Patch or X1 since they're open longer.

Yea the new location is a bummer. I'm about 25 minutes from Natick, whether i"m at home or coming from work. Although leaving on a Friday night from work I do run into traffic that can stretch that closer to 35 minutes. I will be out of town for the event on 9/16 but I could make the next one with sufficient heads up. If there is an upcoming Friday we can get several people to agree on I'll absolutely show up. Even if it is just a couple of people I would still be down as I'm always interested in playing locally when possible, I just want to make sure if I show that at least 1 person is there.

My work schedule changed so I can't make anything until 9pm every night. It sucks but if something coordinated happens I'll try to come as well. GU in the mall stops me from realistically going for now, i'm not driving 1.25 hours each way to play for one. Never been to X1 or Balance Patch, are they welcoming to scrubs like me?

X1 is definitely welcoming. I've only been to Balance Patch once, but it looks like Lucky D is the one running the fighting game stuff there, so I have confidence it will run well.

X1 is welcoming to everyone I help run the place when I am around. Also you guys can join our discord to keep up to date.

Been busy af with Summer Jam and Shine so haven't been able to promote much but would love to see more faces this Sunday or next Sunday joining in!

I will be also playing now that can focus again.

Balance Patch apparently does their meetups on Fridays, not Mondays. Having it last Monday was a one time thing. Dolfy and I are trying to roll up this Friday if anyone's interested.

Anybody know any weekly spots in/near Connecticut? I’m around the Hartford area
There are weekly events in Manchester run at Grid Games by GVS (Great Valve Smash). They do more tradition fighting games every other Tuesday like SFV GG and MVCI. They also host Smash events every other Sunday and every Thursday. They are manly Smash Games focused so attendance for the traditional fighting games is kinda low. There is also another spot in Milford I believe. I think the weekly there is called Shockwave and its every Thursday at Fire and Dice Gaming I believe. They don't do any Smash games and focus on traditional fighters. They usually have better turn outs for games like SFV Injustice and Tekken 7.
