The new GU location is definitely a huge bummer for this reason, it's not really worth it for anyone who would be traveling a long way. I'm still going every Friday that I'm available because it's 10 minutes from where I live, but that's not as often as I'd like since Friday's not a super great day for me just in general. If we're going to try to get a large group of people to go to the same venue on the same day, it might be better to aim for Balance Patch or X1 since they're open longer. If there is a regular group of people going to play Injustice 2 on Friday nights I could definitely make the trip. I only wish they had not moved the store inside the mall as they close at like 10pm now. When they were attached, but not inside, the mall they used to stay open until like 2am sometimes on a Friday. So by the time I get out work on a Friday, commute there and eat something it will already be close to 7:00 which doesn't leave a ton a time. I'll certainly do it if people are 100% showing up though.
Yea the new location is a bummer. I'm about 25 minutes from Natick, whether i"m at home or coming from work. Although leaving on a Friday night from work I do run into traffic that can stretch that closer to 35 minutes. I will be out of town for the event on 9/16 but I could make the next one with sufficient heads up. If there is an upcoming Friday we can get several people to agree on I'll absolutely show up. Even if it is just a couple of people I would still be down as I'm always interested in playing locally when possible, I just want to make sure if I show that at least 1 person is there. The new GU location is definitely a huge bummer for this reason, it's not really worth it for anyone who would be traveling a long way. Thanks, just joined. While I'm in here I should also throw a link to the Massachusetts Injustice discord: https://discord.gg/evHgY3D
X1 is definitely welcoming. I've only been to Balance Patch once, but it looks like Lucky D is the one running the fighting game stuff there, so I have confidence it will run well.My work schedule changed so I can't make anything until 9pm every night. It sucks but if something coordinated happens I'll try to come as well. GU in the mall stops me from realistically going for now, i'm not driving 1.25 hours each way to play for one. Never been to X1 or Balance Patch, are they welcoming to scrubs like me?
That is welcome news! I'll stay informed and hopefully you can all meet my wowo in person soon enough.X1 is definitely welcoming. I've only been to Balance Patch once, but it looks like Lucky D is the one running the fighting game stuff there, so I have confidence it will run well.
There are weekly events in Manchester run at Grid Games by GVS (Great Valve Smash). They do more tradition fighting games every other Tuesday like SFV GG and MVCI. They also host Smash events every other Sunday and every Thursday. They are manly Smash Games focused so attendance for the traditional fighting games is kinda low. There is also another spot in Milford I believe. I think the weekly there is called Shockwave and its every Thursday at Fire and Dice Gaming I believe. They don't do any Smash games and focus on traditional fighters. They usually have better turn outs for games like SFV Injustice and Tekken 7.Anybody know any weekly spots in/near Connecticut? I’m around the Hartford area
