The Green Will Humble You - Swamp Thing Combo Thread

Has anybody found a use for 113? -11 on block, not cancellable, not a hard knockdown but 30 advantage...seems pretty useless.
Its only real use is that its fast and can break armor/wakeups. It also has a disjointed hurtbox so the 11 part that sticks out cant be hit.

Standing 1 can also be decent anti air. I used to stuff jump ins with like 1 11xxclose vine grab.

Right, 11 is useful for all the reasons you and matt mentioned, but pressing that 3 seems like a waste lol. I wish the whole string was cancellable.

Only real use I've seen is as a combo ender, but it knocks them full screen which isn't really what you want. And if you're comboing the 1,1 you might as well cancel to Vine grab for damage / mid-range pressure anyways.

Not sure if this was discussed, but if you hit a raw grounded D2, you can link F23 xx clone and do the bnb. It's a bit tight but it works. If that's too hard, B232 xx close vine grab also works for slightly less damage. If you D2 them airborne then the F23 is free.

Why is such a stupid combo in the op?
Any newbie would drop swamp after 5 seconds? Lol
Combo is too hard for you so it shouldn't be listed in op? Honestly swamp thing has some extremely tight links which I'm ok with if there is a more generous link for less damage. (Which there isn't)

You said why is such a hard combo in the original post? Bro if he didn't list the combos that had tough links, half of the crap would be gone. Swamp thing is dumb, not original poster's fault.

My bnb for mid screen:J2xx21xxBF3MBxxF23xxDB3xx11xxDF1B.I love the 21 string for that initial overhead but it's really slow on start up. and I found you can use it to start this combo and as a 50/50 you can replace it with B232 for a guessing game of low and overhead.
Corner 1 bar trait set up(you can also replace 21 in this combo as well)21xxDB2MBxxD2xx4xx11DF1up
This one works well to use Abigail's garden but also get a decent damage combo.they take big damage and find themselves in your trait in the corner. The mix-ups do the rest

B232 DBMB 4 11 BF3 MB F23 DF22 into AG.

13 hits 726 damage + 32-40 AG damage by itself.
Idk where the hell you're getting that damage from in competitive mode...

Anyways, if you're going to burn that many resources end the combo with b232xxdf22 instead of f23xxdf22. You max out the length of the garden this way and it puts the opponent right in the middle which will keep them contained if they backdash on wake up.

Hmm. I actually didn't know you could change practice mode to competitive settings. I got the damage vs Batman in practice mode, both stock characters. My bad.

B232 DF22 is better, I just tend to mess up timing on it way too much. So, I go for the easier, but more likely to connect set up I can do more often. I don't run into a lot of players that wake up back-dash either.

All good. At stage select (on PS4), press square then L1. Profit.

Now an even BETTER combo to use for the same amount of resources is this:

Stringxxbf3MB, f2xxbbMB, 4, b232xxdf22

It's better for a couple reasons. Bf3MB combos off more strings than b3 bounce cancel does and you can hit confirm the bounce easier mid combo since bfMB3 is one bar versus committing to b3 bounce cancel in a string for two.

Figured I'd just file dump this here off my phone because sharing is caring? Anyways, these are what I feel his optimal combos are for the amount of resources used and what set ups it can create i.e. burst damage scenarios. You all can figure out the damage. Also, I skipped writing down BGB combos because they are so inconsistent and shit with ST. Usually I just do a bnb such as Stringxxbf3MB, f23xxdb3, 1xxbgb, 2xxdf1u to get my damage with bgb so there you go. Guide should be easy enough to understand. I may even make a legit guide one day if he gets some solid buffs. Til then, he's trash.

I'm going to majorly update this shit, it needs it.
You should start fresh if anything with a combo thread. Once I see the patch notes and if I deem him viable I'll make a guide for him like I did Noob back in MK9. It'd be easier for everyone imo if all the competitive information for the character was in one place.

Most reliable corner damage & setups I have found:

F233, 11 MB Tree 11 close Vines. Super simple and excellent 1 bar damage.
F233, 11 MB Tree, D2 Clone, 1 Green Thumb. More difficult, but allows for more shenanigans b/c of GT ender.
F233, D2 Clone, 11 close Vines. Easy meterless damage.
MB F3, D2 Trait, 11 close Vines. Best corner trait setup at the moment. All the others do less damage with less reliable starters.

Midscreen Trait Setup (on block or hit):

(J2) B223 Trait, MB Roll. I don't know why more Swamp Thing players aren't doing this--it's top notch on both block and hit. Most opponents respect the gap in B223 and give you free plus frames. This setup is seriously good unless you have an opponent who dashes or stuffs your gaps.
