Tekken Tag Tournament 2 General Discussion

Well I caved in and bought this while food shopping this evening.

Been in the lab, just practising with old characters. Bruce Irvine is STILL bad ass. I need to get used to the game again before trying out someone like KING, but wow....Steve Fox is amazing! Think I found my first team, Steve and Bruce.

I've just played this tonight on my stick. You could probably play this game on a pad if you adopted claw hand, but for this game, especially lengthy grabs or 10 hit combos, I think your right hand needs to be free to hit large buttons as opposed to small.

Yeah, this game is awesome!

Can someone answer this for me:

Kazuya has two moves that appear to have the exact same launching properties (the moves look identical)

1) F(N)D-F+2
2) F(N)DD-FF+2

D-F means pressing both at the same time

Is this to accommodate two types of player. Do both moves have different frame data? I noticed the second one, Kazuya ducks down a lot more and does that "dash" type thing before launching. The other one is more sudden. I dunno how to describe it really. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

It's the Wind God Fist(WGF) aka Rising uppercut F(N)D-F+2, and the Electric Wind God Fist F(N)DF+2.
Both are duckable and can be punished. The difference is that the EWGF is safe only block, it's much faster, offers a buch of pushback, and leads to damaging juggle combos. While the WGF is jab punishable on block.

You have to press DF and 2 at the same time for it to work. Your controller will vibrate, he will yell, and have electricity around him when executed correctly.

They don't do much other than make Kaz's EWGF easier, from what I've noticed.

Hmm so the longer one (which I find easier) is actually safer?

Btw the F(N)D-F+2 is officially called "Mist Wind God Fist" while the F(N)DD-F+2 is called the "Wind God Fist". Isn't EWGF the term for another of the Mishimas? So out of the two I mentioned are you saying Wind God Fist (no Mist lol) is safer?

Btw I have no problem doing either one just need to get it down consistently.

Those inputs have nothing to do with getting the EWGF. The Mist Wind God Fist is just a WGF after a Mist Step, which is done by tapping forward, then going back to neutral. The EWGF is a result of hitting the last 2 inputs within, IIRC, like 4 frames of each other.

I'm not sure how it works in TTT2. I ddnt pick the game up yet:oops:. In T6 it's not a matter of how fast you input the EWGF as a whole, but a matter of if you press df+2 within the small window. If you tap forward then hit df+2 at the same time it will come off virtually every time.

Works with all Mishimas.

No the shorter version is the safer of the two. Remember both can be punished hard by WS (while standing) moves if read and crouched.

ALL Mishimas can do the EWGF; (not sure about Jinpachi)
-Jin
-Kazuya
-Heihachi
-Devil Jin

It's a hidden move, and it's not in the moves list. The EWGF is a safer version of the Mishima rising uppercut because of the pushback on block. It's also faster, so you can do about 3 in succession in a combo.

I was watching some tournament footage of T6 and I like how Bruce is portrayed as a classic Muay Thai fighter with the stance, heavy leg kicks, elbows and knees instead of having some made up bs moves like a launching flip kick or some other movie/fantasy crap.

Eh... i am honestly hyped for BL2 and i'm back playing tekken and i'll probably buy BL2 trying to get a group started so it's your choice man , BL co-op with mics is damn fun and Tekken takes a while to get used to from a beginner point soooo i'd say BL is a more immediate source of fun ;)

TL:DR Choose whatever ya wanna choose

EWGF is so good in TTT2 that huge hitbox is really tough to step / backdash unlike T6 , im glad Mishimas are back.
Bryans df1 series got HELLA nerfed , you can sidestep it all day , well...still piss easy to HC , the new low b db4 on hit juggles with a guaranteed JU lol , still slow as hell

yeah,i got a problem with my mic, can't find the damn usb cable to recharge

im really torn, both games look like id like,TTT2 is something a LOT of my friends play so its kinda like my sfxt experience, barely have time to train before playing with a friend and i didn't take it as competitive as MK9 so i was enjoying it even when i lost simply because of the lack of lag.

but BL is a game ive always loved,me and SUOMIPOIKA started a coop playthrough like a week ago which showed me how some classes are OP and some are UP and from what i've seen everyones been buffed like hell in BL2.

ill only use axton or zero so that limits the char choice as well :/,idk when ill be able to buy it,however im strongly leaning towards TTT2

best moment ive had in BL was playing the zombie island of dr ned offline with my buddy for 2 sessions of 8 hours, damn awesome survival horror, outa ammo and having kamikaze bitches charging at you lol

Jinpachi does not have the EWGF. He is less of a mishima then the others. And he is also god damn fun to play lol.

Bruce is awesome in this. He does have a back flip move but it looks more acrobatic than ridiculous, you can cancel the back flip into a forward kick as well. Bruce has great range I find but he seems to be more of a poking machine than a pure juggle monster. His knee launcher has deceptive range however.
