Some Japanese stream monster on KuroKuro's stream translated Knee's words to English and he claimed that Knee said Negan isn't good. In my opinion Knee plays too defensively and Negan's kit isn't designed for that. You need to get in on that ass with jabs/df1/db4/b1/b2 and utilize his advancing moves with a variety of timings to chase backdashes after pokes get blocked, force + on block mids and eventually force the wall game. I'd be interested to see what players like Saint, Nobi, Anakin, AK, El Negro Piripicho etc. who press more buttons, play at a faster pace and commit to more reads with unsafe moves accomplish with the character.
I played on thursday and friday against my buddy who is Tekken King (s2 ranks lul but anyway). We both went through Negan's kit and traded a bunch of information. I was able to pretty much destroy all his current characters, Kazumi, Shaheen, Katarina, Noctis and Asuka. He adjusted slowly and it got progressively closer but I was able to readjust and fine tune my approach and beat him in bursts of 2/3 and 3/4. We usually go back and forth but I haven't been able to dominate him like this in a long time.
some noteworthy anti Negan tech that needs to be explored is as follows so far:
db2 and whether you can actually block it on reaction - Someone claimed it was 24 frames, I haven't ran any testing on it. Speedkicks ran some and as far as I watched his stream he wasn't able to block it consistently. Negan's posture doesn't drop and the animation is quite subtle and not a snake edge type sweep with the tell-tale posture drop and far reaching spinning leg.
intimidation mix up at the wall - getting hit by db2 means you have to either guess or potentially attempt to fuzzy between int 1 and int 1+3. Int 1+3 is an untechable throw that wallsplats. Whether or not the mix up is fuzzyable is something that should be investigated, although the timing of the mid can be delayed and there are other mids from that stance as well but those are not fast enough to be legit frametraps. Int 1 can be parried or reversed after you get hit by db2 though. Just buffer during hit animation and mash the crap out of b1+3/b2+4 or what have you.
countering the power crush - playing defensively and trying to bait df2 and f1+2 means you are playing scared and losing the neutral by not being active enough. You need to approach with df1's and single jabs or lows so even if you trade with the power crush you won't get launched or you CH the power crush with a low.
