What the fuck? I am the only that fails to realize how some equipment that is streaming a video game presents any threat to anything? I just don't get it. Maybe I'm dumb, maybe they're dumb, but of all places how does a video game tournament present any threat at all? I just don't get it.

The only possibility (which I've heard might be true) is that they misinterpreted something they said while around the agents. However, it makes no sense that Spooky and crew are not detained yet their equipment, which is quite obviously not a threat, still is. Usually misunderstandings just add up to a few hours of hassle while they explain that's all it was.

lets just hope everything ends up with the equipment confiscated, these idiots dont like looking like ridiculous incompetents and might freaking say they discovered some threats in those computers that might compromise the country security, its like the police department they make cases to people when they know they couldn't find nothing to charge someone with so they don't look stupid to everyone's eyes. hope everything gets solved and spooky gets all his equipment back =/

If you do a simple Google search about Homeland confiscating personal items, you'll get lots of similar situations... Probably because of this:

I also think it's just another agency enforcing the law. And it will only become worse if bill s. 978 gets passed :( , then it can be penalized by sending you to jail because streaming will become an illegal act (even when game companies allow their games to be streamed).

I don't see any other reasons why they would confiscate all that stuff...

This is one possibility.

Let me toss another out there, just to be a devil's advocate. Let's pretend that a terrorist threat video is intercepted, and it is discovered to have been recorded on a very rare piece of equipment. Wouldn't it make sense to see who in the area actually owns that type of equipment? And if few enough people do, confiscate that and other electronic distribution devices (cellphones, laptops, etc) to see if there is any digital record of the same recording?

Now I am NOT saying that my extremely unlikely situation could be true, just that MANY other legitimate reasons exist for confiscating equipment during an investigation other than "a DHS agent probably brought it home... fuck the police!!!". There is probably a LOT more to the story than we are being told, and likely much more than Spooky is aware of (since I doubt anything illegal is actually happening).

As for random google searches of people complaining about their stuff being illegally grabbed and not returned, even though they are innocent... I'm sure this is as legitimate as ex-prisoners swearing that the police arrested the wrong guy. Nobody is ever guilty, and everybody wants to complain. Thank god for the internet.

Spooky just explained what happened. They were suspicious about his bag of cables and wires and everything, they interrogated him and he explained what everything is. It doesn't seem like spooky and crew did anything wrong, or accidentally wrong, our security system just kinda sucks.

It would be a long shot. I personally think it was because of copyright reasons. The bill isn't passed yet, but HDS can seize property when there is suspicion of copyright infringement. It's wrong to think HDS only stands for national security, like written in the wiki the concept of "Homeland Security" extends and recombines responsibilities of government agencies and entities.
It's just a pitty that we have to give up lot's of freedom just because some (and these are few!) disturbed people try to harm others. While most of the time these people slip through governments' "high tech" net.

And you are completely right on the google search thing, but isn't it the way people search and knowing what to thrust (just like the newspaper, TV or other media). I get a lot of thrustworthy information/news, but everyone needs to learn how to filter the crap out. If I believed everything they wrote: the world would have ended multiple times, I would've won the lotery and MK9 would be unplayable thanks to the latest patch. But thank god it isn't true (although winning the lotery would be great). :)

I like Obama. And I know this wasn't his call. This was Bush's call. He's the one that started the shit in the first place if I recall correctly. I don't want this to happen to me. i'm going to go to jail all because I'm showing off videos of my Jax and me playing other fun games. What I can't enjoy playing videos for the world America? I can't enjoy teaching and spreading info about Jax? I can't enjoy spreading info about games you might not have heard of? If so, then that is some bullshit. I plan to move to Japan or South Africa after I finish College.
