You could either be doing the Klone late which doesn't give you enough frame advantage to break armor or putting the Klone too far back and the Klone doesn't break armor. It's hard to say if we don't see a replay.

I've been experimenting with doing JBP instead of JIP to get some more space after F12. This way less time is wasted backing up and you get more frame advantage.
If i hit the f12 lower will it effect the advantage on knock down

The higher the opponent is when connecting F12, the more frame advantage you have to set up ice clone and recover from it. If you do f12 closer to the ground, the less frame advantage you have to work with. So, if you want to shred armor, you want to hit your opponent higher to the ground.

Can we discuss some of the normal/ string cancels that set up a similar clone distance (such that b2 won't cause clone freeze on hit)? Or is that better saved for another thread?

@Tom Brady interesting man! i mean this stuff proofs how much of a fearsome char sub zero is. So basically once your knocked down in the corner against sub zero all u have to do is just to be patient?
Man i hope you make it to nec somehow

I don't think it matters. What normal/string cancels are you referring to?

Without getting too into it, it matters because you have more damaging options while retaining all the defensive options a closer clone gives you. And I'm referring to any normals/ strings that, when canceled into clone, place clone in a similar position as in the video(s). I'd need some lab time to find them.

Oh now I get what you're saying. Well I'd guess f4 or f42 would be the best for getting the right spacing for the clone after a knockdown.

F4 xx clone is safe/ ex clone frame trapable too, all the more reason to use it. I know for sure 123 and f33 aren't viable.

I guess I was more curious as to if this thread was the best place to list those (maybe in GM discussion?) or if it justifies a separate thread.

Sub's forward throw puts you within the range for b2, 24~ice shatter,1,11~ice clone, NJP, JIP, 123 slide (48%) and b33~ice shatter, 1, f3~ ice clone, NJP, JIP, F12 (42%) to land consistently. You can even do it closer, as shown in Tom's video.

So if f4 or f42 get the perfect spacing for the clone after a knockdown in the corner, are you suggesting that Sub Zero players should end their combos with slide instead of f12 when they don't have a bar to wakeup attack so we can get extra damage along with a safe clone setup?

That sounds like a good idea, or other strings that have similar spacing. It seems as efficient as whiffing clone to build meter mid combo. So if players do that already, why not min/max this way as well?

can @Tom Brady or someone upload the combo and spacing in the training stage? i think the blue lines would really help out my spacing and learning this important setup.
That shouldn't really be necessary. After using the clone, the spacing between Sub Zero and the opponent should be the max range of b2. Just go into training mode, put the CPU in the corner, then find the max range of b2, then practice setting the clone up every time so that Sub Zero will land right at the edge of that range. It should be pretty easy to do every time once you know where that spot is.

Now if there was a way to blow up ex spin from Lao.
Easy way is to condition the opponent into thinking you're gonna clone after a string. Then when They have a bar do the string and block.

Or get frame advantage put up clone and break armor with D4 or F4 etc.
