They are literally doing a REFERRAL deal to get ppl to refer friends to buy the game. That says it all as far as how Khaos Reigns is selling. Hopefully another “golden era” returns with the next MK

No Jade is a bummer, but I'm glad this means no Sonya. They insisted on making her the most annoying character to fight against in MK9, MKX and MK11. I'll face a thousand Haviks and Homelanders before I have to face yet another version of top tier Sonya.

Sonya in MKX was peak tho, best version of the character by far, even with fast OH/Low mixups

Sonya was the most fun character in 9, X, and 11. I would've relished in mixing everyone with the bad ass that blows kisses.

That is an extremely weak KP, though. Maybe WB said, "Ay yall, no one is buying the robots or the ninja. Why would they buy the kids and the regular folks?"

Sonya in MK9 was pure cancer. 50% combos off of a 7 frame s1. Instant safe divekicks that combo. Military stance into grab or (you guessed it) safe overhead/low starter. Invincible (yup, safe) fast armored multi-hitting overhead combo starter for 1 bar.

MKX was still cancer, but at least not late stage 4 - she had 97668 strings, insane damage and loops with grenades.

MK11 had her with ring toss cancels (that can krushing blow) mixes, decent damage and great range and overall safety on basically everything.

There is no doubt in my mind they'd make her insufferable to play against in MK1.

It’s a GG. Nobody asked for Kameo Kombat. Sure it opens the game up a little more but we didn’t ask for this extra assist shit. Should’ve just gave us characters with expanded movesets.

I've seen a lot of things in my life when it comes to Mortal Kombat, but watching it become a multi-level marketing pyramid scheme was an unexpected turn of events.

MK has not been itself since the end of MKX, and these recent events have solidified that in stone.

I don't understand how Melee and Super Turbo are still mainstays every year at EVO, but the idea of dropping this game/more forced MK content being milked from a cow that is clearly dry in favor of rereleasing some combination of old MK and injustice always gets so much blowback.

Would single-handedly reinvigorate the entire NRS base and draw in players from all the other major games struggling to keep their playerbases invested, but let's keep holding out hope for another overpriced DLC bundle since there's nothing to competitively aspire to.

I'm not even sure the game's better with all the crazy stuff they've been adding and the DLC characters/kameos being noticeably wilder than the base roster. I think I liked the balance better pre-Ghostface patch and maybe even pre-Khaos Reigns patch. That's probably an unpopular opinion though.

This is so hilariously bad that it's just fucking pathetic. The incentive is complete shit and their desperation to try and get as many sales as possible is just as shit.

"Try and get three people to spend at least $100 each and you'll get these four skins that you'll probably never use and enough Dragon Krystals to get one or two premium skins." The "$100" is just me spitballing what it might cost to get the full game + expansion. Either way, WB/NRS wanting $300~ and them giving you these fucking skins and currency is just...L. O. L.

I think the lack of swift shut down is more confirmation than waiting who knows how many months until they finally deem us worthy enough to tell us. It's over.

With that said, I'm highly disappointed with how MK1 played out overall. MK11 got the Covid excuse but MK1 there's no excuse why "supporting the game for years to come" has turned in to "actually just a year and change you'll be aight". I guess other than WB that is. Everything they do just isn't the standard of modern FGs. Again , just highly disappointed. We legitimately never even got rooms/lobbies. Unacceptable. Pretty much have shattered and lost all my trust in any future games going forward until proven otherwise.

Heres the thing though, announcing you are ending support for your game before all the dlc is released is bad from a business perspective, it doesnt really have to do with the typical communication and announcments.

If it wasnt true the first thing that they would do is shut that shit down and say its disinformation, and that there are plans for future content. The fact that they are saying nothing pretty much confirms its true, as again, its bad for future sales of dlc or potential expansion phurchases as well as standalone dlc chars, or people waiting to buy the game/content in bulk at sale points, if people know the game is getting axed after terminator is released.

There is 3 possible scenarios.

1. Info is true the game is done.

2. Info is not true the game is not done(very unlikely considering the leaker is off the charts credible and nrs/wb are not deconfirming it)

3. Info is true but over the course of the term qnd conan releases they sell enough dlc and/or additional game sales due to said dlc charactets that would allow them to resume kp3 development.

If y’all want to take this as “confirmation”, you do you. I’ll wait for some actual official confirmation. It is most likely the case but I guess we’ll see. I really only ever touch the SP content if there's a skin for Reiko I can get from it. Other than that, it's mad boring and corny. They need to bring back Konquest mode and stop all this stupid shit that they're doing with Towers. Give us Klassic Towers or something with no modifiers in the next MK game just for the sake of nostalgia or whatever, but we NEED Konquest to come back.

It makes me weirdly happy about this news, I don't want to be stuck with 4 years of a game I don't like, I don't want a repeat of MK11( Though MK1 has made me grow to appreciate this game lol).

I also used to be the type to make fun of people for caring about the story, like I had no issues with MKX or 11, it was kinda dumb, but entertaining enough. MK1 is just so fucking bad I actually want them to ignore it...

I have been trying to avoid being negative about the game for the last year, but hearing this news is making me giddy.

Maybe they will just finally go back to what people like.

the final kombat pack was meant to be 6 characters, 5 mk and 1 guest. Less guests due to alot of reasons but mostly as a thank you to mk fans for sticking with the game.

They always want to thank MK fans for sticking with the game at the last minute, and then in the very next game, they change their mind. I swear, I remember a leak mentioning this exact same thing after MK11's support was ended. lmao
1 guest character in a 6-fighter DLC pack would never happen under WB.

Doesn't surprise me much. I thought MK1 was a fun fighting game, but it's a shit video game to be honest.

Don't forget that WB sees this as a game that should sell a shit ton, meaning it's supposed to grab casuals mostly. When I put my casual hat on, it's just not that enjoyable a game. All this RPG bullshit that doesn't really affect gameplay much at all. Very, very little opportunity to play dress up, which is what many casuals like in modern fighting games. I just don't really know what there is for casual players to do except for grind through Invasions to get some random items that never matter.

Also, I don't know how to describe this, but I feel like MK1 just looks unappealing somehow. It looks like they tried to appeal to a younger crowd, make it brighter and friendlier and less grimdark or whatever, but it made the game just kinda feel cheap to me.

I would love if they went back to MK feeling yucky and really go all in on all the stupid cosmetic and gear tweaking stuff I shouldn't care about. That's what I liked most about I2 and MK11. Just dumb fun I could spend hours with. I wouldn't be surprised if the next MK game is an action adventure RPG-lite or something though.

MK1 has the most polished & refined gameplay elements of an MK
But they chose to polish & refine a gameplay approach that is largely unfun and awkward.
