Oh yeah, for sure standing 2 does the job but I reckon jump 2 canceled into Air Axe does a bit more damage.

Though, the Air Axe is generally just a good keepaway move to have imo. Helps me out a lot with the Geras matchup for example.
What's the hit advantage on j2 into air axe out of curiosity? Air axe shows as only +4 on hit, which would mean your opponent can easily beat you out if you're going for a 19 frame f2/13 frame b3.

It does indeed help a lot when facing a Geras.

For example, b14 into Deep Freeze, jumpin 2, standing 2 does 181 damage and is indeed +22.

B14 into Deep Freeze, jumpin 2, Air Axe (done as late as possible) is +16 but the damage is 215. So its less plus but more damage.

Any adivce hitting the j2 after rising ice, dont know why im so inconsistent
It's pretty tight midscreen, easy as shit in the corner. I haven't really figured out a way to make it any easier midscreen, but it feels to me like different buttons/strings into rising ice affects how tight the window is. For example, I'm able to get the j2 more consistently doing 21~rising ice than I can when I do S3~rising ice.

I dunno if it's the pushback or if I'm just imagining things.

I am starting to question rising ice. It's really wonky to hit confirm from long range pokes. It whiffs so much! There is a trick to it or what?

Max range f2, b32. I do rising ice and it whiffs.
Those aren't pokes. Pokes are d1s, d3s, and d4s.

And unfortunately there's no way you're actually CONFIRMING anything off of f2. You'd have to be The Flash to make sure that your f2 wasn't blocked before inputting your follow-up special. f2 into anything is just a straight up commitment.

I don't doubt the whiffing issues. I've never played a game that had so many tbh.

The second hit of Scorp's b14 sometimes whiffs at max range. And that's just a STRING, not even string~special. .Johnny's b34~camera flash at max range will cause the flash to whiff. Sindel's hair cut will whiff after a max range f21, etc. These are just ones that I recall experiencing firsthand. I'm sure there are plenty more specials that whiff when cancelled into from a max range string.

Good ole MK11.

Circling back to the main subject, in those specific situations deep freeze never whiffs. I've seen the crazy corner combos you can pull with rising ice, but still most of the time you are outside corner and you aim to play on tip ranges to get those nice whiff punishes. Since the other specials he can pick are nothing special shouldn't deep freeze be the best pick?

Absolutely. Deep freeze paired with creeping ice is what most high-level Subs are running with.

Seeing sub zeros eyes in ice makes me smile :D
the one thing I dislike about mk11 sub zero, is the way he feels like a random normal human, boring ...

just watch google sub zero artworks, almost everyone has him with ice eyes but the official game takes the normal human eyes ...

(dont even mention the DJ sub zero skin, lol ...)

Do you guys think the B321 string finisher on block is really doable on reaction? The cancel window into ice ball is kinda short, and buffering the input can sometimes get you to ice ball on block instead of the finisher. Are you guys able to do this regularly?

Do you mean confirming b32 into Ice Ball on hit and completing b321 on block? The b32~iceball confirm is a little tight, but not too bad. If you go into training mode and set the opponent to random block, you can practice confirming it. However, getting ice-ball on hit and b321 on block will certainly make everything more difficult to confirm, so I'd just work on getting those b32~iceball confirms down first, and then maybe trying to add in the b321 confirms later.

Yeah that is exactly what I was asking. It's definitely difficult but I was able to find a video of K7 Showoff doing it at GOVX here.
He does B321 on block all but one time and hit confirms to iceball every time. Thanks for the reply
