What is that weird-looking delayed low Hit has that keeps opening everybody up in the corner? I swear it lands 70% of the time, every time, haha.
It’s his 2M. It looks like an OH and it’s slow so people aren’t used to it yet. Once people learn it won’t work as much

It's all so very confusing.
As to the thread topic.. Very hype matches. The first meeting between Chris and Sonic was nuts, and Chris looked so strong.. but Loser's Bracket Sonic is a fucking raid boss.

I do think Sonic is probably the greatest fighting game player ever in general terms. He doesn't just win, he tends to heavily DOMINATE. He can lack consistency sometimes and get himself unexpectedly bumped into losers, but when that happens he almost always tightens up and bulldozes. Honestly, if I were to play Sonic in tournament I'd much rather he be in winners - even for the GFs, it seems like you'd have a better chance to bracket reset him and take the next set than you would winning even a game if he comes into the match in losers lol.

I want to see him play Go1 and Dogura and the other anime monsters, because Sonic is legit our best - and probably only - hope of taking major tournaments off the Asian heavies.

Honestly though, I dont want to see him totally dominate the DBFz scene simply because I find it boring.

Hit is one of the few that has a lot of weaknesses, but his strongest game is Timeskip powers. What you mean by his delayed low is his 2L. All of his low attacks are slow, but powerful. And they're kind of risky against someone with way good reactions.
Its his 2M, not 2L.

He has almost no real weaknesses either. Weakish air game and a slow low, but that's it... You mention all his lows being slow, and you're right, but he only has one low, his 2M.

Hit is top 5 IMO and arguably top 3. He can bang from anywhere on screen and can play any game you want, pressure, mix (his mix is insannneee), he can zone (yep, he can, and it's good), he can get in vs zoners, he can whiff punish in ways and for damage that no one else can. He has some of the best supers in the game, with his lv3 I BELIEVE being the hardest hitting in the game outside command grab supers and his lv1 having a million and one uses outside simple combo ending. His assist isnt S tier but it's extremely solid. Hit has the best defensive tools in the game. Etc.

So my thoughts on this are:

I saw a lot of people calling for him to play Go1. I felt from watching him that although he is the best we currently have in the states, his gameplay hasn't hit maturity yet. Which is natural, because this game is so new. The first set he played against Chris exposed some of this -- but I also felt like there were a couple of other guys who might have beaten him if they'd been able to calm down and close out the games.

More importantly though: with the speed at which Sonic learns, he'll be rounding out that toolset pretty soon and learning counters to a bunch of the things that worked against him at WB. And that's when he's at his most dangerous. That's when I think it'd be awesome to see him go up against somebody like Go1 in a much-hyped FT10 or whatever to see what happens.

Maybe Final Round would be good timing? Definitely by Combo Breaker.

If it’s just one set, it kinda depends. If it’s in tournament I give the edge to GO1. If it’s a ft10 I give the edge to SonicFox. However, SonicFox is very good at studying the tapes and correcting his mistakes, showed blatantly in this tournament.

The problem with SonicFox is that he’s always oppressing people with his offense. He very rarely has to worry about defense. When he faces someone like ChrisG that has impeccable defense, SF loses his momentum and overwhelming nature. Which lets Chris out of the pressure and allows him to start his offense. And since SF isn’t used to defending, it’s nowhere near as strong as his offense. Experience is the best teacher. Honestly if I were him, I would get deskillsage or some other good players to just put him in pressure and SF just try to block and get out of it over and over. That’s what I would do at least.

So I was kind of thinking this in the first set against Chris -- but then in the second set, Sonic's defense was actually really good. In terms of blocking, as he blocked some pretty ridiculous mixups not only from Chris, but also from XCalibur and some others. He was also far more consistent at dealing with vanish and punishing raw tags than numerous other players in this tournament. But also in terms of playing defensively by just spacing himself out when he had the lead and baiting Chris into punishable things. He really slowed the match down in GF's and it paid off.

It think it just depends more on his mood and whatever character he's playing. Sometimes it's "I'm gonna RTSD and mix this fool quick" and sometimes it's a way more patient, footsie and blocking/whiff punish-based approach.

Ehh what is really spoiled? That vegeta gets beat up? That's every other Tuesday
I mean it's probably not going to ruin the arc or anything but very specifically that Vegeta loses a fight against Black in what appears to be the future, a fight they've been building up to. Only takes two seconds to spoiler tag something.

At any rate it was a very hype set, "Omae wo mo shinderu"

I just think he studied the tapes and learned from his mistakes, and adapted. Came up with a gameplan and executed. Whatever he did, it worked to perfection.

Sonic Confirming that the Vod Teamspooky posted on uTube was what gave him the edge as he studied it and worked out a weakness in G's team design.

Was thinking about this, and theoretically you could do it with the Twitch archives (if you have a laptop), since you can access them before the stream is done.

Wonder if more people will start doing this over time.

Mr. Righteous
Apparently, Uncle JBeezY FINALLY found the whole Top 8 on YouTube! And OH MY SWEET GURKENS this Top 8 taught us that ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN in this game! One of the best tournys so far this year. And again Congrats to SonicFox for taking that hard earned 1st place. You can also tell that every win he gets, he gets more n more cockier ;)
