I think NRS may not truly understand what an actual GRAPPLER character is and should be. Take Zangief, Tizoc(The Griffon, King of Dinosaurs), Birdie (SF Alpha Series), etc. all share something in common: UNBLOCKABLE COMMAND THROWS. There is no crouch-only or standing-only command throw in those games. When a player is close enough to execute the command, the throw is initiated and the attack is carried out. All of her command throws need to be UNBLOCKABLE....PERIOD. Also, her command throws need to have RANGE. Most of her attacks are T-Rex levels of stubby. She is definitely not a command grab character in the traditional sense. She will struggle in the long run once her gimmicks are exposed.

They know how to make one. They made Bane. They just don’t want to. Probably them being against projectile collisions too. They just don’t want to.
 
Her animations slam people, that's what they mean with grappler.

I don't miss not having a command throw (she gets a low/overhead mix from v3 cancels anyway, and she has all these mids and auto-shimmies to enforce the regular MK11 strike/throw mix), but... it does feel weird when Robo/Liu/Erron do then get such.

Man im not looking forward to any MUs vs characters with long buttons. That shit is hell when you just literally cant reach them haha
 
I see high lvl people sayin on twitch that the V1 stomp direction input is the only viable stomp she has.
Pretty much. I considered it too yolo of a move to matter, but maybe with v1 you start tele-stomp on a read, and then if they didn't shoot/jump/whatever as expected (in the brief window you have to input the direction), at least you still have the 1-in-3 chance to hit them (as opposed to certainly landing into a full combo punish).

its more the mix of long buttons and fast movement thats the killer cause her f14 is great but if you space it out its awful on whiff.

Yeah. I'm really struggling against characters like Jade in particular. Anyone have any tips for dealing with her? Always seem to get out-poked by her and can't seem to get in.

In order to win with Sheeva you need to get a couple of good reads. Once you are in, its pretty much over for your opponent, especially in v3. Mix-up city.

I mean why even go that far back, Ascension Kotal is a straight grappler with his gameplan revolving around his grab, and is in this game. He's also in a great place balance-wise.

Anyway I think her V3 is fine as is, but I do think the other two could do with their bf4 being an actual grab.

getting a decent amount of utility with telestomp for oki, if someone is very heavy on full delay i just do oki telestomps, this will also blow up wakeups a lot. I also occasionally slip them in as a surprise ender- 21 rc 21 bf4 21 telestomp for example. unless they delay wakeup theyre getting stompted.
I also do this, I'm sure people will start rolling on reaction but for now people are just eating it.

Yeah. I'm really struggling against characters like Jade in particular. Anyone have any tips for dealing with her? Always seem to get out-poked by her and can't seem to get in.

V3 you really just have to work your way in f1/f1,4/b4 distance. With v1 you have to rely on reads to punish her with stomp and ground pound(if they're throwing out a lot of low projectiles you can just hop them with the db3).

V2 is actually really good for dealing with character that hover around mid or just outside of it. fought some Jades, skarlets, and Fujins with it and honestly BF3 has some nutty range for a a special that can be amp'd on hit into a full launch. It's not safe so it still requires you to use it as whiff punisher or a read but it's definitely fast enough to stuff shit once you get a good idea of your opponents patterns.


Once you get in though, one combo into one of her bleeds will really shift the momentum in your favor as those ranged characters will have to sit still for fear of losing a big chunk of health running away again.

Worth mentioning that Jade's glow completely negates ground pound. That's where you can bring the ground pound/telestomp mixup into play, but glow just makes one of the two a non-issue.

In other news, the Frost matchup seems like it's going to be a huge problem. Buttons like B2/D4 make getting in a nightmare, and anything canceled into V3 ice auger on block leaves her in perfect range to just walk back and whiff punish a F1 attempt.

V3 is so much fun! I only have two complaints. The character is fine without these changes but I would have really loved if the walking kick special was plus 5 instead of plus 4. Also, most characters literally have to just walk back to avoid both the delayed and the normal speed teleport stomp. Literally makes the move unusable. Either way she is so much fun.

Also anyone noticed her s2 has an unusual recovery where she moves back quite significantly after. Could be useful for stagger mindgames

I wish they changed the command for her run. Instead of holding 3. It should be bf3, if you press 3 then it does the kick. If you press d3 it does the over head and if you press u3 it does the launch. As it is now it feels a bit un-natural, at least to me. But what do I know, i'm mainly a Street Fighter player.

I can see where you're coming from but from a haptic level I actually prefer how it is now.

I feel like I can be more precise with my timing/spacing of the kick with it being a release into of a second input.

The move is entirely usable, you just can't throw it out yolo. It's to catch people who are abusing zoning. Depending on who you are fighting it can go from a read to a straight up reactionary punishment tool.

Any European Ps4 sheevas in here? American is fine too as long as you're playing wired and the ping is decent. I'd like to get some mirror sets in with ppl in the next few days.

I feel i need to use b122 to more, it's much better than i originally thought it was

Poke back, your d1 and d3 are +14 and +15 on hit respectively. You can afford to throw out a b122 at that point and hitconfirm it.

I'd use 21 only as a punish, check with 211, or go for a cheeky 21~tremor in v1. In v3 you can even mix with 2~low grab.
 
In v1, 21 is your only common option to get access to your grab combo extender (unless you like just jumpkicking into it the whole match, or yolo with the unsafe f3/s4). It's just unsafe on block, so you need to be able to continue into 211 on block... I wouldn't bother with it in the other variations, but v1 needs it.

Personally, I don't have quick enough reflexes to pick between the two follow-ups based on hit reaction, so what I did was change to long input window (ugh), input it as 21 slight pause 1, do the quartercircle motion if it hit (and it will still register as the grab input). Only one thing to keep track of (if hit = quartercircle).

EDIT: oh no, it's more reliable to do if you activate release check / negative edge... This is the worst idea, but I'm putting it on now. This is what v1 has driven me to.

Wow. Sheevas v2 is great. Ive been playing it on PC and something I really like is that it punishes mashers. Once you land that db2 shield, people tend to want to mash because they are so far away. In the corner people keep trying to mash when you're plus 14.

But... Is there really a point of doing a full combo in this variation? Enlighten me if Im wrong, but it seems like the restand is better because if they try to breakaway youre going to have to use bf4 special anyways to hope you break armor and you might as well have left them restanded? Maybe Im missing something. The db2 crushing blow is useless too because the launcher does more damage over all and the db2 shield is better restanded.
