Shang Tsung Gameplay Trailer & Kombat Pack Revealed!

It's finally here! The DLC trailer showing off Shang Tsung and letting us know who is still to come. Check it out!

Shang Tsung will be available June 18th to Kombat Pack owners along with the Klassic Arcade Ninja skin pack which includes MK2-inspired skins for Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot!

Kombat Pack line-up:

• Shang Tsung
• Nightwolf
• Sindel
• Spawn
• ...and two more guests to be revealed soon

The Kombat Pack also includes more gear and skins for every character, with a total of 19 additional skins!

Just having a bit of fun Ulimately MK11 has such a wonderfully diverse roster with plenty of variety in terms of visual design and player fantasy that I think even people who had their "favorite" character left out should still be able to find somebody who makes them happy.

...however if your favorite character is only notable for past visual similarity to others who have long ago eclipsed him in terms of relevance and character development, and the ability to make his opponents slightly damp... I might raise my eyebrow slightly at your priorities

I will never understand the massive outcry for Rain. He’s just... not a cool character.

 

Would Kano be a good DLC choice?

Sure, why not? He's 'famous' enough to be requested for DLC, but not a poster boy like Scorpion and Sub-Zero to be expected on every single installment. The only reason Kano is on every MK game since Armageddon because he's a dev fave (Tyler). If Havik was 16-Bit's favorite character, he would be on every MK game too.

My opinion?
In today's NRS games, DLC should only be characters with extremely minor / inexistent roles in the story, with a mix of fan demand on the side.

Sheeva should be DLC for MK11.
Sektor and Cyrax should not be DLC, they should be base roster in MK11. They had one (two) whole chapter(s) dedicated to them, and you fight them almost as much as Erron Black (who could easily be DLC in MK11 too).

 

Be interested to see how nightwolf is handled.. With the current climate of censorship and repressing free speech in America having a Indian clichie could cause problems.

Here we go with the guest characters again. Can we get a pure MK game for once, NRS?

 

The roster in this game is so shitty, that it graciously prepared me for Shang's release by going through a main crisis.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like Shang's up-fireballs work like Shinnoks. It looks like one move, with the option to meter-burn the last fireball for a pop-up (or you only get the third from the meter-burn). Unless a different version is tied to a variation, I'm going to miss the MK9 up-fireballs.

Because it makes sense. Many of the devs time and again have stated how much they like Kano. Is that not a reason to make him almost always part of the main roster?

Come on man. If you were saying Ed's or Paulo's favorite will always get a roster spot, then sure, you coul maybe have point there. But saying Tyler or 16Bit have any input on roster spots is nonsense. We all know how big of a Millena fan Derek is, yet she is nowhere in the game, and he is actually a designer, not a QA guy or community manager.

I'm starting to think Shang Tsung might steal Krushing Blows from the opponent. It's confirmed that he can do characters krushing blows by soulsteal.
But it would be powerful and awesome if when he does that KB while changed into the opponent it uses it up for the opponent.

Well, you said in your previous comment, that Shang Tsung is better than any character of mkx' kombat pack (although I said in my comment that shang tsung is the exception which means i agree with this, as a result I wouldn't consider that you properly "read" what i wrote) and now you are acting like as if you didnt say that. You're saying that MKX's choices of MK characters (BO RAI CHO, TREMOR, TANYA, TRIBORG) were better than MK11's (NIGHTWOLF, SINDEL, SHANG freakin TSUNG, FUJIN, SHEEVA)? Triborg was the only MK character who truly wowed the fans. The others were meh at best (sorry Tanya fans, but she pales in front of Sindel and Shang Tsung - and Nightwolf)

Spawn is very cool and a long time coming I'd easily give up my Cyrax.

It does seem like they should of included at least one of the characters you mentioned, It also doesn't help that Sheeva looks awful in the story mode.

My point was that Kano was a dev favorite which is why he's been in the base roster ever since mk9. But I was wrong, since Mileena is also a dev fave. Mea culpa.

Does that mean two more guest characters similar to Spawn? Or does it just mean there are two more "guests" coming to the Kombat Pack which could be anyone?

Shang looks cool and I'm glad Sindel and Nightwolf are back, but I have to admit that the lack of Fujin is kinda disappointing since the rest of the leak has turned out to be real. :/

It's not like this is the only Kombat Pack we are getting. I'd bet on 3 KP's, honestly. Fujin is 100% in. He'll be in KP2. Same with Sheeva. The two additional guests are Ash and Terminator. Joker will be a guest in KP2.
