Yeah this string isn't that good that it needs to have a flawless block gap and one that gets you a full combo punish. Would be fine if there was a flawless block gap but it only made it -7 and impossible to cancel. Also there is 0 reason why you can breakaway from it and full combo punish the launcher. B31 isn't a "true" launcher... On second thought it would be really cool if it were. Right now Raiden doesn't have much damage without a bar. B3 alone is really fun as a stagger form time to time tho :))

I tend to forget about moves a lot too. After a match i always think "why didn't i do more of this or that". I guess that's the difference between casuals and those that are much better players. Knowing all your options definitely helps to keep your opponent thinking.

I rarely get that string FB'd, so probably tend to throw it out more. But again, that comes down to different levels of players. Will keep that in mind.

I will say this though. B3's range is very very good for a 16f normal. It's slightly longer than Raiden's D4 so you can use to whiff punish pokes well. Hop 3 also has about the same range as B3 so you can do walk back into hop 3 (just be careful of hop 3 being punishable)

Some player matches using Lord Raiden. Variation is Float/Rod/Superman Punch. I'm getting better at spacing and reacting with bubble and I'm getting more out of Superman Punch then I thought I would. Fun character, feel free to give tips
Haven't heard that Super Mario RPG music in a while! What a great game.

Some player matches using Lord Raiden. Variation is Float/Rod/Superman Punch. I'm getting better at spacing and reacting with bubble and I'm getting more out of Superman Punch then I thought I would. Fun character, feel free to give tips
Just one small thing I've noticed. You sometimes aren't ready to punish things like the Jacqui clinch (-11 or something I believe) and end up only doing like a poke or taking your turn back with F3. It's hard to keep track of in the heat of a match but it's something to look out for since your variation doesn't do much damage so every touch counts. Nice flawless blocks though. :)

Yeah float inputs are very weird. I can get them semi consistently now off F4 and F3 and when I do get it I get this rush of joy and accomplishment :p

Pluralmite VS Hijinx

DeadyxRebel VS Hijinx

Both Raijin VS the current "Goograded" jacqui. Long story short Raijin's actually one of the characters in this game that counters Jacqui extremely well. Summon lightning forces her to play neutral and Jacqui cannot punish burst even if she flawless blocks. We take a lot less chip with quick charge activated and as long as we play patient and reactionary this is a winning matchup.

Side note: F11, 243, F4, F2 cancelled into Electric Burst have NO flawless block gaps whatsoever, so Raijin still indeed has a place in the competitive meta of Raiden, especially so against Jacqui

This was meant to be RoboCop footage, but I ended up playing a long set with a very impressive Raiden. I honestly thought RoboCop was a bad mu for this Raiden variation, but once he gets in he's really able to delete health bars. Here you go!

I haven't watched the entire thing yet but one thing I noticed initially was the you're respecting B12~QC on block when it's -20 (and that was when QC hadn't been nerfed yet). Try to react to the animation and punish or take your turn back. I know you're going to be waiting for a lot of other things after B12 but this has been the number 1 gimmick that I see Raiden players abuse and people just don't know that it's punishable (it's even minus on hit).

As for the MU I've never played a Robocop using float variation before, but from what I can see you did do a good job keeping him out. He was a bit impatient and always tried to do a superman or do F4 when in range. He also never really did QC at full screen (though I imagine it's because he didn't want to eat a projectile as a trade or something) and didn't really use float at all up close (his flawless blocks on your projectiles were on point though). Just note that whatever overhead/low mix Raiden has can be fuzzy guarded (overhead--> low) but yeah either way once Raiden gets you into the corner it's party time for him

Finally playing some good old fashioned TW. Frankly not happy with how I played in this video but I honestly did better than most of the times I VS'd this guy with Raijin/Floaty boi. Any comments are welcome. Will definitely try to work on my TW so I can be more well-rounded as a Raiden player :(

That moment when Mileena breaks away after B31 into storm cell and punishes him for 50% was painful to watch. Wish NRS fixed that
At this point the issue has been here since launch. it’s unfortunate that they didn’t change it but at the highest level of competition he should have known better than to commit to storm cell when his opponent had breaker available

Nice matches. Coincidentaly I always name my variations Pikachu as well xd. But that F11 into BF1 AMP was insteresting... is it real? Only string I think where you can put BF1 is B31 and maybe F1 (sorta like Fujing always crossbows after his B2), and even then longer pokes interrupt it

I made a thread about using BF1 after strings. Basically you can use it after you condition them to respect the stagger and you’re guaranteed to be around 0 to +1 depending on distance
