Question - Kenshi [Pre-XL] What kind of changes would you like to see to Kenshi in KP2?

Lmao!!! I don't know why this response made me laugh the say it did. I can picture a lowering of the head as the sentence progresses lol.

In all seriousness though, I think the Kenshi community has some very competitive and dedicated players, which in turn is why they are adamant about the current state of the character. I personally don't play him, but do understand their frustration. I'm no expert, but the credible Kenshi main's seem very reasonable with their suggestions. At this point even most people who don't use Kenshi agree he needs a boost. Check out the lopsided poll that @Pan1cMode has in his thread about Kenshi. It's gotten that far now where people who hated him want to see him upgraded.

All in all, glad to see you guys still monitor and take notes of the communities perspective alongside your own. Hope to see a beastly Sektor.

I've thought about it a few times but he seems to be a little too lacking at the moment. Kind of like Mystic Ermac who I reallyyy wanted to play but just didn't hold up competitively (didn't click with MoS Ermac). Been riding D'Vorah and Johnny pretty well but if patches buff up Mystic and/or Kenshi I'll probably check them out at least for fun casuals.

I think a little lacking is an under exaggeration, long as he has a cool costume, he's good, right?

Kenshi already got hella buffs a couple patches back. Highly unlikely he'll get anything, but Tylerlansdown is here so who knows.
Yes he got 12 buffs and he's widely considered bottom 3

What does that tell you?

For me it means when I was making my case back in April two days after release people were telling me "pig you're overreacting, give it time. Don't be dumb he's fine" yea that was pre buffs

I, like most competitive players here would like some sort of dialog with you (NRS), with people who actually are responsible for character design, frames, nerfs, buffs. Sadly we get almost none.

Why is that? It's not like you can't / don't have time. There is like no downside to dialog between us (community - NRS), yet it's not happening, why?

While i or we as community appreciate you talking time to read all of this it sadly doesn't give us any clue - if, how, when you gonna address it. What is the reasoning behind current design (Kenshi in this particular situation)?

Awesome to hear. I was thinking it was just going to be a bug/glitch fix patch, but another balance patch is awesome. You guys have really stepped it up since the Mk9 days. Hope you guys continue to support the game in the future.

No disrespect but there is no dialog between us and NRS. Dialog occurs only when both parties talk to each other. Reading and not saying / writing anything about what you read isn't a dialog. Am i missing something here?

Because things change every day, through testing etc... Do I know some of the changes right now? Yes. Is it possible for those to change an hour from now? Yes. I'm not going to give out any information until I know things are certain.

I know this is a kenshi forum but I would be infinitely grateful if Kung Jin received some love (e.g., no timer for stun arrow in ancestral, recovery and frame data improvements for chakrams in shaolin, and whatever other blessings you are willing to bestow upon him)

this would be godlike and would make me . . .

Balanced

(regular) Rising Karma needs faster start up frames (leave it unsafe as it is) but people need to fear Kenshi's AA, like in MK9 (don't jump on me dawg)
(EX) Telekinetic Slash needs to pop the opponent in the air (not for full combo ofc.... :DOGE) but just to allow me to follow up with Tele Flurry, i need to get something off of my wasted bar

(regular) Telekinetic Slash needs to be either faster and unsafe, or slower and safer.... you can't just leave as it is.....

(regular) Tele Flurry doesn't need to knock the opponent down, at fullscreen distance, make it like it was in MK9.... you either end the combo with Spirit Charge (fullscreen position) or you end with Tele Flurry for the damage (but no fullscreen distance)

(EX) Spirit Charge can it go further ?!.... i see no point in using this.... Kenshi already has a get off of me move.....


Strings

Give some help to the useless strings that he has.... make it safer, or special cancellable, or make it OH/Low, safer on block.... something.... anything.... wth....

Sorry for dragging this conversation but then again it's really a rare occasion when we got to speak with you (NRS) and get some actual responses.

Say a variation like Balanced, which seems to be imbalanced. It's pretty clear it's supposed to be played defensively and patiently by it's design, but it just fails at doing so due to it's very bad normals combined with bad specials. On top of MKX having a run button and characters with better offense than ever, Balanced Kenshi never stood a chance. Similar applies to the other two variations in different ways.

The only way he'd be able to explain the current situation improving is by giving details on how they plan on making him better (if they were planning on it) which I'm sure he can't do.

I like fighting against Guile - even when that Guile is really, really good. Kenshi's design is poor. If you like him, then you are a fan of poor design. If he were viable at the game's highest levels, he would be broken because his options are non-existant. He simply has what you do when or block.

I see what you're saying. I don't really know so I guess you're right in a sense. Something like Kenjutsu or Possessed can have different definitions, played in a variety of ways (potentially at least), but one like Balanced seems like a clear cut intention of defensive play. Like how Cutthroat seems like pure rushdown above all else. Why it came out the way it did is the big mystery that I don't think they can answer, or any related changes.

Since they're looking at all the characters I can only assume that if a buff of his was in play, it would almost have to make his defensive options better. If his defensive options don't improve, how on earth can the character play well? I mean you can literally run up from 3/4 away and pwn him for the rest of the round and that can't be what they intended lol.

Believe me i know... i f... know. ;)

I got over 1700 hours spent on Kenshi alone... i could probably list you all of his normals / strings / specials and complete frame data on every move he has from memory.

And yet playing vs good characters (and players obviously) i mostly think "WTF should i do? I can't do shit...".

As a long term Kenshi fan, I was turned off from this character the moment I saw his reveal video.

MK9 Kenshi wasn't so great to play because he was good. He was great to play because he was a complete character. The problem with MKX Kenshi, in my opinion, is that Balanced and Kenjutsu should have been combined. Playing Balanced Kenshi has no access to his sword, and his sword makes the character cool.

Simply put, MKX Kenshi needs a complete redesign in his normals and strings to incorporate the sword in all variations.

@Pig Of The Hut I think we talked about this on your stream. Any thoughts?
