I'm very ambivalent on micro-transactions like these. That we can get everything without having to pay for these is awesome! And I understand that this is an option for those who don't wish to spend the time grinding for koins and go through unlocking everything in the Krypt. Kinda like the purchasable "unlock all in the Krypt" option in MKX.

But I'll never feel right about having this as an option to begin with in a game you have paid full price for. It works for games like Warframe, a free-to-play game which gives you the option of buying stuff with purchasable in-game currency, like new warframes, weapons etc. But that's because the game itself is free! You don't have to pay a dime to play the game or get the stuff you want, as you can unlock all that just by playing the game.

I dunno, it just kinda rubs me the wrong way. I don't mean to poke anyone wrong with my opinion though, if you're completely alright with this, then that's fair. No shade from me. ^^
I'm curious why it rubs you the wrong way. It seems like its for lazy people that just want to have everything in the game without putting in the time.

I mean i don't understand the mindset of people that would pay to unlock things they could unlock just by playing; seems like it kinda defeats the purpose of playing a game. But that's why it doesn't bother me.

I'm all for unlockables.

I'm more skeptical with how we get them.

I'm curious too, as I'm not completely sure, tbh. I think it's because we've seen micro-transactions being taken WAY too far in other places, so I feel wary about them overall now. If we open up the door for it just a bit, then maybe someone will barge through and crash open the door entirely to the point where it's completely unacceptable!

That's the worst case scenario though, and I don't think it will come to that. However, as others have pointed out, there are other things that's also very annoying and could be considered unacceptable as well, such as them nerfing how many koins you get to make the grind for them really tedious, just so buying those krystals become more and more appealing. I truly hope that won't be the case, as I think it's a really shady business practise that I don't wish to support.

If the amount of koins we get to unlock it all in-game is fair though, then I have no real issue with it. It's more the potential of it turning sour that worries me.

Alright we're doing this.

First complaint about the time it took to unlock cosmetics.

An outcry against greedy DLC practices while trying to sting NRS at the same time. You've been on this train for a while now, and it's starting to sound like you need to find better financial security and increase your happiness with your wallet a bit. I don't mind DLC practices because I know how much these games actually cost to produce. The tl;dr here is literally, you don't want to have to pay for cosmetics ever. Which is fine, you don't.

Pointlessly trying to compare MK11 to a mobile game again with their DLC policies when DLC predated "Mobile games" by which you refer specifically to those on phones not Nintendo's market I'm sure. But then you brought it back around to the time it takes to unlock things without buying again, indicating to SFV which used it's ridiculously low payout of in-game currency as a motivator to get people to buy their

So to recap: tl;dr = You don't want to have to pay for any cosmetics (You don't you can acquire them all in-game), and you're mad that to not pay for them you have to spend probably many hours to get what you want (You do).

Your accusation of NRS trying to sell their DLC like cell phone games do their microtransactions is irrelevant because in Inj2 they weren't predatory.
Yeah. As in: it wasn't even set what you'd unlock. IJ2's unlocks were -roll the dice and hope you get it- RNG shit that didn't even have a set time. You could get played for months. You weren't grinding. You were hoping to randomly acquire a piece. If there was some set objective, I'd fully understand your point. But that doesn't seem to be the case with NRS grinding.

And see, here are these dumb ass little jabs again. "Oh, you must not have the bank." If I have the bank to afford the 60 dollar game at launch, or to pay for the stupid online subscription, I have the bank to afford the ten dollar pack of "KRYSTALS" to get an item. It's the fact that we're paying five-ten bucks for a fucking color palette or a jacket that's making me laugh here, but sure. "I kNoW hOw MuCh TheSe GamEs TakE tO pRoDuCe" And this is what I love when people get into this shit.

Please, tell me the cost of MKX. And then tell me how much it grossed. Do a fun little estimate of 60 x I don't know, 1000. Just go off that for now. Then just add another 0 until we match the sales and have your mind blown. Of course, this is ignorant to assume we understand where all this money goes to, but it's also ignorant to assume that you say "oh but deh need de microtranscation money on top of 60 dollar money on top of kollector money on top of dlc mon-" see, it just starts to sound a bit stupid. I'm fine with developers wanting money but everyone acting like poor little indie company NRS needs it, is the hilarious part. They don't. This shit is pure greed. And I'd be happier if they'd just come out and say it and the fans would stop shilling like it's not.

Can't even fully comprehend what your last point was with Nintendo and mobile but sure.

Me saying "this is hella similar to a mobile game" is comparing it to shit that isn't of their own. Which funny enough, they seemed less greedy on their mobile games somehow than their core games. Ironically. I'm comparing it to shit like Future Fight and Contest Of Champions. Mainly because both of these Marvel games are what I have experience with. Where Contest has everything technically "free to play!" but you know damn well to get the things you want, you better have fun grinding endlessly, sometimes for no payout, or having to pay for the item itself. Same thing goes for Future Fight.

I'm going to have issues when these methods start transitioning over to games that already cost 60 dollars with season passes that cost how much. They're making their bank. Trying to justify this shitty practice only encourages these shitty practices. It's not about having the money. It's about saying "Yeah, NRS. This is completely okay." But you, who seem to work for NRS seems to think they need this extra bank which I'd love for you to tell me how they do.

I complain a lot but only about things I love.
On one hand, it being cosmetic means I really shouldn't be bothered.
On other hand, as much as I tried I couldn't get all premium skins in Injustice 2. I did everything there was to get source crystals. Hell, I really tried to complete a guild multiverse, we never got past the second one (not enough active people). NRS only added crystal multiverses when pretty much all content for the game was out and I no longer felt like grinding endlessly.
It is their game, their choice, but I am very skeptical it won't turn into another grindfest.

Personally, I hate microtransactions. I have seen the companies start trying those, then making them bigger and bigger when they realized people would eventually pay a game split in parts.
Now they are going the next step and trying to make us pay a monthly fee to NOT own the game, just rent it.

I am not saying all of the dlc characters in MK11 could already have been in the base roster. But Shao Kahn shouldn't have been a preorder exclusive and we know that Shang Tsung is most likely already fully done.

This is just how I view things, of course. Others will disagree. But this is how I personally feel.

We’re all paying 60 bucks for the game. Some of us just know better. Thats the bad thing about capitalism. Sheep buy into bad practices and they ruin it for the rest of us.
Everyone is free to determine how much they value something on their own. So while you think "sheep" are encouraging "bad practices," the people that choose to buy it disagree with what you think the game is worth. Because last time I checked, you were not the sole arbitrary of the value of things.

Well, I'm sure all the questions will be answered next week. It doesn't sound like the cosmetic stuff is that important to you though, if you won't want to pay a few dollars for it or grind for it. I've played other games like that, and while sure I'd like the whateveritis, if I don't want it badly to pay or grind, I just move on.. so I'm not apprehensive about this move.

... So because I don't want to spend real money on it, I don't think it's important? I'm not sure how you got to that conclusion. I'm going to play the game, grind for in-game koins and unlock EVERYTHING! I love customisation and cosmetics in games, but I would much rather work for it to get it in the game than to spend real money to get them.

No, if you weren't going to grind for it OR pay for it, then that sounds like its not important. I thought you were saying you wouldn't if the coin values weren't "fair."

OH! Sorry, that was a misunderstanding then. :p
If the values are fair, I'm not going to have that big a problem with the cosmetics being purchasable through micro-transactions, is what I mean. It's if the grind is nerfed to the ground in an attempt to lure people into buying those krystals I'm very much against. :p

Got ya. Ya it would suck if something required unreasonable amounts of grinding to get, but then again for me at least, that something slides into the "i don't care enough" category :) Even if it is a bit disappointing.
