Something I'm thinking about: "The game will introduce a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang, featuring reimagined versions of iconic characters as they’ve never been seen before, along with a new fighting system, game modes, bone krushing finishing moves, and more "

So take Raiden, for example, as a reimagined version. Does that mean he could potentially not have some of his iconic moves? Would people be ok if their character didn't have access to some or all of their iconic moves?

Also, I'm eager to see what htis new fighting system is. Is it actually something new, or just tweeks to the current string system they've used for awhile?

Its obvious they were testing this in MK11 because they had those tag assists in towers mode. Where you picked your assist and then they each had 4 attacks they could be called. I'd imagine this is going to be the same thing.

As a sidenote, is Shang the same one from the last movie? The clothes look very similar and the "soul sucking" is practically identical. Did they hire the actual same movie actor?

Looks fantastic. Love how mystical and Asian it all looks, that’s how I love my MK, and the simple realistic costumes look amazing. And the gore… mwah… chef’s kiss!

I’m wondering if based upon the choices suggested by this trailer if the story mode will have proper optional paths this time, a bit like Aftermath did, but here it truly follows your choice of destiny rather than being a meaningless bit of fun just to see a few different cutscenes.

Noticed that myself! Couldn’t quite tell but would be a lovely touch if they did. I love having the extended universe references and actors in the games.

So the only different ones in the trailer really are Raiden and Liu

Everyone is going to be salty when their favorite MK waifu/gaifu is relegated to being a Kameo-

But if your character is just an assist they probably weren't going to make it into the game anyway.

See this is my issue....I'm fine right now beacause although I'm anxious rationally Sonya is surely gonna make it...but having Cassie or Rain as assists would be a terrible downgrade. If it's, let's say, Nitara and Kira, ok who cares. But Tanya or such...characters that could have been fully fledged...it's just weird.

Reimagined fighters? I bet we'll get Sonya with a personality more in the style of Cassie, with Johnny being a bit more serious. We don't need Cassie in the new era. But who will be the big bad? Shinnok? It'll be another Elder God, surely? Or Onaga, again?

They should really go to town on this concept. Have Mileena without her Tarkatan teeth, Quan Chi as a good sorcerer, Jax without metal arms...

I don't think so. I imagine Liu allowed him to exist in the new era as one of the threats the characters need to fight.

Liu references a lot about "choice" and such. And while all the other characters are shown in a glorious manner, Raiden is suspiciously shown as a nobody.

I was already not ok with Sonya missing her leg grab in MK11 so no, I would definitely not be ok with that. Isn't that the whole point of returning characters in fighting games?

I think that line is just generic marketing. The big bad looks like Shang lol. Watch Liu Kang get corrupted/fanatic ala Raiden in Mk9

Anyway, whatever we saw here is amazing. Top notch aesthetics, worlds and atmosphere that seem like what we really want.
I'm not even concerned to the new Kameo gimmick, i'm pretty sure they'll have something good around it.

My only concern is about the story. "Clean slates" and reimaginations are things I could never swallow...But it was kind of expected, so whatever.

Well perhaps as the god of all the realms or whatever now since he took over the kronika sands, maybe he needs minion gods to watch over the different realms or something and Raiden gets his lightning powers back from Liu in order to do so. But then we'd be in the same position of raiden having power to fuck shit up again lmfao.

Maybe raiden is the new shujinko, just some martial arts and can copy styles or whatever it was shujinko did
