She's absolutely iconic and part of the game from the start. You can't reboot this and not have Sonya, or worse, reboot it and replace her with a crap copy in the form of her daughter.
After posting this I started to think what if they didn't announce Sonya yet because they're planning to do a reveal announcing Kerri Hoskins is back? That'd be awesome! Here's hoping!

Ermac isn’t in this list… this feels like a reach. If they’re redoing everything I’m sure Ermac will be in this game. Jax won’t have his mechanical arms if it weren’t for Ermac. He’s also a creation of Shang iirc so fingers crossed he’s in. I can’t stand another game without him being playable
I don't know who that 'leaker' is, that posted the entire roster, but unless it's confirmed by the people we know have leaked info and have been correct, it's most likely bs. Unless I see me a blurry picture of the roster where half the women are bald, it's fake.
I dont like half-developed stuff. I'd love to play my character as main and not him to be degraded into some kind of mob. Kill me for that
