Evo's main lineup has been announced, and MK11 is missing. What are your overall thoughts on this?
"Poor numbers"?expected
it was pretty dull last year and had poor numbers for its slot
This should be our chance to rally and support our game. We can run a big side event at EVO similar to what Skullgirls did many years ago. People need to realize making it to the main stage of EVO isn't the end all be all, you can still have a strong community. Let's stand and fight. Like someone suggested, let's make Combobreaker and CEO our EVO. They're better ran anyway. LOL!Predictably, the anti-Mortal Kombat 11 crowd has come out to salivate and blame the meta.
Mr. Wizard is a businessman who knows that a Mortal Kombat game is difficult to promote because of the extreme gore.
There are also rumors that fighting game companies pay money for their game to be included. I can definitely see how the board of directors would see no profit initiatives by paying Mr. Wizard, especially when 11+ million copies have been sold. They likely view EVO as insignificant.

"Smash Ultimate - 3492
Street Fighter V - 1929
Tekken 7 - 1885
Samurai Shodown - 1719
Mortal Kombat 11 - 1567
Unist - 1156
DragonBall FighterZ - 1191
Soul Calibur 6 - 742
BlazBlue:CTB - 640"
I am aware that many individuals cannot wait to push their agendas in this thread. However, let us stick to the facts instead of our feelings about the game.
If enough people in the community complain, there could be a voting process and the game could be included.
Mortal Kombat 11 is not the best fighting game that I have played, but I had rather have an MK game than no MK game at EVO.
Literally it's the best numbers for a MK game but that's not saying much as it isn't breaking 2,000 and comparing the fact that Tekken 7 has been out since 2015 (2017 for consoles) and got 1,885, those numbers are horrible. Hell, Street Fighter V got close to 2,000 and it's been out since 2016 and you're going to tell me that their (MK11) numbers are going to hold a candle to the aforementioned games?Predictably, the anti-Mortal Kombat 11 crowd has come out to salivate and blame the meta.

Nothing other than Smash will consistently beat SFV entrants. By this logic, they should only have 2 games at EVO.Literally it's the best numbers for a MK game but that's not saying much as it isn't breaking 2,000 and comparing the fact that Tekken 7 has been out since 2015 (2017 for consoles) and got 1,885, those numbers are horrible. Sticking to the facts notwithstanding anyone emotional responses, MK11 still struggles to beat a close to 4-year-old game in Street Fighter V in EVO and barely close enough to even stay close to Samurai Shodown thus one can easily conclude that MK11, with all of its stringent promotional ventures, still could not muster enough participation even if it tried to without the promise of DLCs and other means (i.e. patches).
I remember people were walking away at that point in the game's lifespan because it had gone for several months without a huge patch and people were fed up with what they saw in the finals of it's first EVO.
I feel like it's partially NRS' fault for our community being the way it is. They design their entries to be so wildly different from one another that we can't hope to retain the same players every iteration. Everybody is a fan of a different style of Mortal Kombat, nobody can agree on what they actually want. So all we do is fight all day. Tekken players might argue about whether or not Rage is a good system, but you have entire threads here talking about how the entire core of MK11 is rotten and should be thrown out.Imo when your own community is attacking the game, it makes it easier for others to write it off as well.
If we can’t get it together to demand that it be there, no one else is going to feel compelled to fight for us.
At some point we need to realize that there are more important things as a community than just what game we’re playing at the moment. The momentum we build (or destroy) has lasting effects.

Lol what? You want us to rally with you guys after you've demonized, ostracized, and assaulted everyone that didn't stand for what you believed in for this game and called them deplorable insults and had the nerve to call us "casuals" effectively silencing us and our opinions just so you can get your precious video game at an EVO? I don't know whether I should laugh at this and you or if I should cry tears of salt for all the months I've seen people get attacked for having a difference in opinion regarding this game.Imo when your own community is attacking the game, it makes it easier for others to write it off as well.

I watched MK11 throughout the entire time it was on the streams at EVO 2019 -- from the preliminaries to the final round and the numbers barely reached 20,000; the highest number I can recall for some of the stream was 11.3k and that number fluctuated on a downward slope. The game was losing steam as early as the top 128 entrants...Oh, my bad
I forgot a word.
I meant to say poor view numbers for its slot.
I watched pretty much all of MK11, SC6, Smash, Tekken and it had awful numbers the whole way. Then low numbers for the main game on Saturday where DBF which was earlier nearly doubled it.
How is it living life just saying shit with zero basis in realityLiterally it's the best numbers for a MK game but that's not saying much as it isn't breaking 2,000 and comparing the fact that Tekken 7 has been out since 2015 (2017 for consoles) and got 1,885, those numbers are horrible. Which is telling since until they removed it from the mainstage, Super Smash Bros Melee was breaking many records for a 11+-year-old game and was getting the majority of viewers other than SFV. And even if we stick with this "logic", you would want EVO to be represented by the MOST popular and the MOST visible game for the tournament. Whatever gives EVO the most sponsors and ad revenue and most importantly VIEWERS, should get mainstage and get the best slots. We saw how bad MK11 last year got the brunt end of the stick despite just coming out that same year.Nothing other than Smash will consistently beat SFV entrants. By this logic, they should only have 2 games at EVO.
This neither here nor there, Being dismissive of the issues while blindly supporting the game is exactly why we are where we are now. Nobody is even asking the right questions, ppl would rather put on their tinfoil hats and discuss conspiracy than have any serious open minded discussion about the state of the game. "oh it's money, oh it's politics, oh Evo just hates us" that's what they rather say right now while the game is on life support. This should be our chance to rally and support our game. "Zero basis..."How is it living life just saying shit with zero basis in reality
The Meta is what's causing the backlash against the game. Nobody in the FGC is blind to how negative the community has been towards MK11. And the community is negative towards it because of it's Meta. MK11 is hard to monetize, and its community has no passion for it. Why would they have it a second year? If we don't give a fuck about the game, we can't expect anyone else to do it for us.holy shit there's some garbage takes in this thread.
1. the current meta has nothing to do with this. none of the decision makers at evo decided to cut mk because they don't like the counter poking meta or throws. the largest fighting game tournament isn't making decisions based on their personal preference. not to mention if the game was really so boring then it would have showed with entree numbers and stream views for pro tour events but that just hasn't happened. the game has been doing really well competitively.
You’re kidding, right. This neither here nor there, Being dismissive of the issues while blindly supporting the game is exactly why we are where we are now. Am sorry, but ignoring the fact that our less than a year released game just got declared irrelevant by the biggest fgc platform out there is not the answer. No amount of rallying behind combobreaker is gonna undo that damage.
Is Melee irrelevant after being drop by EVO? No. Is Skullgirls irrelevant? No. There are number of games that have enver been to EVO and still have people palying them. This isn't a tinfoil hat this is telling you, if you like this game you get out there and play it. We shouldn't sit around and hope for something to come our way. EVO has made it clear it's about money and that's fine. They have dropped games that did well on the stream and attendance wise before. It has nothing to do with MK11's quality as a game, but what makes them the most money. What they did was business. Many fighters have survive without the EVO platform which is being tainted PC Esports culture. Why do you think DOA isn't there? This neither here nor there, Being dismissive of the issues while blindly supporting the game is exactly why we are where we are now. What are you even talking about? Broken has nothing to do with it. Did you not see that they brought back MvC2? What matters is how fun the game is. Everyone says MK11 is the most balanced NRS game, but nobody is saying that it's the most fun they've had with an NRS game. I'm not even talking about on some casual shit either. Cats just don't want to play this shit. Can't even get motherfuckers to play for money. You’re kidding, right.
Injustice 1 was far more broken at both EVOs than either MKX or MK11 and was there two years.
You cannot blame the game. But when a community becomes obsessed with tearing everything down instead of building things up, it will have ripple effects.
