It's no fail, they released it for a day and people downloaded it turning it into a brick THEN they pulled it. Just because they have pulled it NOW doesn't mean it didn't happen to many people yesterday who are still having problems with a glorified brick because they downloaded the patch. GG Sony.
whatever Don MattrickIt's no fail, they released it for a day and people downloaded it turning it into a brick THEN they pulled it. Glad Microsoft isn't as incompetent!
No he meant to link that. Sony's patch was indeed "EPIC FAIL". But apparently the thread got locked cause the patch was pulled even though people who downloaded it are experiencing serious issues with their PS3 (i.e not being able to use it for anything).Wrong thread?

Oh, yeah, it is the wrong thread. But apparently it can't be discussed in a separate thread cause it will just get locked. No I meant, this is the xbone bashing thread. What does PS3 have to do with that?
Microsoft do not seem to be as prone to these kinds of mistakes as Sony, but if it were to happen you could have avoided that update the same way you would avoid it on PS3, by unplugging your internet. You could play offline until the issue was solved (within 24hrs), but it's funny how you try to turn even a thing like this (a huge error by Sony) back around on Microsoft. The recent PS3 patch is a relevent thing though, you see the PS3 patch could be avoided by juts not logging your system online and downloading the patch once the news broke, but if this had been an issue with XB1 the system would be fucked simply because it is an online only device.
Well yeah I guess it could be looked at that way...The recent PS3 patch is a relevent thing though, you see the PS3 patch could be avoided by juts not logging your system online and downloading the patch once the news broke, but if this had been an issue with XB1 the system would be fucked simply because it is an online only device.
How come PS4 supporting videos on this forum are frivolous and immature, whereas the Xbox videos are practical, serious and much less self-serving?
Sounds about right. Would be the same way too if the X1 was the popular choice. Oh well, sorta glad we're in the minority. It's like an elite premium statusPopularity means you get the immature crowd I guess.
It could have a lot to do with the fact that PS fans are happy and having fun while xbox is trying to dig out of a grave ,reverse the affects of horrible messaging and PR, and trying to desperatly spin things to not look so bad...Popularity means you get the immature crowd I guess.
Well said. I mean, it's not like Microsoft dropped their support for the original Xbox install base and devised a system knowing it's hardware concerns but released it anyway because they were worried about the prospect of losing market share to the same incompetent name brand right? Oh, wait...It's no fail, they released it for a day and people downloaded it turning it into a brick THEN they pulled it. Just because they have pulled it NOW doesn't mean it didn't happen to many people yesterday who are still having problems with a glorified brick because they downloaded the patch. GG Sony.
I never ever researched a new ptch before installing it on my PS3, I was just lucky that I had been at school all night and not home or I would have been one of those with a brick, alos I read somewhere it was something to with HDDs that were larger than 500G, don't quote me on that. From when I researched with upgrading my HDD I found that Seagates were the preffered brand and that was the exact brand Sony used in the system, but I also have one of the first released systems so I likely would have been trully affected.Well yeah I guess it could be looked at that way...
Personally I wait for info before dl'ing a patch...because funny enough for the people bashing Sony for this...I had a 360 brick that they had to replace the system due to a patch like 2 years ago...
Also the sony issue seems to have something to do with people who install different hd's into the ps3...there is an argument over if these were listed as unconpatable or not...(they were)
Sent under duress.
True, but this is what irks me about consumers... I would be less than happy if the situation was reversed. I want both next-gen providers to stay head-to-head in competition so I can get the best variety, quality and value from my games instead of being forced into a single direction. Most of these videos imply that they want Xbox to fail or Microsoft to collapse (if not in the video, then the atrocious comment section) for absolutely no reason other than to say "we picked the better console, therefore we are better!"It could have a lot to do with the fact that PS fans are happy and having fun while xbox is trying to dig out of a grave ,reverse the affects of horrible messaging and PR, and trying to desperatly spin things to not look so bad...

Console wars are stupid.
Tell me exactly what you are talking about so I can see if I know anything about whatever you're saying.Well said. No, a person's opinion is ultimately up to them, not Microsoft. The X1 has been presented the same to all, and consumers construct their own opinions. People like me have decided they want to see what happens, while others decide that they don't care, or that they 100% like the idea, or that they'd rather choose something else... but the most vocal and idiotic opinion is unanimously wanting Microsoft to die a slow and painful death. Not really consumers fault. Its more Xbones fault for pursuing an anti consumer, pro foot in mouth agenda.
Well if you absolutely insist I spell it out to you, how did Microsoft manage to go from the original Xbox in 2001, a relatively well built system, to a faulty product like the 360 for over 4 years? (I can't speak for the slim since I don't have one, and only know a handful of people that have one outside of tournaments so I'm not gonna pretend I know the intricacies of something I don't have)Tell me exactly what you are talking about so I can see if I know anything about whatever you're saying.

So now I need a Gaming Continuity Plan to use the X1? I have to have Internet and if that fails, a smartphone to tether to.
No Internet = Brick = no thanks
