The most telling thing about this is EA is not doing anything they said they made a mistake and used games are very important to the industry...

You can criticize all you want, because your opinion means nothing. Nor do any of ours. The only thing that matters is playing whatever system you prefer. Not that hard to understand, yet we have 18 pages of you trying to push your opinions on people.

Xbox is designed hardware wise, to install games. This explains why you have the 24 hour check in so you don't clone and copy shit. And the lack of lending shit so you don't just buy one disc and install it to all your friends.

To change their policies, you need a change in hardware and how it handles games.

Plus, its very hard to 'resell' digital stuff, while reselling physical stuff is easy as crap. Walk in a store... pick it up.

I see where you are coming from.. But it is a bit from a negative stand point yes? Microsoft has said the reason for the 1 per 24 hr link is to step gaming up to the next level.. You are viewing it as the "clone and copy shit" so why could I not sit in my gaming room, plug into Internet... Get my hourly check for 24 hrs then go on a pirating spree.. Rinse and repeat once every 24 hrs?

Sure I get the anti-pirating angle- with the media being changed and pushed the way it is going.. Trade ins and returns would be hard.. Much like trying to return/trade in a digital copy of a book purchased on a Nook.. There is currently no market for it because it is new technology.. In the game systems (roughly 8-10 year lifespan) I would be willing to bet that they will formulate a digital trade in system.. Remember the days when Babages and other retailers had no such thing as trade in's?

ITT people who are scared of changes and innovation and want to be stuck in the past. XB1 is pushing for the future while PS4 is the same as the PS3 but with better hardware. Microsoft are trying to do new and risky stuff while Sony are just playing it safe and are appealing to the conservatives.

Ok. XB1 are pushing for the future. So, what future is that? What advantages does xb1 have?

Live is doing the same thing. AC2 and Halo 3 are free games that will be free for download.

As for advantages, having your games on a cloud that you can play from another console by simply signing in seems like a great step for the future. The integration of motion controls and other visceral media incorporated into a game console is pretty big. The ability to control my Fantasy Football team while watching the game on my video game console is a huge step. Being alerted to scores and lead changes in sports while multi-tasking on a console is a good step.

Moving towards digitalization, which I see as the future. Just look at Steam.

Now that the Kinect is required for every XB1 I'm excited to see how developers can integrate it into games in innovative and fun ways especially since it's much improved over the first Kinect.

I see XB1 like I did with Steam. Everyone hated Steam in the beginning, but it got better and better while building on the same concept that it was hated for and now many people love it. I think the XB1 will go the same path. These are just things off the top of my head.

Steam works because its on the PC.

Steam on a console? No way lol

No upgrades, no mods... no point. Might as well stick to actual steam because you've made your xbox into a PC... without any of the advantages of a console, or a PC.

Exactly. What they HAVE said. More information on both consoles will be released before November. I wouldn't be surprised if some policies of both companies become more similar as time goes on.

Not really. If you have to options:

Option 1 has better hardware and doesn't need the internet at all times.
Option 2 has worse hardware and needs the internet at all times.

Which do I get? Unless you can provide some reasons why the internet being always on is an advantage... I can't see anything going in xboxs way.

I'm not sure l am qualified to answer this..I'm not sure ANY of us are...

I do know that my Xbox has always been online..in fact I can only count up to perhaps 24 hrs total from the 1st Xbox onward the amount of time I have NOT had Internet for whatever reason..

So, it is not like I played fighters online, then when I wanted to play Skyrim, I took the console offline.... If anything I would just join a friends party while they played COD or a fighter I didn't participate in and just shoot the shit while playing..
I believe Microsoft is truly ushering in the next phase of gaming, and we have NO idea what that means and can only "try" to relate to what it means from our current/past (which is human nature and fine).
