Tech - Kung Lao Kung Lao MK9 Spin is Back (8/31/15 Patch Discussion)

This guy looks kind of tuff...
Messing with The New MKX Patch that Released a Few Hours Ago on Xbox One (PS4 Patch Coming Soon I Asume.
Some of the First Things i Noticed and Checked.
* Tempest Combos Do about 2% Less
*Ex Hat Spin Pushes back where you cant 11212 Midscreen or In Corner Without Moving Forward.

* Buzz Saw Hats of course do a lil more damage.
* Since Ex Low Hat is Closer to Kung Laos Body, You can do Various BNBs into a Hard Knockdown with B321
and Set up EX Low Hat and Go for a jump in Hard to Blockable Midscreen!
Before it used to be near impossible to do this because the ex low hat would make contact right away when they are getting up to block or if they hold down to lay on the ground.

Now one of the Biggest Changes IMO:
CHARACTERS NOW TURN AROUND RIGHT AWAY WHEN SOMEONE JUMPS OVER.
Before the Patch, When a Char Jumped over you , there would be a delay before your characther turned around this would make Anti Air Attempts Fail (such as Sonya Doing D2 and it whiffing the wrong direction)
Why is this important for not only Kung Lao but other characters?

YOU CAN REGULAR SPIN CROSSOVER JUMPS WITH EASE LIKE IN MORTAL KOMBAT 9!
Before the patch, you would have to wait a bit for lao to turn around to input the spin the opposite way, or do the spin right away but while they were still in front of you, before the jump.

This is good news for characters who have good fast normals, or specials, to hit ppl out of the air as they jump over. Regular Spin also seems more reliable against jumping attacks in front, because hurt boxes seem to be extended..

yes the change is to the characters turning around right away on when ppl cross over jump.
so you can anti air regular spin with ease now.

do people jump in on Laos on knockdown?
Kotal, Sonya, Sub, Shinnok Raiden used to have their hitboxes concealed behind the attack when they jumped, it was extremely hard to stuff them out of the air even with regular spin.

according to @Cat all jump attack hurtboxes got expanding and the turn around animation tracking recognizing log was changed for better, so Jab out of the air might actually be a thing

Awesome. I can already see a lot of scrubs getting frustrated by it lol.

In the neutral? Jump, jump, jump. Now if I see you coming you will be getting AA'd instead of just blocking your jump attacks.

this is perfect. I cant wait till someone attempts to jump over me...especially online.

He cant AA on reaction without meter now, that's the only buff he needed.
You're right. This patch balanced him more. He is still easily top 3, but I feel like the hat spin and ex hat spin in tempest were important tools in applying pressure as well as big damage punish combos.

he is not balanced! he is mid tier now! they took alway the pressure and the damage, the only thing left is a 2 frames link to combo into what? 30% omg
yea its fucking ridiculous that they nerfed lao in that way. I mained buzz saw from the start. but it was nice to have a back up of tempest. now I may not have that option anymore.

So with the new pushback is his 112124 ex hat block string gone or just harder to do?

Also is Tempest Lao's average damage around 32-34% now?

But lets be honest , Lao is an OP char and don't deserves more Buff , online Lao is like a disiase every one wanna be the PL or the Foxyy grampa .... its so stupid , lao makes every one goes full salt
Most of these buffs affect buzz-saw, which was anything but OP. Even spin working for cross-ups isn't really that big a deal for tempest since ex spin was a fool proof anti-crossover anyway.

Tempest actually got nerfed so I'm not sure what you're on about.
