Not all people are like that thoughThe reason people celebrate it is because it's something that society still has an issue with, and they shouldn't. I mean, look at the Indiana law fiasco that's currently going on. People are outraged because it's pulling us backwards as a society, and people still don't accept gay people, despite the fact that someone being gay has zero effect on anyone else. It's just a big thing and a huge step when a gay character is introduced, since the representation is still rather small. It's an even crazier introduction because Kung Jin is also a Shaolin monk.
I will say, though, seeing people say "who cares" is much more preferred than "this is stupid/wrong/abominable/etc".
You're right, just because you can have an opinion doesn't make it right. What exactly am I calling what? Also you would be wrong, in Dragon Age Inquisition, there's a character named The Iron Bull who you can pursue a homosexual relationship with, in fact, there's a laundry list of games with gay characters you could consider "masculine".Just because you can have an opinion, doesnt make it right. The fact that there's never been a gay character in such a masculine kind of game like MK is a big deal. You can call it whatever the hell you want, but it doesn't mean that it is correct, but again, in a day in age when gay folks are treated like 2nd class human beings, it is a deal bigger than you, me, TYM, MK or gaming. It transcends that, just like when Rosa Parks refused to get up for a white person on a bus. Had history be reversed, the Civil Rights movements of decades ago and the one that exists now would be entirely different, as would be your opinion because you might have been the minority or persons who've been denied basic rights (like the ones expressed in the Declaration of Independence). This stuff you cannot argue.....but when you do, you come across weak minded, ignorant and hateful.

I do have to ask, not that I share this viewpoint but rather I'd like to propose a question: Do you think people stating "they don't care" is kind of normalizing being gay as just another aspect of humanity, or do you feel celebrating is what will make gay characters more acceptable?Once again straight people please keep the "This isn't important" comments to yourself especially when we live in a world in which one of the leading "Civil" Countries in the world still has states that can legally fire us for being LGBT
I'm fairly new here, but it seems that some people can't accept others opinions on important matters, and would rather boil it down to calling people close minded. How ridiculous.LOL, why do we try to have civil conversations about important topics on this forum? It never works out.
Happiness is a warm... guy?I wanted Erron to be gay
Are you dense ?their were tons of articles on Dorian and the first trans character . I think you should probably look up facts before ya state cause the intelligence ain't running high . Bioware games are made in Canada an in my city we accept all kinds of people .Not all people are like that though

Here are a few:
Where are their articles and praise for including LGBT figures? You guys keep saying that gays are treated as second class human beings like it's a normal thing; and so far in my experiences with life everyone loves gay people. Just because a few states haven't legalized marriage doesn't mean everyone in the respective place hates them. Selective states and some people stuck in old times are the only ones who actually hate gay people. There will always be someone to oppose you, some people don't like straights; others dont like gays. Drop your holier than thou attitude because if I come across as weak minded and ignorant, we seem to have some stuff in common.

He said masculine, I'm not talking about Dorian. I'm no longer responding to people who would rather insult than discuss. the winning post for this threadHappiness is a warm... guy?

Depends how they go about it. From the sound of it, the way they did it for Kung Jin sounds like a respectful and innocuous way to do it. No big song and dance about it, but they still communicated it. It's all about how big of a deal they make it to me. Sexuality hardly matters to a fighting game and in the context of the story unless it deals with love and sexuality, so the fact they didn't make it a big deal is fantastic. That is unlike Marvel or DC changing a characters ethnicity or sexuality then publicizing that. At that point it doesn't seem genuine.Mentioning one's homosexuality in any capacity, at any point in time, ever=Shoving it down people's throats.
I disagree. Dorian's entire character was defined by his sexual identity, which is why his questline was so polarizing. It had nothing to do with comfort levels of homosexuality, which has always been prevelant in DA. It had everything to do with Dorian's entire person hood defining his existence and it was shallow.people aren't defined by their sexuality if it makes you uncomfortable thats a different story. Dorians was done perfectly you don't ever even have to find out about it.
I know you said don't comment but i just wanted to thank you for the amazing response and support. It IS a big deal specially for gays, because we don't get to play as a gay character in a game much.Just because you can have an opinion, doesnt make it right. I am not gonna argue with you or anything coz i dont even know who the fuck Dorian even is, but I can tell you when you're gay, your sexuality IS a very big part of your life coz so many good and VERY BAD things can happen to you because of it.I disagree. Dorian's entire character was defined by his sexual identity, which is why his questline was so polarizing. It had nothing to do with comfort levels of homosexuality, which has always been prevelant in DA. It had everything to do with Dorian's entire person hood defining his existence and it was shallow.
Kung Jin is a hero who happens to be gay. Dorian was a gay man, who left his home because he was gay, and then fell into a heroic conflict. The former is simply preferred because the man was not defined by his sexuality.
Pretty sure they did get praised....Not all people are like that though

Well there is your problem, you still think it's some kind of lifestyle decision.I see hood race Latino black asain dudebro even an N word drop.
What troubles a Normy like me is the comparisons some of you look to for examples . I just feel like comparing it to a gangbanger (no pun) or some other life style dission would make more sense . I do find it offensive when people compare it to minoritys like race wise. Im aloud to think that right or Yea.
