What are the MU's that are considered in balanceds favor?
Balanced mops Bo' rai cho. Gm sub is slightly in Balanced favor. The other two Kenshis also suffer a bit vs this variation. Very few other matchups are good for him, imo.

The main problem of Balanced now are his specials (read "Save Balanced Kenshi" op and through whole thread to see what he might need to be viable). He is bad up close, but at least now he can play more footsies with b1 and f21.
If nrs actualy cared, they could look specially into his push, teleflurry, and overhead slash, and make him viable once and for all. There is a place between mk9 kenshi and Balanced, which is called mid tier, where he should be.

Why do you say this? It's been a popular talking point throughout this game but I disagree. This isn't MK9 anymore.
I would say it's a 5.5-4.5 in Balanced favor, but the advantage is very small, you can consider it a 5-5. It's a fair matchup for both players.

That's cool and all, but you didn't say why. I am curious as to your reasoning for the numbers. Why does Balanced beat Grandmaster?

Basically what boba_buster said. Every special Balanced has ignores the clone.
Other characters, when get cornered by Sub, have to respect clone cancel, they get stucked after it.
Kenshi can even punish strings canceled into regular clone with his reversal non ex push.
Balanced forces the Sub player to play in a very different way from what he is used to.

Imo, the only thing that prevents this matchup from being a 6-4 in Balanced favor is Sub's slide. He can go under teleflurry, get in your face with it, and recovers pretty fast.

Valid points, but that doesn't make this in Kenshi favor to me. Sub also punishes kenshi for every special he has, out footsies him bad, has plus frames and safe 50/50 mixups. Ignoring the clone and making the other player play slightly differently isn't an advantage matchup in my eyes. Ignoring the close still make sub a way better character than kenshi.

Kenshi can full combo punish Sub's b2 overhead option with a b3 low, by the way.

As I said it's not a great advantage, you can think of it as a 5-5 if you want. Would be nice if all matchups in the game were as close as this one.

A smart Sub player would pick Cryomancer vs Kenshi instead of GM.

Sub does not out footsie kenshi , they both have shitty footsies.if anything kenshis d1 is better , his d4 has more reach and his b1 is better than any mid that sub has

Kenshi actually has good normals, just not so much up close. Like for example, Kenshi's D4 has enough frame advantage (23 frames on hit) to guarantee Teleflurry, run up pressure with 421, 1 strings, 21 strings (run up pressure is only guaranteed if D4 on hit isn't max distance, in this case Teleflurry is still guaranteed) and the mix up with the run throw. The same can be done with B1 on hit (17 frames on hit) and its slightly easier for guaranteed run pressure because it causes less stagger distance than D4.
Kenshi's D1, his fastest move up close, isn't bad but can be low profiled by some normals.

If I remember correctly, Sub Zero doesn't have anything guaranteed off his D4 on hit except in the corner.

How do I beat this bastard?
I've heard people say more than once that Kenshi is a really crappy character but I just don't see it, I keep losing to him and I don't know why.
Help!

If you could upload a video of a match between you and a kenshi player I'd happily help you out

I'm assuming you have no problems at all with Balanced up close since it has some of the worst offense in the game. Just block low and tech his throws as much as possible, rising karma and EX rising karma are both punishable.

For possessed, try armoring through low totem gaps, every string into low totem leaves a pretty big gap except for 42 and 421. Low totem is also 24f so you can definitely react and block if you're top of your game.

For Kenjutsu, it's the 50/50 variation so just guess right and punish.
