Yes and no. They skipped some of the interesting parts of part 3, but then they also skipped a lot of the boring parts as well, and It's not exactly the same, since they condensed it.
I would say just skip reading it, or better yet, go watch the abridged series. It's great.

I saw the DLC, not the happiest about it. That said, they're as good as mine. Also, I called the Rival Schools connection months ago. It makes me happy since Rival Schools is rad.
