Injustice: Understanding Pre Alpha Demo Stage

I meant it in terms of you "fear" its effect on the game
Believe me, I don't.

MKD had cut scenes sort of like this but again with the players testing this game it'll be worked out and swell
Cutscenes aren't a testable balance issue though, they're just an aesthetic. An aesthetic that I don't think they'll take out because that's a part of their game plan to rope in the casual crowd. I hope to be proven utterly wrong.

Right, so what we're seeing is the just playable version or just after that and they're actually in the alpha stage since they are still considering dropping elements?

lol... just trying to get clear here. Pig y u yell at me? LOL
lol blame the over abundance of coffee this morning

But just trying to get my point in and stickied

Where they are in development has NOT been seen yet nor will it. What you see playable now is from months ago and they are past this point that you see in gameplay footage

Beside 16tits and delrich who else is testing this game from the mk9 tournament scene? Tom Brady? please say brady.
You know what they want you to know

But to be pleasing to your ear im going to say Tyrant is hired as the lead designer, QA president and head of all operations at not only NRS but WB and is now in charge of film production as well not to mention Jax has been confirmed DLC but only playable by true "Niqqas" such as Tyrant and no one else
Believe me, I don't.

Another thing to consider is this

Financially the public matters more seeing how there's 3.5 million people who bought mk9 but 300-500 consistent tourney players and i use the word consistent with question

Hmm cmon they told us 16tit why not confirm if brady is testing maan. I mean not a big deal I actually have faith in nrs and I am not one those guys cough*foxygrandpa/aninja*cough who is salty about their mk9 failures so I take it out by bashing injustice.

glorious response lololol

but on this note, knowing the identities of the tourney players working with nrs to make this game viable is unnecessary and will cause unneeded drama. im sure that 16 bit has enough people spamming him asking questions about the roster and other things he cant touch on, and the more known faces working the more people getting bombarded, the more chances someone slips and talks, and then the worse things get for the game as a whole

NRS/WB knows what to do

Honestly have any of u actually worked on a game? I worked bac on ncaa 10 and that game didn't go up for cert until a monh and a half before ship date. They keepsaying builds are pre alph but in reality there in alpha at this point beta will start once they lock code so honestly untill the deo is actually realeased realy not to much to worry about sure u can ask things like will nightwing be able to switch from sticks to staf mid combo or things that u might belive will happen. How ever way to early to be calling out that a character is over powered or what not

as someone who's worked on software I can tell you that pig is right.

The best thing we can do is constructive criticism such has raising flags with interesting questions. Such has (Do you feel with the current public pre-alpha release that some characters need balancing, if so how do you plan on approaching this situation?) Is much more useful for the development team than a simple : 'Wow this looks gay, games is broken fuck that'

And honestly the testers they have brought in and might bring in in the future really have that responsibility in determining what is OP, what needs adjusting and what is flat out broken and then will turn in daily detailed reports to have the issues adjusted

Builds don't matter to me. Sure, I was way off base with the timer, but I still think it's fair to critique the philosophy of their design--not ridicule, critique. And I still have concerns about that. Testing doesn't really matter that much either. It might find glitches and bugs(It won't find all of them), but it won't make the designers go in new directions.

We all know that balance actually only matters to a small % of their users, and that the game is going to do 3 million+ units, but I'd still like for the game to make some logical sense, and not just be a clusterfuck. Either way, I'm more prepared for what I'm getting into this time, as opposed to with MK9, because I've been playing Virtua Fighter. So I no longer really approach NRS games as 2d games, and that has helped me come to terms with their design philosophy.
First off if you don't think testing a game along the stages of its dev dosen't matter stop playing games. Honestly do you wanna play a game that crashs for just hiting start or lets say start tranning and then realize that your controls all got reset and back out real quick and then that crashes the game. or the costumes don't show up or a certain combo doesn't hit because the game thinks its a mid when it should be an overhead...so get outta here with that crap Sorry Pig Of The Hut if thats a lil to harsh lol but testing is important and normally a good testing crew will find about 90% of all the main A bugs or show stoppers that they call them.
As far as the games direction is concerned that is all done before the pre alpha build i know this because i have see a game start from the ground up Injustice was in the pre stage for well over six months of just story boards models and other type things to portray the game outside of the computer. As well as a script much like that of a movie with the stolen and dialogue. Plus for you to say that users don't care about balance your fucking loco bro to use another company EA if you don't think that players of NCAA and Madden what a balanced games your outta your fucking mind look at NBA Live the last game that they made was terrible from the get go so many issues they had soo many complaints and returns and other things with that game.
Gamers want to be able to open up a game slap it in the system and start playing with next to no issues that would interrupt their enjoyment. Why would you compare VF5 to this game MK is a 2d fighter with a 3d cell-drawn type back ground nothing that VF has transfers to MK unless you count footies. 3D is not = 2d get that straight lol

Pre-alpha for a lot of titles means that you won't even have properly skinned characters and very generic placeholders, it all depends on the company. It's amazing that a game looks this good in pre-alpha. NRS has even said they may rework MAJOR gameplay mechanics at this point to the public, so I don't know how someone couldn't see that trickle down through the entire game.

Testing is extremely important and involved for games with even a fraction of the budget for Injustice. It isn't just the job of a tester to "find bugs" but to present the reason that something is broken and a means to fix or replace an element of the game at the devs discretion. They can even suggest that a portion of the game isn't done properly and why and they can fix it as the tester suggests.
ZAQ ya pre is usally the basic of the basic

Hector said in interview that they are still adding characters, moves, and mechanics to the game. Some of what they're not talking about is due to planned reveals over time.. But some are because many things aren't actually implemented yet, and it doesn't make sense to guarantee a feature that might be changed.

I think the real issue though, is how to deal with balancing a game where tech will continue to be discovered months after release. IMO the true measuring stick will not simply be how the game is at release, but how well they can deal with the adaptations and innovations that take place over the period that follows, without 'correcting' things too far in the opposite direction.

Having their strategy well mapped out will prevent 'using up' all of the patches too early on.. But.. *and this is important*.. It'll require patience from the entire community, to not be screaming for a patch every 3 days and be willing to wait until people completely explore characters and their possibilities, test them in tournament, and go back and refactor their approaches.

Are people mature enough to handle that?

Dude, do you seriously think most people who play fighting games, or Madden care about balance? That's a fantasy, dude. The majority of people just play the games with family, friends, or online.
I'd assume they would care about balance. If you were to play Madden and only 1 team was good and absolutely dominated the rest, I guarantee you that people would be angry. Same with fighters, you've got 1 guy who can easily shit on anyone else and the rest of the roster is shit compared to him, people are gonna get angry.

Let me add something else

When MK9 was released April 17th 2011 it was preceded by a demo March 17th 2011

The Demo released in March 2011, month before release, was from a "BUILD" 8 months back (Sep 2010)

People exploded thinking that was the final build when in fact it was a alpha version

I think dude was referring to the millions of casuals who play a game non-competitively.

The guy who says balance isn't important is delusional, I've discussed alongside Epic developers on Gears of War 1,2 3's balance, personally. A game needs balance, the essence on creating a game is to create a fun and balanced game, doesn't matter which demographic plays your game, the goal is for your game to function and be fair.
