What's new

If I was going to start listening to Metal, where would I start?

Sage Leviathan

I'm platinum mad!
Metallica, and of course System of a Down.

By the end of those 2, you should be able to decide if you like the versatile or the hardcore.

McNasty

Moist.
If you liked sabbath they are a great place to start. A lot of people have been trying to throw you into the deep end while IMO its better to start with the classics and progress your own tastes.

"Rebel" Teenage girl metal

Yes that last one is a joke, don't watch it. The rest are all pretty good starters for each genre IMO

Come On Die Young
Why the fuck did no one tag me?

I started out in middle school listening to Killswitch Engage haha. Then I moved into more extreme metal genres. I'll just post a couple good examples from genres I like.

Progressive

Metalcore (not the flippy emo hair kind)

folk-ish black metal

And if you don't like harsh vocals here's a good power metal song

Reading some of these suggestions, my inner elitist is trying to come forth, jk.

If you want to get into death metal a great band to listen to is Death, the vocals are harsh, but still clear and there is a lot of melody in the music while still being Heavy.

I wish I had been raised like this little girl and boy
