This is some remy ma nicki Minaj stuff. Remy is likely the better writer, but she's still pretty obviously trying to come up on someone more famous' name.

This would be really fucking hype had you maybe gutted a bunch of top players on redhot Sunday's or on REO's stream or something, really anything that made the scene take notice. You claim that this is hype and "gargantuan", and that we should all be excited simply because you say so. It just doesn't work that way.

It'd be one thing if you walked up to REO at a major and pulled out a hundred bucks with no fanfare and said let's do this shit. Have someone record it, and boom we've got something now.

There's just no context to this whatsoever, I don't think even people like myself who are pretty in tune with this game and love seeing new players emerge (seeing rye, destroyer, dragon, semiij, revet, rise has been fucking hype to me) have enough of an awareness around you as a player to find this compelling.

This just comes across as entitled. Why should these guys respond is my question? I agree this scene is at its best with some wwf or ecw if you prefer drama and rivalries to make the sets more narratively interesting. We would all agree that the PL sonic feud is a highlight of mkx.

But the difference is that no one needed to explain why the two players in question battling on twitter and putting their money where their mouths were made for good drama.

You've put in a lot of effort trying to drum this up, so good for you, I hope it pans out and you shake some shit up, but I think I'll wait for the stream archives personally haha.

Yeah this is the other aspect of this. Calling out two former greats that in all honesty have not been dominant in this game at all, seems like the easy way out. So this supports what I'm saying though, it seems too calculated to call out those two specifically as they are probably the best known players in the scene that are currently just not that great. So boxy gets the notoriety of the name recognition and isn't taking that huge of a risk because I'd venture that most players that get out of pools would take sets off tom and reo no problem.

No shade at tom and reo, both talented fg players, and goliaths in the scene, tech monsters, and have both given a shit ton to these games, but this isn't exactly calling out sonic, scar, semiij, foxy, dragon, or whomever.

Look, people, I know most of you don't know me from a turkey sandwich.
But some of you who do, and the few people I have in my world who really know know me know that I love this shit.
I don't care if our community is more bitter and dried out than a retired elderly escort who's been left out in the sun too long.
There are still players, and fans, and humans who just generally love to see interesting shit happen out there that this, if done right and built/billed properly from one end to the other, could be an epic and entertaining spectacle for.
Gimmicks like this are kind of rare in the FGC. Nonexistent in our branch of it.
What went down as the #1 grudge match/hype battle of MKX? Wound VS Forever King. debatably? A GREAT match, but not just because the two players involved were two of the best in the business, but because of all the build and the pressure and the hype and the anticipation that mounted behind it. Why not more? Where is all the fire? We have numbers. We have competition. We have the seeds for rivalries and grudges.
So why does barely anyone try?
You think you're worthy of a higher stage?
You have someone in mind you want to best in order to prove it?
Do any of you know how to tie a knot?

Fair enough. Maybe not a legend but more so than Nicki. Well that's all opinion anyway. I consider Lauryn to be the best personally and I really don't consider Lean Back to be anything special. I guess the battling of Remy and the fact that I consider Nicki to be a pop star just does it for me.
