How do you play this character? Seriously

I feel like Darkseid has so much potential but he's so predictable and I'm unable to open people up. He doesn't have neutral and people can see the teleporr/minion setups coming a mile away. And I just don't want to spam omega beams all game. Can anyone give me some advice on how to play Darkseid?

Its a bit of a balancing act with Darkseid, You want to zone/ counterzone, but not too much, Mix yess, but only when you need to, keep adjusting your mix game, go for crossups, fake outs, throws, mb knees in addition to the usual overhead low schtick. Trait is your best friend, more specifically running demon is your best friend, you can use it to reinforce anything you do, and its great for quick hard to blocks as well.

I could make a legit low quality tutorial on how to actually play him if people would be willing to see. (Low quality as in not captured perfectly, not the play low quality) Ik knicks said he would and never did and people wanted to see that. Ik a lot of people don't respect me like knicks tho so it might not be as appreciated.

I now rarely play the character and only certain MUs so I wouldn't care if everyone steals my stuff.

I would actually like to see that. Low quality or not

Outside of trying to put your opponent in the blender to open them up, here are a few things to keep in mind:

d1 on hit guarantees a throw attempt or an s2 (you can do 21 into whatever or just 21 as it's -3, you can do 223 which is -6 and has pushback)

Go for throws after a j3 on block. Don't get too predictable with it, however.

d1~MB Knee is a great tool as well. Definitely make sure you're using it fairly often.

You can use your trait to make unsafe stuff safe. You don't have to use it to always mix your opponent if you want to change things up. You can purposely do something unsafe that'll make the opponent want to press a button to punish you and let your trait go and punish them instead.

Delay your mixes a bit. Instead of immediately going for a b1/j2/j3/Doom Stomp after your trait hits them (on block, mind you), delay it slightly.

I'm sure there's more, but I play Darkseid more defensively than I do offensively, so my tactics are a bit different.

Oh, another thing. BAIT OUT MB ROLLS. You can throw them out of it when they reach you or get a d1~special as a punish. It's one of the reasons I play so patient. In certain MUs, some characters are somewhat forced to try and get in and that's one of the main ways of doing so. So, if you bait it out, they waste a bar and you get a punish.

d1 and then omega beams at fullscreen, smart or familiar players won't get caught but it geeks me eternally when occasionally it works.

As soon as you play someone that understands neutral, their character has the tools, then you can’t play him. I don’t care who you are. Zoning has a very very small place in this game. Give darkseid hellboy neutral tools and you would have a 1000 people on tym complain

D1 omega beams is a gimmick that catches players who don't react to the laser animation and instead react to movement or players who see the d1 and think it has more recovery than it does. It will work on players with bad defense or players who aren't used to darkseid but not something you should be doing against every player. Same with doing laser buffers although laser buffers is better against stronger players the strongest will just react to you actually doing the special move. I've found that at about the distance of df2 range maybe a bit further people can not consistently react to laser there so do with that what you'd like.
Although players know not to react to the d1 even the good players will sometimes respect the laser after it and not try to react so doing a d1 and like a backdash can buy you a little bit of time. Ive seen certain darkseid do d1 baits like this against ba and I certainly do not recommend this

How can you not open people up? Every time you leave the ground its a 50/50 into 450 damage
