I will laugh my damn ass off if Hydro makes it in before Rain omfg that'd be the craziest shit. The Rain fans would have a stroke.
Rain is in my top 3 favorite MK characters. Sucks that the menu page wasnt Rain, but I'd still love for Hydro to be in the game.

Just because someone uses similair powers doesnt mean much. Otherwise Nightwolf and Rain fans would be angry that Raidens in. I mean theres like 10 MK characters that use fire powers.

Hydro being in would be really cool, in the fact that he's part of MK's history and always nice to see them bring back less known characters. Plus he can freeze people with his water, he's more of a Rain/sub-zero hybrid. and any DLC that isnt a guest character is fine by me XD

That's a great shout about Frost. Because given the roster we know, it's really hard to figure out how they could play a role in the story otherwise.

Which characters could possibly have a vested interest in rebuilding the Tekunin? Bi Han Sub-Zero from the past, maybe. Frost, either from the past or present. Kano and the Black Dragon? That's basically the complete list of characters either linked to the Lin Kuei, or tech-savvy enough to pull it off.
It has to be either Triborg/Sektor or Frost. There are still Lin Kuei emblems on the walls. Those are the only characters who love the Lin Kuei, but are evil enough to want to cyberize people. You can see on the right side of the stage that someone is being butchered in the background, with blood splashing on the wall. It's too clean for Black Dragon and it's too extreme for Special Forces

Well the reason I didn't say Triborg is because I sincerely doubt NRS would have an entire stage devoted to Tekunins, and have Sub-Zero and Scorpion fight there in an epic battle, without a "boss" battle to follow it up. You know, the character who's responsible for it all.

And since it's pretty much set in stone that Triborg and Sektor are not on the roster, the fightable character has to be someone else. It's just a question of going down the suspect list until we find the most likely culprit.

Someone else mentioned Frost, and given her characterization, previous timeline, and what we saw in MKX... this actually seems really plausible.

She's also in proximity to Sektor's braincase, so she has motive, means, AND opportunity.

What? Explain yourself.
NRS does not hold final sway on who or even when dlc characters are released, WB does, which is why the number of dlc and guests characters continues to rise.

For the record, they also said no on-disc DLC. Fast forward two games and we've had it twice now with Goro and Darkseid and about to do it with Shao Kahn.

I don't know about that. If that were the case you would think that every DLC character would be safe fan-favorite characters, but NRS has a history of questionable DLC choices (Zod and Batgirl in Injustice, Bo' Rai Cho in MKX, two MK characters in Injustice 2). Plus, Triborg and TMNT were innovative ideas that I doubt a corporate executive would come up with. WB probably only influences how many DLC characters they make.

Scorching Take:

Frost is butthurt at Kuai Liang and Hanzo peace. Kronika offers help and leads her to the remains of the cyber initiative.

Subbie and Scorps team up assaulting the base.

Only to find Noob retaking his MKA storyline (building an army of cyber demons) easily dispatching Frost (or letting them do that before taking control of the base) and being the real chapter bad guy.

Chapter would be one of those dual character chapters with Subbie and Scorps both having scores to settle with Bi Han.

The closest I've ever been able to find to the actual quote that gets thrown around is this from GamesCom in 2014:

BOON: "We haven't determined the final DLC characters in the game. Rain was a DLC character in MK9 so the only thing I would say to that is his chances would be less likely, and... because we want to do as much new stuff as possible in MKX."

So less firm than people tend to make it, but I think it indicates they're not keen on repeats.
Yeah the quote I remember hearing was along the lines of " we don't want to have people pay for the same character 2 games in a row" so that adds to the repeat aspect, people just twist it & interpret it from there.

Well, as long as you don't know about it....

Yeah that's the quote I've never been able to find a source for but people say they remember it.
yeah the fact that they never really double down on it made it always seem like something he said off the top to explain reasons for dlc choices & not a hard rule like people think. . that being said dlc for 2 ganes in a row is kinda shitty . but 1 cyborg isnt all cyborgs.

There is definitely repeat DLC. I remember it being not too games in a row or back to back but I find it hard to believe NRS would make an arbitrary rule that prohibits them from using a previously released DLC again at a later time. Seems more like it was some agenda of a person who doesn't like the idea of repeat DLC or the character in general.

I have yet to find the official quote saying no repeat DLC. And I've never seen it anywhere only a debunked fake Twitter Post someone Photoshopped around the time of MKXL.

Isn't that Triborg's Cyber Sub-Zero default look?
I don't think so. It looks more like a generic Triborg which us supposed to be Grey but i doubt it's Hydro unless it's Triborg that transforms into Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke and Hydro.
