Yeah, totally, it's safe to assume that mistakes were made and it's ok, but it really pisses me off that when people started finding out glitches and mids whiffing and stuff like that, NRS couldn't do much about it because of the shitty way they implemented hitboxes.
Bottom line is, they gotta start building the game with less useless fluff like faction wars in mind and focus on the foundation.
damn stright, they need to address the fundamental foundations of the game. regaurdless what any forum says about the game situation. when character A can do a combo on Character X and same combo wiffs on character Y because of a hitbox difference its not just a matchup problem, is a game's core, when its a matchup problem it is later several moves that are effected with many characters not just said matchup, you can lose a match because a character has a tiny hitbox after a move or in the case of female characters like Mileena almost every normal/special can miss because of this.
example: Mileena with her tiny hitbox allowes her to get away with so much garbage its dumb, like her roll blinks out of the game Hitbox wise and there is nothing you can do about it through several moments in that mkoves duration, Mids don't work even though they are supposed to be the most reliable in that situation, then overheads completewly miss actually you are 80% more likely to get comboed for reacting appororiately in that situation. then lows miss as well. not only does it create several matchup issues, but universal moves across the cast are effected and actually every single character in the game has a wiffing move against females in this game and some of them with giant hitboxes actually miss direct hits with mids. and then the crouch problems it creats.
to sum it up, obviously this hitbox issues are far more than just amatchup problem and anyone who says they are a matchup problem deal with it are idiotic at best. the way i see it, when player A plays Player B(with small hitbox) and makes a hard read and uses what is the correct response, Player A can be randomly punished based on Breath box situation or small hitbox situation brang on by corner movement/crouch/specific move together with small hitbox that shifts it to be even smaller or out of reach.
it definitely needs to be addressed.
one example is Sub Zero, and he gets a shit end of this trade every time. not only does he have to have female specific combos for each matchup, but when he is in corner and freezes opponent he can wiff with 4 different optimal moves at his disposal, then if they crouch almost half of his moves can completely miss at any given time, then his juggles can drop based on angle of opponent and how large there hitbox is at any given time in air and how his hitbox merges with hurtbox.
lets not even get into his clone and how opponents can totally disreguard what its intention and use is built for. performing normals through it and so on gasp.
so yeah i hear ya. before they add dumb as modes and additions to this game that noone even gives a shit about like faction wars and challenge towers or the next holiday premiere tower, they should use all that detication and talent towards making the current game state funtion properly. and buffing the lower end characters and reverting some of the dumbest patches ive ever seen in a fighting game like: Cyrax/Cyber Sub Zero nerfs. or when they buffed bottom characters like Kenshi they give where he doesn't need instead of balancing what needs to be balanced. next time around they better focus on what needs to be done and buff the following:
Kenshi all variations (we know 2 is good but all can get beter), Kung Lao-Hat Trick for the love of NRS please buff this variation, Kung Jin Ancestral, Sonya Special Forces, Cassie Spec Ops, Scorpion Inferno, Sub Zero Grandmaster (clone distance traveled after to farther back) Sub Zero Unbreakable, Jacqui High Tech, Goro, Triborg (Cyrax and Cyber Sub Zero), Bo Rai Cho all Variations, Tanya Dragon Naginata, Mileena Ravenous and Ethereal, Kitana Mournful, Leatherface Prety lady and Butcher, Predator Warrior, Shinnok Necromancer, Johnny cage Fisty Cuffs, Erron Black MArksman and a small adjustment/buff to Outlaw, Liu kang deulist needs a bit of love with his heal and a few other things, Ermac you know which one, Kotal Sun God, Reptile Noxious a few more frames added on to 34 gas, Ferra needs a small amount of adjustments, D'vorah Brood and Venomous, Raiden MAster Of Storms and Displacer, Quan Chi Warlock and Summoner, Tremor Metallic. and then and only then after each one gets several changes to mayby most of them just need 1 or two small adjustments then can we have the perfect fighting game, a true balanced game is when noone can even say there is a top 3 and noone can say this character is op or this character absolutely sucks, and we know its not fully balaned, cuz everyone can agree Kenshi Balanced sucks, Raiden Master of storms blows, and HAt trick is in the dump, and everyone else can agree that Alien, Kano CT and Mileena are top tier and have better tools than the rest. but when we buff the rest and carefully bring them up to the top not saying Stier or A+ but bring them to A at least then it will feel even and fair, and i bet those top 3 won't be hard to beat when you have a full cast to use each tool at hand to fight the top instead of this game we are playing now with only 8 to choose from to fight the ever rising 3.
