Tech Fighting against crouching chars with kung lao

D3? Lao can be uppercutted out of all his strings as well. When someone is abusing d3 Ive learned to divekick to their otherside and use 2 4 until they're conditioned .

I reckon PL is just salty that after 10 hours in the lab, he just can't do a single 'McFly' special.

Joking aside, that's pretty rude to just turn up and insult peoples efforts. If you think the KL community is lacking tech, knowledge, whatever you want to call it, by all means come on in and help.
That's what I think .. It is very ungrateful, I have made many combos that are very useful, he should be able to acquire this. That's why I have not uploaded videos (and I have a lot of new technology ). I will upload the last video to shaolin community. Two years with KL I guess it must be the best execution to achieve what I will show you soon.

24 usually works for me, I input 24 grab, if they block the grab doesn't come out and 24 is safe on block

Kung Lao has no 3-7 match-ups. Not with the amount of options and tools he has. But I really don't see how this can be a 5-5 match-up.
Seems like Kitana will and still is the only counterpick to Kung Lao since the beginning of the game. Can't play this bird Lao with her, can't jump, she controls the air, she blocks your bad read and takes half your life away and sits with a life lead. How can Kung Lao play footsies with her huge range, turtle ability and small hitbox to start any offense? KL players might as well dive kick off a bridge than face 16Bit or Khaotik at EVO :p

making reads and spinning her attempts at footsies can work wonders. Also fullscreen hat toss is good for knocking her outta the air :D

You throw a Hat, you eat her Jump Kick~Fan 40% combo. She blocks your Low Hat close up, you lose half life. Kung Lao can't do anything about D1 max range unless you point blank Spin her movement up close and if she baits it, half your life is gone. Air Fan and Ass Away auto corrects when Kung Lao wants to Dive Kick or Teleport in the air. Kitana always has been and always will be KL's hardest MU. IDK about Cyrax

You gotta lame out the bad match-ups, sit back and check reckless dashing with 2 4 low hat/1+2 mix-ups. Kitana seems difficult because she blows up your mistakes easily, Cyrax seems difficult because he blows up your mistakes with massive damage. So.... sit back and stop making mistakes. Outsmart the player, worry about the character later.

i was talking about using hat toss from full screen against kitana, and if u read an ASS or exAss to try and get in u can easily punish it. Most of the time my hat toss usually hits her out of the air if she try's to iaf spam or if she trys a normal ass.

if u get the life lead u can hang back and make her try to chase u down. Grindhat setups can be useful at this point.

because of kitana's footsies and how good they are, i honestly think that mastering the use of Ex DiveKick and grindhat are ur best bet of getting any sort of pressure started against her, since teleports should be done rarely, if at all.

Why EX dive kick and Grind Hat? EX dive kick isn't armored, so an air fan would still ruin your life (and you just lost a bar). Grind hat? What for? If I'm a Kitana player and the Lao player is using the grinding hat, I'd say thanks for wasting a bar of meter, even if the hat hits her. There's very little reward, and the Kitana player has no reason to respect it. The last thing you want to do against Kitana is be careless with your meter.

Why EX dive kick and Grind Hat? EX dive kick isn't armored, so an air fan would still ruin your life (and you just lost a bar). Grind hat? What for? If I'm a Kitana player and the Lao player is using the grinding hat, I'd say thanks for wasting a bar of meter, even if the hat hits her. There's very little reward, and the Kitana player has no reason to respect it. The last thing you want to do against Kitana is be careless with your meter.
thing is, if u throw down a grind hat, once u get to about mid screen vs her zoning, she's gonna have to stop doing IAF's because u can catch her mid air with it and follow up with f3~spin.

I know, but there's just so little reward. You just burned a bar of meter just to get her to stop zoning, but you're not necessarily in yet.

how are u not in when u just comboed her with grindhat into f3~spin? or are u saying if she stopped throwing fans?, u can always release the hat and move in at the same time.

Obviously I mean that she's stopped throwing fans. Even if you do get in because she stopped zoning (though you still have her superior pokes to worry about, among other things), you've essentially spent a bar just to get in, and she still has ways out of your pressure with her low hitbox, better pokes, and overall better normals.

I'm sick and tired of seeing all these combos that will never hit anyone in a real match.

How about you guys put your heads together and find a way around his problem vs crouch.

Crouching destroys all of his options besides spin, low hat, b3, f3, b1 and f4.

Now all of those options have downside:
spin is unsafe
low hat is a unsafe projectile that is only +2 on hit
b3 is a 11 frame short ranged unhit confirmable combo starter
f3 is only 0 on hit and -4 on block (stupid wtf why)
b1 is a mid hitting hit confirming combo starter but its slow as balls.
f4 is a slow low attack jumping 0 on block push back away.

All this means Kung Lao's counter poking is ass especially if you just spam d3 all day.

I would like to see all this KL combo maker people actually find out a way to make his counter poke better besides throwing out spin.
